John "Jack" William Laing
(WWII Veteran and Life Member of the Washago Lions Club) Peacefully at the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Monday, June 11, 2007, at the age of 86. Jack Laing of Uxbridge, formerly of Orillia, beloved husband of the late Ida May Laing. Loving dad to George & wife Yvonne of Stouffville, Gloria & husband Murray Hanna of Uxbridge, Gordon & wife Nora of Oshawa and Gavin & wife Robin of Goodwood. Loved grampa of Jeff, Kristy, Michael, Christopher (Jaimie), April, Stephanie, Erin, Jessica, Owen & Joel. Jack is predeceased by his 4 brothers. The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater Street East Orillia (705) 326-3595, from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. Wednesday. Funeral service will be held in the Doolittle Chapel on Thursday morning, June 14, 2007, at 11 o’clock. Interment , Glendale Memorial Gardens cemetery , Rexdale. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Oncology Department at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by the family. A Memorial Tree will be planted by the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes.

Edward Alexander Johnson
Suddenly at Soldiers Memorial Hospital on Monday June 25 2007 in his 94th year. Edward Johnson beloved husband of the late Mae Rutherford, Dulcie Smith and Gertrude Banbury-Crawford. Dear father of Allan and his wife Pat, & David and his wife Marilyn. Loving grandfather of Tammy (Rick) Bebb, and Michele (Paul) Fenn. Daryl (Shanna) Johnson and Janet-Mae Johnson. Great grandfather of Tiffany, Brandon, Ashley, Tyson, and Coby. Dear brother of Mona Bray (Bert), and the late Gordon. Also survived by nieces & nephews. Loving Grandfather to Sarah, Nicole, Stephanie, Chantel, Jessica, Ted, Tyler, Haley, Cody, John, Jim, Nichole, Cassandra, Christopher, Ben, Brittany, Shannon, and Melisa. Cherished Great Grandfather to Tia, Damon, Theo, Angel, Samantha, and William. Dear brother to Doug & Jane of Orillia, and Helen Marie & Charlie of Orillia. William "Bill" Archibald Ironside
passed away peacefully at the Huronia District Hospital, Midland, on Thursday June 28, 2007 in his 86th year after a brief illness. At the request of the family, private services will take place with interment to follow at Lakeview cemetery , Midland.

Muriel Grace Meads (Nee Squair)
Gone to be with her Lord, at Soldiers Memorial Hospital on Wednesday June 13, 2007 in her 88th year. Muriel (Nee Squair) of Lagoon City, Brechin Ont., formerly of Willowdale, beloved wife of 61 years of Don Meads. Dear mother of Donald & Eleanor Meads of Milton Ont., and John & Linda Meads of Alliston. Loving grandmother of Stacey (George) & Jeffrey, and Brentan & Krista, and great grandmother of Evan. Predeceased by 2 sisters and 3 brothers. The family will receive friends at the Brechin United Church from 12 noon until Service Time at 1 o’clock on Monday June 18, 2007, followed by a reception. A private family interment will take place at the family plot at Evergreen cemetery Flesherton on Tuesday June 19, 2007. Loving mother of Linda Elder and her late husband Dennis of Toronto, Jim Annis of Cobourg, Shirley Smith and husband Doug of Orangeville and Susan Archibald and husband Tom of Victoria Harbour. Cherished grandmother of Robin Gordon (Dave), Julie Brinston (Ken), Jim Jr. Annis (Michelle), Jeff Annis, Kim Paquette, Jenette Annis, Mike Archibald (Iraisa), Kristin Paquette, Adam Archibald, Cory Keers, Matthew Annis and great grandmother of Lara, Daniel, Danielle, Dakota, Andrew, Ana-Kaira, Ty, Keanna, Nicolas and Kalan. Dear sister of Dorothy Shannon, Carol Nickel and sister-in-law of Gerry, Willy, Bob, Joyce and Elaine. Predeceased by her brother George Hudson and her sister Frances Caster. The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater Street East Orillia (705) 326-3595, on Saturday June 23rd, from 11 AM until time of funeral service in the chapel at 1 o’clock, followed by cremation. Carolynne Anne Mills (Nee Chenier)
passed away at the Huronia District Hospital, Midland, on Monday, May 28th, 2007. Carolynne Mills, of Midland, in her 62nd year. Beloved wife of Norman Mills. Dear mother of Susan and Scott Mills. Carolynne will be missed by her siblings William (Bonnie) Chenier, Jim Chenier, Lorriane (Jerry) Lever, Judy (Ron) Groskleg and Susan (Larry) Dion and by her nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Lynn Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 290 First Street Midland, (705) 526-6551, on Wednesday, May 30th from 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held in the chapel on Thursday, May 31st at 11 o’clock. Cremation to follow. Audrey Elaine Kirk (Nee Oakley)
passed away peacefully at the Residence on King Street, Midland, on Sunday June 17, 2007 in her 82nd year. Audrey Kirk, of Thornhill, beloved wife of Guy. Loving mother of Elaine and her husband Brian Moffat of Ottawa, and Beverley and her late husband Trent Owen of Pickering. Dear grandmother of Guy and Anne Moffatt, Shelia Hall and Kirk Owen; great grandmother of MacKenzie Hall. Cremation has taken place, graveside interment of cremated remain will be held at Pine Hills cemetery , Scarborough, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a charity of choice if desired.

Ronald Keith Topping
Passed into the presence of his Lord on Monday, June 25, 2007. Devoted and loved husband of Betty for 51 years. A proud and loving father to Captain Kim Walter (the late John), Sandra Corrigan (Wayne) and Tim Topping (Jodi). He was a much loved Grandpa to his four grandchildren Erin, Stuart and Nathan Walter and Brad Corrigan. Son of Ida Long and the late Ralph Topping. Brother of Barbara (Don Plummer), Paul Topping (Norma), Sheila Avery and the late Carol Shean. Diane Mary Hooper (Nee Taylor)
passed away peacefully at the Penetanguishene General Hospital, on Tuesday June 12, 2007 in her 70th year. Diane Hooper, of Midland, beloved wife of Ken Hooper. Loving mother of David (Doreen) of Midland and Cynthia of Port McNicoll. Dear grandmother of Linda, James, Crystal, Destiny, Shawn, and Tyson. Sister of Bill (Joan) Taylor, Jack (Lynn) Taylor, Wayne (Shiela) Taylor, David (Blanche) Taylor, James Taylor and the late Don and Lorraine Taylor. Dear mother of Patricia Crandell, of Orillia, Ernest and his wife Eloise of Perth, and Shirley Cosman and her husband Stephen of St. Thomas. Loving grandmother of Wendy Armstrong, Roger Crandell, Paul Fay-Cosman and Sonya Kanerva. Great grandmother of Chadd & Dakota Armstrong, and Kirsten & Jordan Crandell. Dear sister of Emma Easton and Don Ryckman both of St. Thomas and the late David Stacey. Kriston "Scuby" Theodore Gilbert Starr
(April 21, 1979 – May 27, 2007) At the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, May 27, 2007, in his 29th year. Kriston Starr of Sebright, beloved son of William & Molly Starr of Sebright. Loving brother of Cecil. Dear grandson of the late Fraser & Dorothy Gilbert of Sebright, Anne Derboka and the late Peter Derboka and the late Nick Starr. Dear nephew of Marjorie & Len Adams of Sebright, Alma & Bill Hill of Shelburne, Ron & Elaine Starr of Mississauga. Loved cousin of Clint, & Bucky Adams, Peggy Foley, Karla Kitchen, Kevin Hill, Michelle Colhurst and Wendy Starr. Kriston will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins & friends. A Graveside service will be held at the Sebright United Church cemetery , Sebright on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 1 o’clock. A celebration of Kriston’s life will be held at a later date. Peacefully at his residence, Hawkestone, on Wednesday June 6, 2007, at the age of 68. Mario Varriano, beloved husband of Rosa Varriano (nee Selvaggi). Loving father of Anna Varriano, Gino Varriano & his wife Janet, Lili Varriano and predeceased by Giuseppe Joe Varriano. Loved Nonno of Stefania, Jessica, Alexandra, Christina, Myles, Emily & Ella. Survived by his brother Giovanni and sisters Gina & Rita. Following the Mass, Mario will be entombed in the family mausoleum at St. Michael’s cemetery , Orillia. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a Mass Card would be appreciated. Parish Prayers will be said in the Doolittle Chapel Friday evening at 6:45 P.M.
