Gloria Francis Paradine (nee McGuckin)
December 15, 1938 – February 15, 2013

With her family by her side, in her 74th year, Gloria was suddenly and sorrowfully taken from us in the early morning of February 15, 2013. She was the beloved wife and best friend to Keith for the past 53 years, the loving and protective mother of Greg (Deanna) and Tracey (Ron) and devoted grandma to her most cherished possessions Shannon, Tysen and Joshua. She was always the first to call on a friend in need, forever concerned about others, and never one to ask for help herself, Gloria touched the hearts and lives of many people throughout her life. The family takes solace that her memory will be carried on by all who were fortunate enough to know her and to say she will be sadly missed is an understatement. There will be a celebration of Gloria’s life on Friday July 19, 2013 at Low & Low Funeral Home in Uxbridge. A further announcement will go out closer to the event. For those who wish, a memorial donation may be made in lieu of flowers to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Sick Kids Hospital.

Claire Helen Morton
May 15, 1928 – February 12, 2013

passed away peacefully on her own terms on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Lakeridge Health Centre surrounded by her family. There is a large hole in the lives of all who loved and argued with her- most bereft are her husband of 53 years John Dixon Morton, her sons Thomas (Kim) and Christopher David, and daughter Wendy. Grandchildren Maddie, Abbie and Andrew, top the list of friends, and relatives who will all miss her feisty presence. Claire goes to join those loved friends and family who have gone before. Those who are left can find comfort in the knowledge that she is now able to do all those things she loved to do in life, free of pain and restrictions of the body.A small memorial service in remembrance will be held at the Uxbridge United Church, Saturday, Feb 16, 2013 at 3 pm, with visiting from 2-3pm. The family invites friends to a reception at Tom & Kim’s from 4:00 – 6:00p.m. on Saturday evening. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Aid Society of Canada.

Fasciano, Michael Anthony (Mickey)
May 2, 1953 – February 10, 2013

After a valiant and determined battle with cancer, Mickey left us quietly and with dignity holding the hand of his soul mate. Beloved husband, best friend and the love of his wife Karen’s life, he was an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family of Borzoi dogs who gave him so much joy and pride. Friends that he made from his travels all over the world will always remember his spectacular smile, positive attitude and love of life. It will be hard for many of his friends to look at a Harley Davidson without thinking of him and his lifetime passion for motorcycles, along with playing hockey and the occasional single malt Scotch. He and Karen were so grateful for all the special people who were there for support during his struggle. He kept that mischievous sparkle in his blue eyes and his wicked sense of humour that everyone will remember. As per Mickey’s wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge (23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073. There will be a celebration of his life at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Durham Animal Shelter or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
