KEAN, Brian -
(Retired teacher of Kedron P.S., Oshawa, A Commander in The Royal Navy, World War II).
On Thursday, November 13, 2003 at Centenary Health Centre in his 79th year. Companion and brother of 30 years to the late Bunty Mika. Dear uncle of Chris and her husband Tom, John and his wife Janet. Great uncle to Jaclyn, Tim and Patrick. Special thanks to Crystal, Annette and Dr. Anderson of the hospital staff. A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 85 Livingston Road, Scarborough (corner of Guildwood Parkway), 416-261-9503 on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to a Charity of your choice would be appreciated.

McCABE, Alice Marian -
Peacefully in Bowmanville on Thursday November 13, 2003 aged 93 years. Predeceased by her husband Cecil (1984). Loving mother of Leslie (Agnes). Loving grandmother of Michael, and Andrea Lynn. Sister of Leslie Hyde, Margaret Portshire and Dolly Hyde all of England. Predeceased by her sisters Maude & Ivy. Resting at The ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with funeral service in the Chapel on Monday November 17, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. Interment Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

SMYCNUIK, Stanley “Stan” -
passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 13th, 2003 at the Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga. Stan was born and educated in Ituna, Saskatchewan. After farming for several years he moved to Oshawa where he worked for Duplate for 20 years and then was a Canada Post letter carrier until he retired. After retirement he continued to do endless volunteer work at St. George’s Catholic Church. He was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #43 and the St. George’s Ukrainian Men’s Association. He unselfishly gave of his time, energy and love to all those around him, he sought only the happiness of others. Stan is survived by his loving wife Rose of 55 years and two children Delores (Ron) Gallagher and Dennis and one grandson Ryan. He is mourned by brother Nester (Natalie) of Scarborough, sisters Anne of Saskatoon, Kay of Mississauga, Natalie of Toronto, Martha of Ituna, Sister Florentine S.S.M.I. of Winnipeg, Helen of Toronto, Lil (Joe) of Calgary. Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE “Thornton Chapel” 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Sunday, November 16th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 P.M. Panachda 7:30 P.M. At Toronto General Hospital on Wednesday, November 12th, 2003 in his 61st year. Beloved husband of Dale Danaher (nee McLeese). Loving father of Ryan and his fiancee Kathleen of Toronto. Son of John and the late Amelia of California. Dear brother of Maureen Bradford and her husband Bob, Ray and his wife Pat all from California, Ken and his wife Linda of Pickering. Peacefully with his family by his side after a brief and courageous battle with cancer at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa on Wednesday, November 12th, 2003 in his 59th year. Beloved husband of Kellie. Loving father of son Rheo Jr. and his wife Robin and daughter Shawna-Lee. Cherished Papa of Taylor and Casey. Dear brother of Claire Beaulieu (late Adolphe), Wilda (Germain) Gagnon, Zella Fife (late Bob), Patricia (Gerald) Gagnon, Audrey Sirois (late Rino), Laurie (Chantale) Doiron and missed by many nieces and nephews. Loving mother of Dorothy Mercer and her husband Bruce of Spring Bay, Manitoulin Island, Bonnie Lane of Bowmanville and predeceased by her daughter Shirley. Loving grandmother of Janet Croft and her husband Randy, Travis Mercer and his wife Jennifer, Tyler and Sarah Lane. Great-grandmother of Connor and Brandon Croft, and Kallaway Mercer. Dear sister of Ada Rutherford, Armond Hollingsworth and the late Gladys, John, Lillian Hollingsworth, Dorothy Morton, Phyllis Dunlop and Viola Cairns. Violet will be sadly missed by her cat Freud. Tragically on Wednesday, November 12, 2003. Our beloved Ashley, daughter of Sandra and Tom Hodgins, was taken from us. Dearest sister of Rachel. Much loved granddaughter of Muriel and Al Hodgins, and Irene and the late Charles Bodmore. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friend Jeff Greenfield. Ashley is resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, with visiting on Friday, November 14th from 2 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, November 15th at 11 a.m. Cremation. Peacefully, after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at the Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Orillia, at age 80. Phyllis (nee Snache), beloved wife of the late Norman Wakeford. Predeceased by her parents Murdock and Margaret Snache, her sisters Helen Goose, Dorothy Edgar, Winona Snache and her niece Sylvia Le Saux. Survived by her nephew Fred Snache, her great niece Jeanne and her husband Fred Ball, her great great nephews Phillip Robidoux, David Robidoux, Charles Le Saux-Ball and her great great niece Samantha Ball. The family of Phyllis Wakeford will receive friends at the Rama United Church on Saturday, November 15th from 2 - 3 p.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Church at 3 p.m. with Reverend Frazer Lacey officiating. Private interment Glendale Memorial Gardens, Rexdale.
