Peacefully at the Leacock Care Centre on Sunday February 14, 2010 in his 88th year. Pat will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his family Mary and Paul Wilson, also Gordon, Muriel, Andrew and Dean McArthur, all of Orillia and John, Sharon and Amy McArthur of Spruce Grove Alberta. Predeceased by other family members Verna and Leonard McArthur, Steven McArthur and Calvin Vivian. He will also be remembered by the O’Brien families of Oro and many friends he has made through the years. Isabel Frances Townes (Nee Robson)
passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Trillium Manor, Orillia on Saturday February 20, 2010, in her 91st year. Isabel Townes of Orillia, beloved wife of the late Joseph (Chet) Townes. Loving mother of Betty Lanthier, Sheila Townes Sharlene Carpino all of Orillia and Judy Courtney (nee Ferguson), granddaughter. Loved by 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by great grandson Jack Cornelisse. Survived by her sister Joan Buker of Elmvale. Donald Hartley Lander
At the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Friday February 19, 2010 in hs 85th year. Donald Lander of Orillia, beloved husband of Dorothy Lander (nee Balmer). Loving father of Marilyn Russell of Orillia, the late David & his wife Deana of London, Donna & husband Paul Hutchinson of Orillia, Lynda & husband Lyle Dorie of Orillia. Loved grandfather of Devon, Gavin, Morgan, Mercedes, Braden & Brieanne and great grandfather of Sydney. Dear brother of Dorothy Ross & husband Murray of Oro and the late Bruce Lander. Donald commenced his business career with General Motors of Canada, principally in the sales division for 17 years. During this period 1 ˝ years were spent in the R.C.A.F. (Air Crew Pilot). He moved to the Chrysler Corporation where for 22 years held senior executive positions in Various divisions and subsidiaries in Canada, United States and Europe. These responsibilities in part were Managing Director of Chrysler United Kingdom Ltd, V.P. Chrysler Corporation Europe, Middle East and Africa, Group V.P. Chrysler Corporation and President/Chairman of the Board of Chrysler International and Chairman of the Board and President of Chrysler Canada Ltd. Briefly and prior to moving to Canada Post Corporation spent some months consulting and with the Delorean Motor Car Corporation in the United Kingdom as Managing Director preparing the vehicle for production and launch. He joined Canada Post Corporation in 1984 in the capacity of Executive V.P. and Chief Operating Officer. He was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in 1986 and Chairman of the Board in July 1993. Before retiring from Canada Post in 1994 he held various Board positions with G.D. Net B.V. Amsterdam, G.D. Express Netherlands, The International Post Corporation Brussels and Purolator Canada. Donald is the recipient of the Order of Canada and the Order of Malta. passed away peacefully surrounded by his entire family at the Penetanguishene Hospital, Bruce went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 5, 2010, in his 76th year. Beloved husband of Ruth Shaw (nee Burrows). Much loved father of David & wife Marilyn of Victoria Harbour, Laurie Shaw of Brooklyn, Rob & wife Janice of Lindsay, Sandy Smith and husband Sean of Victoria Harbour. Loved grandfather of Jason (Sue), Jacob (Meagan), Jeremy (Ashley), Becky (Brandon), Sarah (Shane), Naomi (Dawson), Matt, Jenn, Tiffy and Luke and great grandfather of Madison, Alexa, Aubrey & Seth. Survived by his sisters Janet, Marilyn and Sandy, and predeceased by his brother George.
