Andy Smith
Peacefully at the Trillium Health Centre-Mississauga Site, on Monday, August 22, 2005 at the age of 78. He will be sadly missed by Cary, “his lady” and her son Scott; his daughter Laura Smith and her husband Larry; his son Sam and his wife Debbie; grandchildren Kyla, Hayden, Connor and “Aunt Mavis”. He was one of Toronto’s top commercial photographers specializing in architectural and construction photography and most proud of his aerial work. Andy photographed Toronto from top to bottom from the depths of the subway to the top of the CN Tower. A very special thanks to Dr. Michael King from the Oncology Clinic at the Trillium Health Centre, whose expertise and care gave Andy bonus months of precious life. To the nurses and staff of the clinic who made Andy’s every visit a “fun occasion”, laughed at his jokes and gave him the best of care. Also, Andy will be missed by his many friends at the Memorial Health Club, who exercised and laughed together. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. Hubertus Walter Ludwig Scheidig
July 20, 1929 - August 23, 2005
It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Hubert on the morning of August 23, 2005. Beloved husband of the late Johanna Scheidig (nee Strobel); he is now reunited with his one and only true love. Most loved father of Ute and husband Philip Winer and cherished Opa to his grandson Michael Hubert. He will be missed and never forgotten by Derek and Terri and their sons Evan and Bennett and by Marc and Ruthie. He was always there for his family and friends and exemplified the meaning of selfless love and friendship to all. He will be sadly missed by his sister Ilse, his nephew Rainer his wife Marion and their daughters Romy and Ina in Altenburg and Wolfgang and his wife Monika, and daughter Conny in Frankfurt, Germany. Hubert was Manager of Relocation Services for the Government of Ontario for 32 years until his retirement in 1989. He received many commendations during his employment with the Province and was a well respected and tireless worker during his career. He will be missed by his many colleagues. In Germany Hubert and Johanna were both Master Bakers. All the people in his life, in his proud new homeland, Canada, were the beneficiaries of his wonderful baking skills and there were always gifts of Cheese Cake or Hollander Schnitten to be enjoyed. Also survived by many other family and friends. Daisy had many interests, among them knitting, bowling and baking. She was truly a compassionate soul and would use her talents to help those in need or donate money from bake sales to sponsor children with World Vision. Peacefully at Dom Lipa, Etobicoke on Sunday, July 15th, 2007 in his 94th year and in his 67th year as a Priest. Reverend Father Franc Sodja entered the Vincentian Order of Religious Priests in Slovenia and was ordained on March 12, 1936. Predeceased by his parents Janez and Maria and his 6 brothers and 3 sisters. Lovingly remembered by his many religious brothers, nieces, nephews and family. Resting on Tuesday at Dom Lipa, 52 Neilson Drive from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 739 Browns Line from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Holy Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at the church at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 19th.
