James George Hardie
passed away peacefully in his sleep, on April 2, 2004 at the age of 56. Beloved husband to Heather. Loving father to Doug and Stephen. Survived by his parents Bill and Helen Hardie, sister Barb and her family. He will be sadly missed by many family and friends. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Lawrence Gravelle
Peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the age of 75. Loving husband of Suzanne. Father of Mena, Diane, Brenda, Deborah, Victoria and the late John and Keith Gravelle. He will be missed by 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Service to follow in the chapel at 3 p.m. Cremation.

Dennis Gerald Hayter
Peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, April 5, 2004 at the Trillium Health Centre - Mississauga Site. Dennis, beloved husband of Doris (Dot). Loving father of Lynn and her husband David Reid and Mark and his wife Karyn. Dennis will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Tyler, Adam, Samantha and Mark. He is survived by his Brother Albert & his wife June, niece Kim and her husband Harold, nephew Paul and his wife Pat Eady. Cremation followed by a private family gathering will take place. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.

A founding member of the Faustina Hockey Club and a long time employee of Campbell’s Soup. Peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 5, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in his 89th year. Loved always by his wife Nancy. Loving dad of Sandra and her husband Andy Zwygart, Peter and his wife Brenda West and Paul West. Beloved Pappy of Carol and her husband Tom James, James, Greg and Heather West; great-grandchildren Jessie and Melissa James. He will be greatly missed by his brother Norm and his wife Mary West. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm & 7 to 9 pm. A Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday at 1 pm. Cremation. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

Jessie W. Boyd
Peacefully after a courageous struggle at Sheridan Villa in Mississauga on Tuesday, April 6, 2004. Jessie Boyd was a longtime resident of St. Hilda’s Towers, passed away in her 88th year. Dear sister of Jack Boyd and his wife Mae. Loving aunt of Kevin O’Donnell and his wife Cheryl and their son Duncan. Greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, Peter (Lorraine)Boyd, Mary-Jane (Scott) Meddick, Steven (Kathy) Boyd, Pat Cory, Jean (Alex) Clarke and the late Ian Gillespie. Much loved great-aunt and a wonderful friend to many. Cremation. A private family service will be held at a later date. If desired, expressions of sympathy to St. Hilda’s Towers Inc. 800 Vaughan Road, Toronto, Ontario M6E 2Z4 would be appreciated by the family.

Suddenly on April 9, 2004 at the William Osler Health Centre-Etobicoke, at the age of 90. Predeceased by her husband George. Loving mother to Jim and Catherine. She will be sadly missed by 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. Cremation has taken place and burial will be held in Muskoka at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Frederick J. Haslan
passed away suddenly on Monday, April 12, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in his 86th year. Son of the late John and Ellen Haslan. Loving husband of Evelyn for 62 years. Dearly loved father of Denise, Ken, Joanne MacPhee (Bob), Janice Stacey (Scott), Peter (Anita), Michael (Susan), Kelly and the late Karen. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Andrea, Kimmie, Sean, Troy, Shannon, Christine, Cory, Ryan, Angela, Leland, Kayla, Shalan, Emma, Tyler, Konner, Kara and great grand children Riley, Devin, Rory and Allison. Survived by his nephews Art and Tom Bragan. He will also be missed by many other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Mary Bragan-Neil. Mr. Haslan served in the Royal Canadian Navy on the H.M.C.S. Saguenay during W.W. II and retired from Canada Post in 1982 after 37 years of service. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Thursday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass Friday at 11 a.m. from St. Leo’s Catholic Church. Cremation. John “Jack” Livings
Jack was a WWII Veteran with Q.O.R. Reg., and was a longtime employee of Etobicoke Hydro. Peacefully on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at Humber River Regional Hospital – Finch Site in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Elizabeth “Betty”. Loving father of Susan (John), Elizabeth (Peter), John (Sue) and Robert (Dale). He will be lovingly remembered by 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
