Horgan, Marthe Caden (nee: Aliman)

Wednesday, July 29, 2009 peacefully in her sleep at Butternut Manor, Uxbridge. Born July, 26, 1915 in London, England. Pre-deceased by her late husband of 53 years Frank (1914-1995). Also by her late father S. J. Aliman, her mother Louise Marie (nee: Evrard), brothers Albert and Eugene, and sister Linda (Keogh). Survived by sister Reina (Dickson) of Sydney British Columbia. Marthe always took great joy in her family and filled her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and great-great aunt, with love and affection. She will be greatly missed by sons Michael (Jody) & Dennis (Lillie) of Toronto and Terry (Lisa) of Uxbridge. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren David, Robbie (Andrae), Daniel (Dianna), Travis, Madison, Tracy (Renault) & Cari (Bruce) and by great grandchildren Andrew, Julia, Spencer, Benjamin, Julia, Annabelle, and Hugo. Auntie Marthe to Marie, Nina, Susan, Peter, Jennie, Linda, Martin and the late Robert Dickson. She will also be missed by her many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. A few years ago, Marthe moved from her long-time home on Pacific Avenue in Toronto to the country near the town Warkworth where she made many new friends. She is fondly remembered by Lynda, Sandy and Jane and many others in the area who had the opportunity to meet her. In June of 2008, Marthe moved to Butternut Manor retirement home in Uxbridge where she made many more new friends with both residents and staff. The family would like to acknowledge the care and dedication of the staff at Butternut Manor over the past few months in particular. Overt the last two months, Marthe held court receiving many family members and friends who visited to say their goodbyes. Her parting words to everyone are "Bye-bye darlings - love you all"

Hockley, Francis Albert

passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital on July 28, 2009 in his 89 th year. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen and the late Betty. Loving father of Lois and Laura. Grandfather of Elaine, Olga, and Dora. Great grandfather of Joseph, Cody, and Dakota. Survived by his sister Elsie Playter and predeceased by brothers Melvin, Preston and his sisters Naomi Green and Daisy Crone. A Visitation was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.

Kennedy, Lois Charlotte (Nee: Pickett)

Lois went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Parkview Home for the aged in Stouffville. Beloved wife of the late Maurice Kennedy. Loving mother of Marion (Ivan) Noble, Connie (Dallas) Bewley, Bob (Darlene) Kennedy, and Cheryl Kennedy. Lovingly remembered by her 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and her 8 great great grandchildren. Lois will be missed by her sisters Rowena Casement and Mildred Quick and she is predeceased by her brother Tom Pickett. A visitation was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905) 852 - 3073 on Thursday, July 23, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Quaker Hill cemetery , Uxbridge. In Lois's memory donations made to Gideon Bibles would be appreciated.

Duckworth, Ruth Eleanor

Peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. In her 83 rd year. Ruth, beloved wife of Ron. Loving mother of Karen (Paul) Hamilton and Keith (Dawne) Duckworth. Grandmother of Craig (Janice), Beth (Paul), and Jason. Great grandmother of Nathan and Kirsten. Predeceased by her brothers Bruce and Morley Barton. Rested at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held at the Trinity United Church (20 First Avenue Uxbridge) on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Interment Foster Memorial cemetery. In Ruth's memory donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Bell, Thornton "Zeke"
Retired 35 year employee Robert Simpson Co.

passed away peacefully at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital in his 89 th year. Thornton loving husband of the late Jean. Dear father of Nancy and Charlie Clarke, and Robert and Wendy Bell. "Gramps" will be sorely missed by his special grandson Scott, and best friend Cola. At Thornton's request, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Cremation. Murray, Carolyn M.
passed away peacefully on July 8, 2009 at the age of 46 surrounded by her family and friends, after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with breast cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Doug Warr, daughter Danielle, parents Doris and the late Howard Burton, twin sister Colleen (Ken), sisters Patricia (Brian), Pamela (Dave), sister-in-law Cathy (Ron), in-laws Bea and Joe West, and many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. until time of Service at 2:00 p.m. at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852 - 3073 If so desired, memorial donations in Carolyn's memory, may be made to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada or The Goodwood Girls. Robert passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2009 at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, in his 60 th year. Lovingly remembered by his daughters Mari-Ann and Bobbie, and his brother of Ken. Peterson, Helene (Helju)

Peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital after a brief illness, at the age of 84. Helene, beloved wife of the late Herman Alexander Peterson. Loving mother of Johann and Maret. Adored and caring grandmother of Alexander. She will be remembered by her surviving family. Helene has been cremated and put to rest at York cemetery (160 Beecroft Road Toronto) on Monday, July 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, as expressions of sympathy, donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Feasby, Oscar Morley

passed away peacefully at Port Perry Community Nursing Home on Thursday, July 2, 2009 in his 91 st year. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Phyllis (Nee: Carson). Lovingly remembered by his children and grandchildren Roger and Jackie (Kristen, Courtney, Ryan, and Jason), Doug and Laurie (Ashley, Craig, Angela and Katelyn), Bill and Rita (Christopher and Shaun), Sherrie Rennie (Laura, Jonathan, Jeffrey, and Amanda), Bill and Maxine Hutchinson (Nicole, Brittany and Cassidy). Predeceased by his parents William John and Cora Mae (Nee: Welsh) and his brother Lloyd. A visitation was held at the Low and Low Funeral Home 23 Main Street South Uxbridge (905) 852-3073 on Sunday, July 5, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service was held at Uxbridge Baptist Church (231 Brock Street West Uxbridge) on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Uxbridge Historical Society or to the Uxbridge Baptist Church.

Dickie, Alice G.

Alice slept peacefully away at her residence in Port Perry in her 89 th year. Loving wife of the late Stanley Dickie for 50 years. Loving mother of Carl (deceased) and his wife Barbara, David and his wife Deb and beloved grandmother of Kristin McRae (Jackson), Scott, Colin and Kyle. Fondly remembered by her nephew Ric Hollowell and his wife Pam. Predeceased by her brothers Stanley Hollowell and John Morley (Jack) Hollowell. Alice spent most of her life in the Scarborough area, devoted to her family, friends, Zion-Wexford United Church family and many special people. A celebration of Alice's life was held on Monday, July 6, 2009 at Wexford Heights United Church, 2102 Lawrence Ave., E., Scarborough. Visitation was from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. with a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. Interment in the church cemetery will follow with light refreshments and a time for sharing memories afterward. Reid, John Robert

After a short battle with cancer on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the age of 54, John passed away surrounded by his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Lynda, devoted children Shannon, Michelle and Lee. Much loved grandfather of Jordan, Nick, Kayla, Justin and Shanice. A special thank you to his sister Margo and life long friend Dennis. Roffey, Anitra Gillian

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully with her husband and close friends at her side. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband J.P. Braband and her beloved boys Aidan and Lucas. She is predeceased by her mother Jill Roffey (nee Shaffery). Anitra is also survived by her father Brian Roffey (Julia), her sisters Christina (Ian), Simone (Mark), mother-in law Dorothy, sister-in- law Janinne (Larry) and nephews and nieces Alexandra, Joshua, Victoria, Matthew and Jenna. She was a teacher and mentor by profession as well as in character. She had a profound impact on all those whose lives she touched. She always looked for and saw the good in others and will be greatly missed. We love you Anitra. A Celebration of Anitra's life was held at Low and Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street Port Perry (905) 985-7331 on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 3:00 with visitation from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society "Team Anitra" in lieu of flowers would be preferred. Many thanks to everyone for your support, generosity and kindness during her entire battle. We are so grateful.
