MICHAEL IAN ARMOUR Suddenly on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the St. Michael's Hospital. Michael, dearly beloved husband of Barbara. Loving father of Heather and her husband Martin Dulon-Barre, Mark Read and his daughter Tegan. Dear brother of Ann, David and his wife Ruth. Michael will be dearly missed by his 2 nephews, and many relatives and friends. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga (Hwy. 10 N. of QEW) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. Cremation. For those who wish, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

BARBER, Dr. Herbert

DR. HERBERT BARBER Peacefully at Leisureworld - O'Connor Court on Monday, January 14, 2008, three days before his 94th birthday. Beloved husband of Ingrid and loving father of Geoff (Daphne), Suzanne (Raymond Simoni), and Anne (Ed Rose). Dear grandpa of Neill (Caroline), Nicky, Benjamin, Rachel, Josh and Evan. Herb was a WWII Veteran serving with the RAF, faculty member of Seneca College and McGill University and Past Secretary Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Masseurs. Memorial service will be held in the Carfrae Chapel of Mt. Pleasant cemetery , 375 Mt. Pleasant Road on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

BENNETT, Nancy

BENNETT, Nancy Jean - passed away suddenly with her family by her side at the Huronia District Hospital Midland on Tuesday, January 15, 2008. Nancy Bennett (nee Caswell) of Wyevale in her 51st year. Beloved wife of Chuck Bennett. Dear mother of Robert and Valerie Bennett both of Wyevale. Daughter of the late Bob and Marg Caswell. Sister of Debi (Paul) Bruce-Moore of Kingston and Chuck (Katie) Caswell of Halifax. Friends may call at the Lynn-Stone Funeral Home Elmvale from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral service in the chapel on Saturday, January 19 at 1 p.m. Cremation. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

BIGELOW, Elaine

BIGELOW, Elaine (nee Rushton) - Died peacefully on January 12, 2008, at University Hospital in London, Ontario. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Elaine married and settled in Toronto. She attended the Arts Program at Mount Alison University in Sackville, New Brunswick and later completed her degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto where she met her husband Jim. During the war Elaine worked as an O.T. in Boston at The Massachusetts General Hospital and later The Verdun Protestant Hospital in Montreal. Elaine and Jim built their home in 1951 and Elaine resided there for fifty-six years. She loved her home, travel, and arts and crafts, which she taught to eager friends in her basement. Predeceased by her husband Jim, Elaine will be greatly missed by her son Jay and his wife Susan, her daughter Lee and her husband Doug Stitt and by her three grandchildren Melissa, Jesse and Christy. A memorial reception will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society, Palliative Care Unit of a Hospital, or to the Art Gallery of Ontario would be appreciated.

BRANDENBURG, Barbara - Peacefully at home on January 15, 2008 in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of Albert Brandenburg. Dear mother to Marcel, James, Dominic, Jessica and their spouses. Much loved Oma to Grace, Mathew, Melissa, Tanner, Gage, Edward and Jessica. Family will receive friends at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge, Ontario, (905) 852-3073 on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Barbara's Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (70 Toronto Street North, Uxbridge) on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital or Development & Peace would be appreciated by the family. BRISTOW, George Elvin "Al" - passed away on January 5, 2008 at Scarborough General Hospital at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Macfarlane) and loving father of Don (Joan), Debbie (Ron), and Donna (Mark). Will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Michael (Tabitha), Matthew, Rob and Jodi. A private family service was held. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to either the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

CANNEY, Richard

CANNEY, Richard Edward - December 15, 1919 to January 14, 2008 Predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years Wendy Burt. Richard will be greatly missed by his children Linda (Ron), Jo-Anne (Gary), Warren (Janet) and Stephen (Barbara); his grandchildren Lisa (Michael), Jennifer (Alex), Adam, Melissa (Peter), Corrin, David, Keara, Braeden and Jillian as well as his great-grandchildren Jared, Mason, Rylee, Teresa, Cayley, Santos, Miami, Sergio, Diamond Blue and La Senza. Richard enjoyed a long career in advertising and public relations. Reading was his passion. The thousands of books in his collection are part of his legacy. He was witty and the ultimate wordsmith. His family will always be grateful that he taught them the importance of reading and learning. A memorial service will be held at Jerrett Funeral Homes, 6191 Yonge Street at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 19. A reception will follow the service. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request memorial donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Canada.

CLOVECKO, Catherine - Sadly after a long illness passed away on Monday, January 14, 2008 in her 78th year, at Sunnybrook Hospital. Loving mother to Reggie (Gerry Levene), Ron, and Derek (Gayle). Dear grandmother to Jessica, Rachel and Christian. Survived by sisters Phyllis Kosowich, Elizabeth Wilgosh and Sonya (Richard Plata) and brother Robert 'Sonny' Wilgosh (Laurie). Predeceased by brothers Carl and Ben Wilgosh. Loving Godmother to Gary Kosowich. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be held at the Jerrett Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge St., North York (2 lights south of Steeles) on Friday, January 18, 2008 from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. followed by a service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment Holy Cross cemetery. DONALD VINCENT COYNE Engineer (retired) C.P.R., active in the MacTier community and member of R.C.L. Branch 507 and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, passed away suddenly, while receiving treatment, at the Sudbury Memorial Hospital on Saturday, January 12th, 2008. Age 75 years. Loving husband of Maybeth (Cooke) Coyne. Don will be sadly missed by his special friend Deanna Norrie and her family. Loving father of Donnalyn Coyne and Richard Dubois of North Bay; John Coyne and his wife Louise (Gervais) of Ottawa; and Shelley and her husband Peter Middlebrook of Weston. Loving Grandpa of Patrick, Logan and Alex; Peter and Katie. Dear brother of Audrey Coyne, Marie Simpson, both of MacTier, and the late Bernard, Gerald, Douglas, Eileen, Mary-Teresa and Ray (wife Carol of MacTier). Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at St. James the Great Catholic Church, MacTier, on Thursday, January 17th, between the hours of 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., and on Friday, January 18th between the hours of 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated in the Church on Friday, January 18th at 3:00 p.m. Interment Hillcrest Mausoleum and MacTier Union cemetery in the spring.
