DAIGLE, Diane - The family announces, with deepest sorrow, Diane's passing away in Sudbury on Friday, June 19, 2009 at the age of 55 years. Dear daughter of Fernand Daigle of Sudbury and of the late Pierrette Daigle (née Goulet). Beloved wife of Daniel Sweeney of Sudbury. Loving mother of Jennifer St-Amour (Jean-Paul) of Waterdown, ON, Shannon Sweeney (Shawn Dollar) of Sudbury and Jonathan Sweeney (Lisa Guido) of Ottawa. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Isaac St-Amour, Jacob St- Amour, Jordyn Dollar and Austin Dollar. Predeceased by her brother Jacques “Coco“ Daigle. Lovingly remembered by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and many relatives from across Canada. A Bachelor of Arts graduate, Diane worked 35 years at Laurentian University in the Commerce department and was quite proud of her recent appointment to the Department of Physical Plant and Planning as administrative assistant. Her family is most proud to announce that she was recently a recipient of the Presidential Advisory on the Status of Women Award. Diane was, above all, a devoted wife as well as an extremely proud mother and grandmother. Her good character and the kindness of her heart won the affection of her loving family and friends who will miss her dearly. She was a woman of strong faith, belonging to several local spiritual groups who will be remembered for her strong convictions and having been a staunch supporter of women's rights. Diane was a board member of many local committees: the Sudbury Business & Professional Women, the Presidential Advisory Committee on the Status of Women and the Sudbury Women's Center. She also represented women on the Sudbury-Manitoulin Training Adjustment Board. The family expresses its heartfelt thanks to Father Joe from Holy Redeemer Church and Marie Bouclin for their spiritual support and guidance. BROWN, Bruce Milton - passed away peacefully in Oshawa on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 in his 90th year. Devoted and beloved husband of Elsie; lovingly remembered by sons Bruce (Marilyn) and Barry (Alison) and by grandchildren Matthew and Lindsay. Bruce served with the Royal Canadian Navy in WWII and was a longstanding member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 23, the Rorab Shrine Club and the Rameses Temple. WHITE, Margaret ‘Berna' (nee Stoner) - Berna White of RR#1 Arva, formerly of Sarnia and Oxtongue Lake passed away suddenly at Watford Quality Care on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009. She was in her 89th year. Predeceased by her husband Cecil (2005). She will be missed by her daughter Bonnie and son-in-law Peter Furby. Survived by her sister Rene (Maynard) Walker, brother Keith (Pam) Stoner, brother-in-law Floyd, sister-in-law Mildred White, and remembered by many nieces and nephews. TURNER, Ruth “Chick” - After a courageous struggle, Ruth “Chick” (Liston) Turner passed peacefully away on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at University Hospital, London. Loving “Sweetie” of Donald West of Hampton, Virginia. Devoted mother of Shelley McColl (Wilbert Logan) and the late Patrick Liston (2005). Predeceased by her loving husband John Turner (2003), brothers Donald Clarke (2002) and Jim Clarke of Calgary (1991). Ruth is survived by her sister Lois Goudie and brother John Clarke (Faye) of Calgary. Nanny will be missed by her grandchildren Quentin (Stephanie), Dayna (Matt) and her great grandchildren Lily, Dylan, Kiana and Preston. Also remembered by her cousins Carol (Ray), Roger (Carol), many nephews and nieces in Kingston, Calgary and Vancouver and her lifelong best friend Terri Dobbs. Ruth was a long time employee of Simpson's and The Bay.
