Blundell, Devina

passed away peacefully at the Lakeridge Health Hospital, Oshawa on Monday, October 4, 2010 in her 93rd year. Predeceased by her husband William “Bill” Blundell. Loving mother of William “Bill” Rettie (Ann), Russell, Joan (John), Penny (deceased), James (Joanne), Sandra, Dan (Cathy), Joe (Linda), Doug (Connie), Billie (Kim), Susan (Rod), Ralph (Edie) and Chuck (Paula). Devina will be missed by her many many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as her many friends and family.
A visitation was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main St. S. Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 12:00 noon with visiting from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Interment Claremont Union cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Swan, Phyllis Joan

passed away peacefully at the Lakeview Manor Long Term Care Facility on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in her 88th year. Predeceased by her husband Astley Clem Swan. Beloved mother of Jean Smith (Alfred). As per Phyllis’s wishes, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Low and Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Tindall, Karen Elizabeth

passed away on Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Markham Stouffville Hospital surrounded by her family, in her 62nd year. Karen, loving wife of Mel for 43 years. Mother of Shannon (Yvonne), Ryan (Karyn) and the late Logan. Proud grandmother of Dylan, Brianna, Riley, Kyle, Casey and Jessie. Friend and sister of Lynda Kendry, Ken Geer (Melissa) and Gord Geer (Chris). Daughter-in-law of Nora Tindall. Sister-in-law of Bruce (Lynn). Aunt to Patti, Theresa, Chris, Lisa, Phillip, Kyle, Derek, Andrea and Brooke. Karen will be missed by her extended family and friends. A visitation was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main St. S. Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Friday, October 1, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with visiting from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment Sandford cemetery.
In Karen’s memory, donations may be made to the Jennifer Ashleigh Foundation, Trillium Gift of Life Network, or to Relay for Life (Karen’s Team). Because of Karen’s sharing nature, her final gift to others was made through the Trillium Gift of Life Network.

Hayes, Marc

passed away suddenly as a result of an accident, on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at the Hamilton General Hospital in his 20th year. Marc, loving and cherished son of Debra, Warren, and the late James Hayes. Best friend and brother of Kyle and his wife Kaylin. Loving boyfriend of Jenn Borgford. Grandson of Betty Hayes. Nephew of Jayne and Mike Lafete, Bob and Penny Starr and Ted and Maryanne Starr. Cousin of Ryan, Kate, Courtney, Scott and Nicole. A Funeral Service was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Cremation followed. In Marc’s memory, donations may be made to the Trillium Gift of Life Network (522 University Ave. Suite 900, Toronto, ON. M5G 1W7).

Borgford, Jennifer

passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Loving daughter of William Borgford and Lynda Sadlowski. Loving sister of Samantha. Stepdaughter of Don Risebrough.

Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held at the St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Leaskdale on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.

Rowsell, Betty Jane

Born April 15, 1930, passed away peacefully at ReachView Village Nursing Home in Uxbridge, Ontario on September 18, 2010. Deeply beloved wife of the late Earle Maxwell Rowsell and dearest mother of Danny, Diana, Douglas and Donna. Dotting Grandmother to Andrew, Timmy, Eric, Justin and Megan and proud Great-grandmother to Kayleigh and Marley. Betty’s caring, easy going personality and sense of humor will be greatly missed and remembered by everyone who knew her.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. A burial of Betty’s and her late husband Earle’s ashes has been scheduled for Monday, October 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Park Lawn cemetery in Toronto, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation or to a charity of your choice.

Judith McCartney
May 9th, 1945 - September 22nd, 2010

Entered into rest on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 at her home in Uxbridge, in her 66th year. After her courageous battle with cancer, Judy (Houck) McCartney joined her parents (Miles & Eve Houck), brother Gary and sister Janice McMillan. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband Dan. Mother to Suzanne Markell (Rob) of Kingston, Estelle Greening of Toronto. Dear Brother of Peter Houck of Port Perry. Grandmother to RJ, Kyle, Taylor, Robin and Dylan. Fondly remembered by many wonderful friends.
Rested at Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. S, Uxbridge (905) 852 3073 on Saturday, September 25th, 2010 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, September 26th, 2010 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with service in the chapel at 4:00 p.m. Reception followed at the Royal Canadian Legion, Uxbridge. passed away peacefully at age 88 in Toronto. Predeceased by her husband Mervin in 1977. Predeceased by brothers Lawrence and Joseph and sisters Agnes, Madeline and Stella. Survived by sister Maragret Soule of Uxbridge, sister – in – law Rita Humphry Lapointe of Quebec and nieces and nephews. Private service to be held after cremation. Mackintosh, George Allan
(WWII Veteran)

Quietly passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2010 in his 88th year, joining his adored wife Ellen and treasured daughter Gail. Loving father to Rory, Lynn (Bill Thornhill), Glenn (Jennifer) and Tracey (Bart Callahan). This proud Grandpa will be fondly remembered by his 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A passionate Canadian and Scotsman, George served 30 years in the RCAF and then opened his own successful business, AA&A Plumbing, which he ran for 15 years until his retirement. He loved travel and traveled regularly during his years in the air force. In later years, he and Ellen enjoyed numerous road trips visiting friends throughout Canada and the US.
He had a love for music and over his life played the bagpipes, harmonica, banjo and accordion. George also enjoyed reading, being outdoors and working with his hands whether woodworking, painting or building his own homes.
Though finally reunited with his cherished Ellen, Dad will be greatly missed. And to those left behind, he would surely say,
“Lang mae yer lum reek”
A Memorial Service was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main St. S., Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with visiting from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. Reception followed. In George’s memory, donations may be made to Sunnybrook Veterans Comfort Fund.
