Elva Harper
With family by her side, it is with heavy hearts that the family of Elva Sarah May Harper (White) of Huntsville announces her passing on June 21st, 2017 at Belvedere Heights in Parry Sound at the age of 84.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on September 28th, 2017 at ­­­­­11:00 a.m. in the chapel at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Huntsville. A reception to follow.

Elva is predeceased by her parents, William and Margaret White; her sisters, Wilma White and Marjorie Hopcraft; as well as her brother-in-laws, William Hopcraft and Neil Bielby.

Elva is survived and fondly remembered by her children, Marlene Villeneuve (Rodney) and Gregory Harper (Geri); her grandchildren, Nicole, Jennifer and Christopher; her great-granddaughter, Madison; her sisters, Verna Bielby and Marylin Hammond (Martin); her nieces and nephews; and the rest of her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated. The family of Elva wishes to thank the doctors and staff of Belvedere Heights for their care and compassion for Elva over the past few years.

Kareen Ann Burns
Kareen Ann Burns (April 17, 1945- June 2, 2017)

Kareen and her daughter Meghan and family would like all her friends and fellow lovers of the arts to join them for a celebration of her life on Tuesday 6th June - 6pm to 9pm - at the Pub on the Docks.

We will share our fond memories of Kareen, enjoying the many stories and celebrating with a ‘wee dram’.

Should you wish, you can make a donation in Kareen’s memory to the Algonquin Grace Hospice in appreciation of their incredible care, compassion and loving support.

We look forward to seeing so many of Kareen’s friends – she loved you well!

Dorothy Yateman
At 69 years of age, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 13th at Algonquin Grace Hospice, Huntsville surrounded by many members of her loving family.

Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Mr & Mrs. Joseph O’Neil Swan, and her siblings, Joseph, Jim (late Evelyn), Allen (Joan), Neil (Sandy), George (Linda), Patricia (late Ralph Godfrey)

Doreen is survived by:

Four daughters; Tina (Fred Ballantine), Tammy (Gabe Paglia), Terri (Ed Fisher), and Trudy (Justin Godfrey)

Ten Grandchildren; Michael, Mariena, Angelena, Amy, Jessica, Ryan, Nancy, Holly, Samantha, and Alexandra

Seven Great Grandchildren; Kyah, Marcus, Aron, Zachary, Mikyla, Juliette, and Autumn

Eight Sisters; Belva (late Slim Earl), Marion (Barry Smith), Valerie (Cliff Walker), Nancy (Jim Hughes), Eva (Dan Campbell), Trudy (Ted Dyment), Joy (Mel Crewson), and Bonnie.

Also, well over 100 nieces and nephews and countless friends.

There will be a Farewell Party/Memorial Gathering at the Royal Canadian Legion in Huntsville on Saturday June 24, 2017 from 5pm to 9pm, finger food potluck. Donations will be gratefully accepted for Hospice Huntsville in return for the extraordinary care they provided and can be sent directly to Hospice Huntsville, to Mitchell Funeral Home, or given to the family for forwarding.

Anastasia Liadis
Anastasia Liadis, daughter of Konstantinos Diamantakos and Athina Polemenakos, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.

She was a wonderful woman, mom, yia yia, wife, sister, theia, and friend.

Loving wife of Karlos Liadis and mother of Konstantinos and his wife Jessice Murray and Louis Liadis. Grandmother (Yia Yia) to Sage, Dahlia and Kael Liadis.

She was an integral part of the community with Peter's Fine Dining Restaurant for over 30 years.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 6-8pm.

Funeral Service for Mrs. Anastasia Liadis will be held at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 High Street, Huntsville on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 11am. Prayers will be held in the chapel at 10:30am. Procession to Hutcheson Memorial cemetery following service.

Reception to follow at Family Place Restaurant 1 King William Street, Huntsville, ON.

Gail Dawson
Gail Yvonne Dawson passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at her new home at Kawartha Heights Retirement Living, Peterborough, Ontario, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the age of 78.

Beloved wife of the late Ronald Earle Dawson. Daughter of the late Elmer and Ethel Bennett. Loving mother of Kelly Ann Dawson Summerhayes, Kathy May Dawson, Krissy Leah Dawson, and their partners. Cherished and proud grandma (GG) of Zachariah, Lukas, Kassandra, Haley, Cameron and Matthew. Dear sister of Doris Young, Robert Bennett and the late Verna Markle. She will be fondly remembered by all of her nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.

Gail’s family will receive relatives and friends at a celebration of life event from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 High Street, Huntsville, Ontario, P1H 1N9.

The family would like to thank the staff at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Special thanks to the compassionate and caring staff at Kawartha Heights Retirement Living in Peterborough, Ontario. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre would be appreciated by the family.

Edith May McAllister
The death occurred surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 of Edith McAllister of Huntsville.

Edith McAllister in her 96th year beloved wife of the late Joseph McAllister.

Dear mother of Sandra Boal and her children; Tracy (Jason), Lindsay, Maddie, Jennifer (Jason), Robyn, Laurie (Mark), Nina and Eva.

Judy and her husband Ron Beach and their children; Doug, Ava, Maddie, Andy (Alikee), Ben and Hudson.

The late Raymond and his children; Stephen and Joe.

Kelly Petman and her child Taylor.

Erin and her late husband John Schreurs and their children; Caitlin (Matthew) and Ryan.

PLEASE NOTE: THE DATE OF THE SERVICE MAY BE CHANGED.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Edith McAllister will be held at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 High Street, Huntsville on (Friday, July 21, 2017) at 1 p.m., visitation will be 1 hour before the service.

Interment at Hutcheson Memorial Cemetery, Huntsville. A reception will follow at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to either the War Amps, Salvation Army or Algonquin Grace Hospice, would be appreciated by the family.

Grace Peddie
At 82 years of age, Mary Jean Grace Peddie passed away at Toronto General Hospital on August 28, 2017.

Mrs. Peddie was born at Sprucedale, Ontario on March 26, 1935 and was the daughter of Victor William and Mary Agnes (Todd) Hopcraft, both deceased. She wasmarried to Donald John Peddie, the son of John Carl and Emma Jane (Dailey) Peddie, at Sprucedale United Church on September 22, 1954. Her husband predeceased her.

Mrs. Peddie is survived by four sons and a daughter. They are Michael John (Lynn) Peddie of Parry Sound; Brian William (Alice) Peddie of Utterson; Donald Grant Peddie of Huntsville; Janice Grace (Jeffrey) Blakelock of Huntsville; and Andrew Todd (Jean) Peddie of Toronto.

Mrs. Peddie is survived by a sister Lois Amy Merle (Cliff) Tofflemire of Huntsville and a brother Victor William (Mary) Hopcraft of Gravenhurst. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Lee of Dorchester, Ontario. She is predeceased by her brother-in-law William Peddie.

She is the aunt of Mary (Frazer), Doug (Judy), Patsy (Don), Lynda (Tom), Kathy (Ed), Susan.

She is also Grammie of John (Meggie), Jennifer (Hans), Laura (Dan), Catherine (Eric), Corrie (Ben), Maryke, Bryna (Steve), Brendon (Sarah), Bryan (Sarah), Brittany (Sean), Bryson. She is also proud great-grandmother (“G.G.”) of Lilah, Tully, Abigail, Jeremiah, Hannah, Rhett, and Baby Sargeant.

Mrs. Peddie was a loving family woman who encouraged faith, hope, charity and wisdom. She enjoyed being surrounded by her loving family.

After completing her education at Sprucedale she worked for Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator with her sister before raising her family. Later, she and Don owned their own school buses for Huntsville and later sold them to Hammond.

Her memory is our keepsake,
With which we’ll never part,
God has her in His keeping,
We have her in our hearts.

Grace was a special person and will be sorely missed by family and friends. God Bless you all.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 11:30am to 1pm.
