Patrick "Pat" Manning
(Lifetime member of the Intelligent Elders (TIE) Club, former member of the Orillia Horseshoe Club and Crestview Euchre Group.)
Peacefully at the Leacock Care Centre on Sunday February 14, 2010 in his 88th year. Pat will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his family Mary and Paul Wilson, also Gordon, Muriel, Andrew and Dean McArthur, all of Orillia and John, Sharon and Amy McArthur of Spruce Grove Alberta. Predeceased by other family members Verna and Leonard McArthur, Steven McArthur and Calvin Vivian. He will also be remembered by the O’Brien families of Oro and many friends he has made through the years. The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E. Orillia, (705) 326-3595 on Tuesday from 5 – 8 PM. And on Wednesday morning, February 17th from 10 AM until time of funeral service in the chapel at 11 o’clock. Spring interment at Knox cemetery , Oro. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Orillia Soldiers’ Hospital and would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff on Home area 4 of the Leacock Care Centre and the Continuing Care Complex, 4th floor, Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital for their care and concern.

Isabel Frances Townes (Nee Robson)
passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Trillium Manor, Orillia on Saturday February 20, 2010, in her 91st year. Isabel Townes of Orillia, beloved wife of the late Joseph (Chet) Townes. Loving mother of Betty Lanthier, Sheila Townes Sharlene Carpino all of Orillia and Judy Courtney (nee Ferguson), granddaughter. Loved by 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by great grandson Jack Cornelisse. Survived by her sister Joan Buker of Elmvale. Dear aunt to 2 nieces and 2 nephews. The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E. Orillia, (705) 326-3595 on Wednesday February 24, 2010 from 1 o’clock until time of funeral service at 2 o’clock. Cremation to follow. Thanks to the loving staff on Ramara Unit at Trillium Manor where she has lived for the past five years. She was not only a resident, she was their friend. Donald Hartley Lander
At the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Friday February 19, 2010 in hs 85th year. Donald Lander of Orillia, beloved husband of Dorothy Lander (nee Balmer). Loving father of Marilyn Russell of Orillia, the late David & his wife Deana of London, Donna & husband Paul Hutchinson of Orillia, Lynda & husband Lyle Dorie of Orillia. Loved grandfather of Devon, Gavin, Morgan, Mercedes, Braden & Brieanne and great grandfather of Sydney. Dear brother of Dorothy Ross & husband Murray of Oro and the late Bruce Lander. Donald commenced his business career with General Motors of Canada, principally in the sales division for 17 years. During this period 1 ˝ years were spent in the R.C.A.F. (Air Crew Pilot). He moved to the Chrysler Corporation where for 22 years held senior executive positions in Various divisions and subsidiaries in Canada, United States and Europe. These responsibilities in part were Managing Director of Chrysler United Kingdom Ltd, V.P. Chrysler Corporation Europe, Middle East and Africa, Group V.P. Chrysler Corporation and President/Chairman of the Board of Chrysler International and Chairman of the Board and President of Chrysler Canada Ltd. Briefly and prior to moving to Canada Post Corporation spent some months consulting and with the Delorean Motor Car Corporation in the United Kingdom as Managing Director preparing the vehicle for production and launch. He joined Canada Post Corporation in 1984 in the capacity of Executive V.P. and Chief Operating Officer. He was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in 1986 and Chairman of the Board in July 1993. Before retiring from Canada Post in 1994 he held various Board positions with G.D. Net B.V. Amsterdam, G.D. Express Netherlands, The International Post Corporation Brussels and Purolator Canada. Donald is the recipient of the Order of Canada and the Order of Malta. The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E. Orillia, (705) 326-3595, from 2-5 P.M. on Friday March 26, 2010. A Memorial service will be held in the chapel on Saturday March 27, 2010, at 1 o’clock. Interment of cremated remains will take place in the spring at St. Andrew’s St. James’ cemetery , Orillia. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation or to Georgian College, Barrie Campus and would be appreciated by the family.

Bruce Dunning Shaw
(Staff Sergeant Retired with O.P.P.)
passed away peacefully surrounded by his entire family at the Penetanguishene Hospital, Bruce went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 5, 2010, in his 76th year. Beloved husband of Ruth Shaw (nee Burrows). Much loved father of David & wife Marilyn of Victoria Harbour, Laurie Shaw of Brooklyn, Rob & wife Janice of Lindsay, Sandy Smith and husband Sean of Victoria Harbour. Loved grandfather of Jason (Sue), Jacob (Meagan), Jeremy (Ashley), Becky (Brandon), Sarah (Shane), Naomi (Dawson), Matt, Jenn, Tiffy and Luke and great grandfather of Madison, Alexa, Aubrey & Seth. Survived by his sisters Janet, Marilyn and Sandy, and predeceased by his brother George. Bruce will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, family and his church family at the Midland Alliance Church. Family and friends will be received at Carson Funeral Homes – JH Lynn Chapel, 290 First Street, Midland (705) 526-6551 on Sunday February 7, 2010 from 6-8 P.M. and on Monday February 8, 2010, at the Midland Alliance Church, 829 Yonge St., Midland from 12 noon until time of funeral service at 1 o’clock. George Edward Scott
Passed peacefully at Trillium Manor on Wednesday February 3, 2010 in his 90th year. George, loving husband of Jean, will be sadly missed by his children Allan and Lynne Scott, Fran and Gord Hunter, Ruth and Doug Brandt, John Scott, and Susan and Walter Lepard. George will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Leanne, James, Patti, Angela, Michelle, Mark, Shannon, Terry, Christina, and Andrew, by his sisters Christina Coleman, Charlotte deLegran, and Ruth Earle, and by all his great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by his sisters Gertrude, Marion, and Dorothy, and by his brother Allan. Retired Manager of LCBO. Jessie "Betty" Elizabeth Reid
Passed peacefully with family by her side at Leisureworld Orillia on Tuesday February 2, 2010 in her 91st year. Betty (nee Baskerville), predeceased by her husband Earle (1975), will be sadly missed by her daughters Marilyn (Alex) Carman of Barrie and Carol (Robert) Comer of Barrie, by her granddaughters Cheryl Kidman and Dana Comer of Barrie, and by her great granddaughter Kendra. Lovingly remembered by her sister Helen McKay and sister-in-law Aldine Clarke, and many nieces and nephews. Soren Christian Hansen
passed away peacefully at the Hillcrest Village Care Centre, Midland on Saturday January 30, 2010 in his 94th year. Soren, beloved husband of the late Inga Petrea (nee Larsen) Loving father of Hedy Longlade (Jim) of Port McNicoll, Ulla Andersen of Aalborg, Denmark, Cita Caskenette (Clyde) of Victoria Harbour and the late Ruben. Cherished grandfather of Kimberley (Philip), Tess, Dayn (Julie), Cita (Soren), Ann Louise, Daniel, Neva (Chris) great grandfather of Majken, Victoria, Rowan, Sara, Emma, Aicha, Newllie, Pippa, Suri and great great grandfather of Gryphon and Guinevere. A private family service was held followed by cremation. If desired, memorial donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Loving sister of Geraldine & husband Terry Laughlin of Orillia and Lorraine & husband Bruce Bingham also of Orillia. Dear aunt of Annette and Patricia. Loving father of Robert & wife Fran of King City and Alan of Toronto. Loved grandfather of Lee and Spencer. I. Marion Austin (Nee Humphrey)
Peacefully at Tudhope Manor, Orillia, Marion went to be with her Lord on Tuesday January 19, 2010, in her 100th year. Marion Austin, beloved wife of the late Rev. James Austin. Loving mother of Murray & wife Ruth of Orillia, Charles & wife Barb of Indiana and Clare predeceased. Loved grandmother of James, Karen, Sandra, Rev. Ray, Ron and Roger. Also loved by 17 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her siblings Olive, Pearl, Bob, Hazel & Lois. Marion will be missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Marion was a wonderful inspiration and blessing to all that knew her. The family will receive friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E. Loving sister of Bonnie Lambert (Don predeceased) of Brampton and Lisa Pighin (Brian) of Elmvale. Loved aunt of Alicia, Alexander, Lauren and James. Debra will be sadly missed by many family and friends.
