McGowan, Wayne

On Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital, Wayne McGowan passed away at the age of 62. Wayne will be forever missed by his life partner Sharon Nielsen and his loving daughter Lacey. Beloved son to Ralph and Sheelagh. Survived by his brother Ken and wife Donna. Fondly remembered by his nieces Shannon and Elyse and proud grandfather to Mackenzie and Parker (Sharon’s daughter Julie and husband Mark). Wayne will be greatly missed by all his close friends who enriched his life. A service to celebrate Wayne’s life was held on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge 23 Main St. S., Uxbridge (905) 852-3073. Visiting from 1 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. in the chapel. A reception followed. Private interment at a later date. In Wayne’s memory donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Cancer Centre.

Rickard, Ethel Jean

Passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital at the age of 86. Ethel beloved wife of the late Thomas. Loving Mother to Fred, Gord (Desiree), Sherri, and Kim (Nenad). Dear grandmother to Diane, Joanne, Carolyn, Mona, Seara, Jessie, Alexandra and nine great grandchildren. Survived by her brothers John and Charles. Resting at the Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge 23 Main Street South (905) 852-3073 on Saturday, December 15, 2012 for a service in the chapel at 2 p.m. Visitation one hour before. Interment Uxbridge cemetery. In Ethel's memory, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Hillaby, Cheryl (Cherie)

passed away with her loving husband by her side on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa at the age of 50. Cherie Hillaby dearly beloved wife and best friend of Wayne Hillaby of Cadmus. Loving mother of Ryan. Dear daughter of Carol Cannon and sister of Joseph, Christine and Caren. Cherie will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and many friends. Her kindness and love will be missed by all. Family and friends were received at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry, (905) 985-7331 on Friday December 14, 2012 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Cherie was held in the chapel on Friday at 2 p.m. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Harris, Paul

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Paul after a courageous battle with cancer at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Monday, December 10, 2012. Loving father of Paula Blundell and Robert Harris. Cherished grandpa of Ryan, Christian and Leah Blundell, Brianne and Megan Harris. Paul will be missed and fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Audrey McKnight, sisters-in-law Joan Harris and Susan Long (Al Purdy) and Al and Diane Mackenzie. Nieces and nephews, Jeff Long (Tammy), Tim Harris (Donna), Wendy Harris, Tina Curtis (Jim), Christopher, Dyana Bruno (John) and all his extended family and friends. As requested by Paul cremation has taken place. Private family service at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home 23 Main St. S. Uxbridge (905) 852-3073. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Uxbridge/Scugog Animal Shelter.

Wilcock, Harold

passed away peacefully at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the age of 96. Harold, beloved husband to the late Annie Wright. Dear father to Kathleen (late Dennis Ham), Thomas, Marian (Brian DeGeer) and Margaret (late Victor Grech). Fondly remembered by eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Survived by his sister Marian and husband Douglas Allen and predeceased by his brother John and his wife Lottie. Resting at the Low and Low Funeral Home Uxbridge 23 Main St. S (905) 852-3073, on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held in the chapel on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. Interment Uxbridge cemetery. A reception followed. In Harold’s memory, donations made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital or to Trinity United Church would be appreciated.

Moriarty, Mary Clara
October 20, 1942 to December 8, 2012

passed away at Uxbridge Hospital at the age of 70. Will be remembered by her daughter Bev, her son John, daughter-in-law Sandy, and grandchildren Sam, Vanessa, Tanya, CJ, Michael, and Joey. At Clara's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation will be followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetary. The family would like to thank Dr. Carlye Jensen and the staff at Uxbridge Hospital for their care and compassion.

Mayr, Josef

passed away with his family by his side at Lakeridge Health, Port Perry on Thursday December 6, 2012. Josef Mayr dearly beloved husband of Maureen Mayr of Port Perry. Loving father of Sandra Mayr ( Lee Beacock) and Linda Mayr Reeb (Patrick). Dear grandfather of Brent, Lisa, Jessy, Liam and Gillian. Family and friends were received at the Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry, (905) 985-7331 on Tuesday December 11, 2012 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Josef was held in the chapel on Tuesday at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Port Perry Hospital Auxiliary or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Kearley, William George (Bill)

passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Reachview Village, Uxbridge, at age 82. Bill was a former husband to Marg and Carol and predeceased by his second wife Nancy. Loving father to Vicki (Ron), Bill, Steven (Stacy), and Wendy (Jason). He will be sadly missed by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survived by his sisters Ruby, Nina, Joan, Helen, his Brother Al, and Cousin Jim. Predeceased by his sister Louise. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bill`s life will be held at the Uxbridge Legion on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital would be appreciated.

Cleverdon, Terrence Albert (Terry)

Passed peacefully on Thursday December 6, 2012 after a short but courageous fight with cancer. Beloved husband of Linda Middleton. Loving Dad to Karen and Rod, Kevin and Laurie, Debbie and John, Dean and Kelly. Papa to Jessica, Rebeka, Katie, Samantha, Jacob, Adele, Chad, Janelle, Shaylyn, Mitchell, Damian, Rick and Dale. Survived by brothers Howard and Ron and sister Carole. Predeceased by his parents Gladys and Albert, and brothers and sisters Doug, Gloria, Dot, Larry and Harold. A service to celebrate Terry’s life was held in the chapel at the Low and Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge, 23 Main Street South (905)852-3073 on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation from 12:00 noon until service time at 3:00 p.m. A reception followed. Special thanks to Durham EMS (Doug& Peter) and Home Care Nursing (Anne & Maimi) and the staff at Newmarket Hospital. In Terry’s memory, donations may be made to the Federation of Hunters and Anglers, Humane Society, or The Canadian Cancer Society.

Bennett, Charles Edward (Chuck)

passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at his home in Zephyr, at the age of 76. Loving husband to Dianne. Much loved father to Brent (Diane) and David (Joanne) and step-father to Ronald (Ute), Scott (Maggy) and Craig (Maura). Will be sadly missed by his 13 grandchildren; Michael, Kylie, Hannah, Josh, Lauren, Breanna, Ciara, Sarah, Melanie, Natalie, Olivia, Robert and Matthew. Survived by his brother David Nelson of London, Ontario. Chuck was a long time teacher at George Brown College and an enthusiastic Banjo player.As requested by Chuck, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Low and Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Uxbridge/Scugog Animal Shelter.

passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Butternut Manor, Uxbridge, in his 89th year. Husband to Mary. Loving father to Jim (Chantal) and Jack (Janice). Devoted grandfather to Angela (Bill), Sheri (Rob), Matthew, Nicole (Tom), Denise (Simon), Jessica and Paige. Carl will be fondly remembered by his 8 great – grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife Jean. Campsall, Gladys

passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, at the age of 83. Gladys, will be lovingly remembered by her husband Jim of 64 years. Loving mother to Dorothy (Pat), Barbara (Dan), Bob (Dorothy), Cinda (Joe) and Rick (Renta). Devoted grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Gladys is survived by her sisters Yvonne Ellis of Toronto and Edith Seeley of Sarnia.
