Teskey, (Mary) June

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Nana and Great Nana on January 28, 2013, in her 86th year, at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. Predeceased by her parents, Allan and Hannah Janes, her husband, Walter Howard and her grandson Brian Budden. Beloved mother of Wayne and Jackie, Judy and Glenn, Brian and Normalee and Laura and Ange. Cherished Nana of Tara Teskey, Karin (Lee Steele), Jeff Budden (Jennifer), Russell Teskey (Ashley), Craig Teskey, Rachel Mitchell (Jarrod), Jamie Giftopoulos (Tina Empringham), Diana Giftopoulos (Kelly Jewison). Proud Great Nana of Kaydence Teskey, Arrianna Giftopoulos, Madelyn Teskey and Colin Steele. Our family would like to thank Dr. Mahadevan for his care, the compassionate nursing staff on the second floor of the UCH and the emergency doctors, Dr. Wilson and Dr. Jensen and nurses for their kindness to mom during her many visits. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home (23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905)852-3073). A celebration of her life was held on Friday, February 1st from 7-9p.m. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at a later date. In June’s memory, donations may be made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation (4 Campbell Drive, Uxbridge, ON L9P 1H6) or to a charity of your choice.

Timbers, Leatrice Jane
April 17, 1925 – January 27, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Leatrice Jane Timbers (nee Nicholson) in her 87th year. Beloved wife for 66 years of Robert Timbers. Treasured and adored mother of Karen Timbers Riggs and her husband Paul, Barry Timbers and his wife Cheryl, and Gregory Timbers and his wife Diane. Cherished grandmother of Michelle Shrigley and her husband Marc, Heather Burnside( predeceased by Neil Gordon), Sharon Bauder and her husband Mike, Beth Timbers, Trevor Timbers, Rebecca Timbers and her husband Jason Duckworth, and Shawn Timbers. Proud Great-Grandmother of Robert and Katherine Howell, Megan and Matthew Burnside, and Emily and Avery Bauder. Predeceased by her brother Wallace Nicholson, sister Edna Kiss, and brother William Nicholson. A part of our heart she took with her… But her love she left us to keep… So we will never really be parted… The bond between us is too deep. A private service was held. A celebration of Leatrice’s life will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 1-4 p.m. at the Uxbridge Seniors Centre (75 Marietta Street, Uxbridge, ON 905 852-6761).In Leatrice’s memory donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

O'Neill, Edward (Eddy)

passed away at Scarborough General Hospital on Saturday January 26, 2013. Eddy O’Neill loving father of Sharon (Ken) Smith, Deborah (Fred) Hale and Heather (Mike) Ratke. Dear grandfather of Amanda, Laura, Ryan, Michelle and Jenna and great grandfather of Riley, Jack and Addison. He is predeceased by his brothers and sisters. Eddy will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.Family and friends were received at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry, (905) 985-7331 on Tuesday January 29, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass was held on Wednesday January 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1710 Scugog Street, Port Perry, with a reception that followed. Interment will be held at the Duffin Meadows cemetery , 2505 Brock Rd., Pickering on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Memorial donations to the Uxbridge / Scugog Animal Shelter would be appreciated.

McEwen, Elizabeth

Beloved wife of Ralph McEwen and daughter of the late Elsie and Lorne Beare. In her 70th year, Liz passed away peacefully at the Toronto Western Hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm. She will be sorely missed by all. A service to celebrate Elizabeth's life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 3:330 pm at St. Andrews Chalmers Presbyterian Church (40B Toronto Street South, Uxbridge ON). In her memory donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Austin, Larry

passed away peacefully at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital after his long fight with cancer on January 22, 2013. Loving husband, father, popa, brother, son and friend. He will be deeply missed by all that loved him. A service to celebrate and remember the life of our loved one Larry Austin will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Church. Larry’s wife Sharon Martin-Austin and his family would like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Ian Tannock and all the staff at Princess Margaret Hospital Prostate Cancer Clinic. Dr. Jenssen, Dr. Mahadevan and the wonderful nursing and support staff at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital for their care. Dossor, Jean Patricia

passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa at the age of 81. Jean Dossor dearly beloved wife and best friend of Harry Dossor of Seagrave. Loving mother of Kirk (Diane), Kelly (John) Curran and predeceased by Mark. Dear grandmother of Ryan, Shannon , Tyler and great grandmother of Geminni and Logan. Jean will be sadly missed by all her family, friends and special friends at Crestwood Golf Club. Family and friends were received at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry, (905) 985-7331 on Saturday January 26, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jean was held in the chapel on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Memorial donations to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.

Gouweleeuw, Peter J.
(1926-2013)

With great sadness, and surrounded by family, the Gouweleeuw Family announce the peaceful passing of Peter Gouweleeuw, 86, on January 17, 2013 at Reachview Village - Uxbridge. Peter leaves behind his loving and supporting wife Teresa of 58 years and children Bill, Bert, Teresa, Peter and Mary-Jane. Spouses Petra Osske, Vann Gouweleeuw (nee Deschene), Tom McNeill, Helen Gouweleeuw (nee Snooks). Grand children Brooke, Erin, Jeremy, Krista, Amanda, Shauna, predeceased by grandson Benjamin (November 4, 2011), and Katelyn. Great grandchild Caela. Peter and Teresa married in 1954 and came to reside in Uxbridge in 1954, and since then was active in service club and community service, most notably: 12 years acting as Chair of the St. Joseph`s Catholic School Board starting in 1960, The Kinsmen Club of Uxbridge particularly; Deputy-Governor’s Award for Phase 2, Music Hall – Seniors Club Room (Chairman), President 1965-66, Chair of the 30th Anniversary Committee, Bulletin Editor for District 8 – 1967-68, Bulletin Editor Zone F Senior National Trophy 1969, Chairman of the following club committees By-Laws Revisions, Club Historian, and Membership drives, Club floats for several Annual Santa Claus parades, Life Member in June 1972, Chair of Kin Expansion/50 the Anniversary Project Committee. Also, he was active in Community Service to the Town of Uxbridge particularly; Chair of the Uxbridge Community Centre Board, Chair of Uxbridge Music Hall association 1984, Volunteered time and labour to construct signage welcoming people to Uxbridge and picnic tables for local parks, Volunteer with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of North Durham. Peter’s favourite past-time was a woodworking hobbyist constructing Model Buildings (including Historic), toys and furniture for his children, grand children and friends. Notably were Peter’s historic building models of past/present Uxbridge landmarks – Bell Tower (old Fire Hall), the Uxbridge Service Station on display at the Scott Historical and Municipal buildings. Peter has donated a dollhouse for a fundraiser for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of North Durham. He placed first prize in the 1992 Canadian Workshop Magazine for a toy barn including instructions to make your own version. A model of his century home also appeared in the 1991 Guild Gazette. Peter will be greatly missed, fondly remembered as a devoted husband, loving and caring Dad, a doting “Opa” as well as a generous man to friends and community. Visitation was on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Low & Low Funeral Home Uxbridge, 23 Main St. South (905) 852-3073. A service was held in the chapel on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception that followed. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations may be made to Reachview Village Uxbridge.

Aitchison, Eunice D.

passed away peacefully at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Monday, January 14, 2013, in her 81st year. Predeceased by her loving husband John. Devoted mother of Iain and Elaine (Eric). Loving grandmother to Adam, Tyler, Kyle, Bradley and Jacob. Eunice will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law Helen and her brother Douglas, who resides in Scotland. She will be forever cherished by her best friend Grace and sadly missed by the congregation at the Zephyr United Church. Eunice’s family would like to express thanks to the many staff at Butternut Manor and to the doctors and nurses at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. A celebration of Eunice’s life was held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 3pm at Low & Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905)852-3073. A reception followed. Donations may be made to the Lung Association or the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.

McFarlane, John

passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 14, 2013 with his family by his side, in his 88th year. Loving husband of Marjorie, dear father of five children, grandpa to many grandchildren and loved by his many great-grandchildren. John was a veteran of the Second World War and upon returning to Canada, started his lengthy career with the Uxbridge Township. Family and friends were received at Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905)852-3073. Visiting will take place from 1-2pm on Saturday, January 19, 2013. Funeral service was held in the chapel at 2pm. A reception followed at the Uxbridge Legion.

Stevens, Donald Frederick
(Stevens Market, Myrtle)

passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa in his 77th year. Don Stevens survived by his beloved wife Carolyn of Brooklin. He will be missed by his sister Mary (John) Villeneuve of Brockville, his brother Murray (Marg) Stevens of Myrtle and nephews Michael (Rachel) Stevens, Andrew (Ana) Stevens, Steve (Donna) Villeneuve and niece Karynn (Andres) von Cramon. Family and friends will be received at Low & Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach St., Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Don was held in the chapel on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 1 p.m. Interment Pine Grove cemetery , Prince Albert. Memorial donations may be made to the Oshawa Hospital Foundation.
