In loving memory of Robert Thomas (Bob) Greenner, who passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. at the age of 84.
Bob was a well-known logger and trucker in the area.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Dorothy Hampton; sons, Robert and wife, Eleanor, of Toronto, Ont., Leonard and wife, Yvonne, of Quebec City, Que., and Sidney and wife, Paulette, of Markham, Ont.; granddaughter, Maiko of Toronto, Ont.; and grandson Ramon, currently residing in Japan.
Bob also is survived by his sister, Dorothy (Mrs. Wes Redford), currently residing in Rainycrest.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Friends may visit from 12 until 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home.
Rev. Patrick Playfair will officiate, with interment in Burriss cemetery in Burriss, Ont.

NELLA SIMONE BAKER
In loving memory of Nella Simone Baker, 75, of Rose Manor, Fort Frances, Ont., who passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2000 after a brief illness with her family by her side.
She was born Jan. 6, 1925 in Pinewood, Ont. to the late Prosper and Georgina Davidson.
Nella enjoyed Bingo, crocheting, and babysitting her great-niece, Danielle, and nephews, Travis and Eric. She was a very caring and giving person, who was always willing to lend a hand.
She is survived by one brother, Leonard (Arlie) of Dryden, Ont.; three sisters, Verna Labelle of Thunder Bay, Ont., Theresa (Leo) Eberts of Wynward, Sask., and Eleanor (Don) Kuchma of Fort Frances, Ont.; and sisters-in-law, Irene Davidson of Sarnia, Ont. and Elsie Davidson of Thunder Bay, Ont.
She was a very special aunt to Diane Grabowski, Wendy Woodgate, Penny, Kevin, and Ricky Kuchma, and Kathy Bois. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Nella was predeceased by her two brothers, Clarence and Fred Davidson; and three sisters, Delia Carpenter, Isabel Nilson, and Helen Davidson.
A visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 30, 2000 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Father Eugene Whyte O.M.I. will officiate, with interment in the Holy Cross cemetery in Fort Frances.
Pallbearers will be René Davidson, Leo Eberts, Richard Davidson, John Morin, Ron Deschenes, and Kevin Kuchma.
Honourary pallbearers will be Gwen Bradley, Donna Mae Deschenes, Debbie Karpowich, Rosanna Gartley, and Rose Marie Morin.

SOPHIE DIETZ
Sophie Dietz (nee Gulka), formerly of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at age 74.
She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and John Gulka; and grandmother, Mrs. Tom Chorney.
She is survived by her husband, Herman; three children, Bobby, Sharon, and Sandra of Red Lake, Ont.; one sister, Sadie, of Atikokan, Ont., and brothers, Stanley of Edmonton, Alta. and Steven of Regina, Sask.

BERND (BEN) JOSEPH FREDRICK DOBRANSKY
It is with deep-felt sorrow we announce the passing of Ben Dobransky on Oct. 22, 2000 at La Verendrye hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Ben was born Jan. 24, 1949 in Stuttgart, Germany. Ben and his parents, Frieda and Josef Dobransky, immigrated to Canada in 1950, and settled in Fort Frances.
Ben is survived by four brothers, Peter, Donnie, Michael, and Will; and sister, Heidi.
Ben was married to Elizabeth (Betty) McQuaker on July 8, 1968. They have four children; daughter, Lisa Stone (Allan), granddaughter, Racine, step-grandchildren, Johnny (Sonya), and great-grandson, Christopher, and Michael (Lisa), and great-granddaughter, Jasmine; son, Shawn; son, Joey (Kari); and son, Benji (Myca), and granddaughter, Michaela.
Ben worked at Quetico Centre, commercial cleaning, the C.N.R., and was very active in electronics.
Ben was predeceased by his father, Joseph, on April 17, 1997.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 27, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church in Rainy River, Ont., with Pastor Pat White officiating.
Friends may visit Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 from 7 until 8 p.m. at the Rainy River Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Granville Dyson, Allan Pennarun, Fred Foulger, Tom Kreger, Thomas Sinclair, and Garry Halverson.

GEORGE EDMUND MUDGE
George Edmund Mudge, 67, of 1032 Victoria Ave. N., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000.
George was born Oct. 18, 1933 in La Vallee, Ont. He worked as a police officer for 28 years with the Fort Frances Police Department until his retirement in 1990. He also worked at various other jobs, including scaling with the Forestry at Quetico Park, and helping to resurface the Crilly Dam, Kettle Falls Dam, and the Calm Lake Dam.
He also worked in the mines in Thompson, Man. He guided on Rainy Lake and Lake of the Woods, and worked as a fireman/brakeman on a steam engine with the C.N.R.
From 1950 to 1954, he served with the Royal Canadian Air Force as an airframe technician, specializing in hydraulics. He also did an inspection of the Avro Arrow, also known as the Golden Arrow.
He was very proud of a movie Dan Akroyd made about the “Golden Arrow,” in which George’s daughter, Lisa, appeared.
He also had worked with NATO during the Hungarian Revolution in which he airlifted refugees out of Hungary.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was very proud of his flower, vegetable, and rock gardens. He was a volunteer at the Tuck Shop at Rainycrest.
George loved poetry and had a gift for reciting poems. He travelled around the world twice and was classified as a shellback.
He was an elected lifetime member of the Eastern Star #80. He also played hockey in his earlier years, and had worked as a cook at a lumber camp.
George was united in marriage Oct. 9, 1960 to his wife Joan, who survives along with daughter, Lisa Johnston, and her son, Erin, of Winnipeg, and son Guy, and wife Judy, and their daughter, Ashley, of Fort Frances.
Also surviving are four sisters, Shirley (Lyman) Adams of P.E.I., Helen (Robert) Hellar of San Francisco, Phyllis (Dale) Callaghan of Thunder Bay, and Virginia (Ted) Munch of Whitecourt, Alta.; brother, Wesley Mudge of Calgary; uncle, Tom Anderson of Fort Frances; mother-in-law, Hilda Cotton of Fort Frances; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edmund and Katherine Mudge.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 23, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Diane Clifford officiating.
An Order of the Eastern Star #80 Memorial Service was held prior to the funeral service.
Interment took place in Riverview cemetery in Fort Frances.
Honourary pallbearers were members of the Fort Frances Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.

GEORGE JOHNSON
George Johnson, of Crozier, Ont., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Midge; and daughter, Georgie.
There will be no memorial service.
NATALINA SHARP
In loving memory of Natalina Sharp, 83, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000 at Riverside Health Centre. She was born in Baudette, Mn. but she grew up and attended school in International Falls, Mn.
Mom will be remembered for her love of cooking, making quilts for all who needed them, and her generous nature. Her flower gardens were her pride and joy.
She was predeceased by husbands, Wilhem Richert and Murray Sharp; son, Larry Richert; mother, Sophie Havlock; brother, George Havlock; and sister, Mary Chernaski.
She is survived by son, Wayne Richert and special friend, Sharon Yurkiw, of Fort Frances, Ont.; daughter, Diana (Young) and husband, Garth, of Sudbury, Ont.; extended family, Jim and Gail Sharp of Sudbury, Janice and Reg Winn of Sudbury, Johnny and Robin Sharp of Winnipeg, and Duane Chernaski of Fort Frances; and brother, Billie Havlock, and sister, Ann Wagner, both in Arizona.
She also will be missed by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Many thanks to the Home Care workers who enabled her to remain at home for so long. Her family also wishes to thank the staff at Riverside Health Care Facilities for their compassionate care during Mom’s illness.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
ARLEY VARGAS
It is with great sorrow that the family of Arley Vargas announce his sudden and untimely passing on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000 in Alberta.
WARNER CLIFFORD JEROME
Warner Clifford Jerome, 86, of 1119 11th Ave., International Falls, Mn., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 200 at Falls Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 16, 1914 in International Falls, and was a lifelong resident there. He wed Arzella Cousineau on Feb. 9, 1948 in Fort Frances, Ont., and they were married for 52 years.
Warner served in World War II from 1941-45, stationed at Hilo, Hawaii and the Marshall Islands. He spent the entire four-and-a-half years in heavy artillery and water refinement.
He later worked in the cutter room and loading docks at Boise Cascade until his retirement in 1978 after 45 years with the company.
He loved fishing and hunting, and was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. He also loved watching sports and going to Kerry Park to watch softball games.
Warner was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the V.F.W., and head usher for many years at St. Thomas Catholic Church in International Falls.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roger and Elizabeth Jerome; four brothers, Ervin, Julien, Wilbur, and Richard; and one sister, Lucille.
He is survived by his wife, Arzella; sons, Roger and Larry Jerome, both of International Falls, Mn.; one grandson, Dustin Jerome of Littlefork; and brothers, Fred (Helen) Jerome of Carlton, Mn. and Eli (Dolly) Jerome of South Bend, Ind.
Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 24, 2000 from 6-8 p.m., with vigil prayers at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Rosary.
Funeral services, with flag presentation, will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in International Falls. Interment in St. Thomas Catholic cemetery.
The family would prefer in memoriam donations to St. Thomas Catholic Church.
