It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of a most devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend after a very courageous battle with cancer; Peacefully at the Joseph Brant Hospital on Sunday May 27, 2007 at the age of 48. Beloved wife and best friend of Edmondo. Dearly devoted mother of Athena and Edmondo Jr. Cherished daughter and daughter in law of Teodoro and Francis Battaglia, Nunzio and Giuseppina Leone. Dear sister and sister in law of Frank and Terri Battaglia, Peter and Anne Marie Basmadjian, Brian and Anna Boyle. Caring aunt of Terry, Amanda, Robert, Madison and Michael. Sandra will be sadly missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Through her illness Sandra had the devoted and compassionate care of Dr. John Holmes, and also a special thank you to the cancer clinic nurses and staff of Joseph Brant Hospital, the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Dr. Anil Kapoor. Visitation at the Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton St. East. Tuesday and Wednesday 5-9pm. Vigil prayers Wednesday 8pm. Funeral Mass Thursday 11am. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Carmela and Bob Vidic, Carmelo and Judy Ippolito, Rose and Paul Capoferri, and Liliana and Silvio Bellardini. Cherished Nonna of Marko, Daniel and Julia Vidic, Cassalee, Bethany and Sal Ippolito, Adam and Amanda Capoferri, Michael and David Bellardini. Predeceased by her parents Rosalia and Calogero Scime and by her mother and father-in-law Carmela and Carmelo Ippolito. Loving sister and sister-in-law of Calogero and Maria Grazia Scime of Hamilton, Anna and Calogero Bellomo in Italy, Giuseppe and Cettina Scime in Germany, and the late Luigina and Giuseppe Pitruzzella, the late Salvatore Scime, Calogero and Carmelina Ippolito, Giovanni (deceased) and Giuseppina Ippolito, Angelo and Rosa Ippolito, Angela and Calogero (deceased) Falletta, Giuseppina and Salvatore Giangreco, in Buffalo. Survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Maria and Salvatore operated a stall at the Hamilton Market for 24 years until retiring in 2001. The family would like to extend their grateful thanks to the staff of St. Peter's Hospital staff of 2 West and Dr. Schwartz for their compassion and care. She will be dearly missed by her twenty-nine grandchildren (one predeceased), sixty-one great-grandchildren (three predeceased), and one great-great-grandchild. At McMaster Medical Centre on Sunday, May 20, 2007, Valentino in his 84th year, joins his beloved late wife Assunta (nee Gizzi)(May 12, 2007) after 52 years of marriage. Loved and cherished father of Mario D'Antimo, and Anna and her husband Pat Romeo. Nonno will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Marie and Angelica Romeo; Shane, Natasha, Avana and Sarena D'Antimo, and their mother Dale. Dear brother of the late Domenico and Trieste D'Antimo; the late Lia and Arnaldo Diluzio and the late Giuseppe and Giovanna D'Antimo. Brother-in-law of Giovanna and Pietro Di Vincenzo, Vincenzo (deceased) and Anna Gizzi in Italy; Giuseppe and Albina Gizzi in Australia; Petronilla and Berardino Pellegrini; Sister Maria Grazia Gizzi in Italy; and Marco and Denise Gizzi in Italy. Cherished nonna of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and predeceased by her granddaughter Sabrina.
