Rene Wilfred Thibert passed away at the General Hospital on Tuesday, October 8, 2002 in his 78th year. Beloved husband of Christine Thibert and dear father of the late Marie Louise, Alfred (Nancy), Anne Marie Thibert, and John of Brampton. Loving grandfather of Louise, Matthew, Sheldon, Brooklyn, and Denis. Great grandfather of Ryan. Beloved son of the late Marie Louise and Ovila Thibert. Brother of Irene Cralle (Clare) of Warren, Michigan, Clifford Thibert (Eileen), the late Russell (Irene), the late Homer (Loretta), the late Yvonne Maidment (late Harold), the late Aurore Desautels (late Rene), the late Eugene (Glenda) and the late Ronald and Roland Thibert. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the O'Sullivan Donnelly Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (corner of Cathcart and St. James Streets) on Friday, October 11 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations to the Sault Area Hospitals Foundation would be appreciated.

JAEHRLING, Heinz Willi

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved Heinz. His life began on September 4, 1931 in Friedrichsrode, Germany and ended with his family by his side on Monday, October 7, 2002 after a heroic battle with cancer. Loving and committed husband of 43 years to Elisabeth. Caring and dedicated papa to Doris and Norman (Pam). Best Opa to Taylor and Teagan. Cherished brother of Elfrieda (Peter) of Holland, Horst, Werner (Gerda), Kurt (Trudi) and Elly (Sieghard) all of Germany. Dear brother-in-law of Hans, Helmut and the late Lene also of Germany. Very special long time friend to many including Bert and Lotte, Erika and the late Dieter, Rudy, John, Wilfred, Chris and his many work and "office" buddies. Heinz loved his family, his friends, honesty and a cold beer and a good story after a honest day's work. He lived a life that he and we were all proud of and left no regrets. We loved him and respected him. We thank God for our time with him and also for the compassion and care that his physicians and the nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit extended to Heinz and his family during his final days with us. Heinz's friends and neighbours are invited to gather with his family for a time of sharing and a memorial service at Zion Lutheran Church on Friday, October 11 commencing at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Krister Ulmanis officiating. Donations entrusted to the family will be used to purchase items to provide comfort to in-patients and their families at the Oncology and Palliative Units. (Arrangements entrusted to the Northwood Funeral Home, 942 Great Northern Road, 945-7758).

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Gordon Abel who passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 6, 2002, in his 68th year. Beloved spouse of Rita Costello. Dear father of Cyndy (Jon) and Shirley Ann (Chris). Stepfather of Chris (Nora) and Anna Lisa (Todd). Best grandfather of Jordan, Angie, Logan and Katie. He will be sadly missed by family, friends and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, October 9 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. At Gordon's request there will be no funeral service. Memorial contributions to the MS Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Dear father of Ronald (Linda), Christine Becking (William Crumplin), Cassandra Brunetta (Mike) and the late Brian. Son of the late Elmer and Edna. Cherished grandfather of Baillee, Jasper, Samantha and Kyle. Brother of Eric & Terry (Diane). Son-in-law of Irene Chapman. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dear father of Graham (Paddy) of Cambridge, Ontario, Jim (Joyce) of Sault Ste. Marie and Jon (Diane) of Sudbury. Loving grampa of Pam, Chris, Katelyn, Courtney, and Colin. Brother of the late Ken (late Marion). Brother-in-law of Marjorie Martin (late Bruce) and the late Doris Margraves (Ebby Hargraves). Uncle of several nieces and nephews. Former owner of Lawrence's Drug Store, long-time member of the Central United Church Choir, Clerk of Session of Central United Church for 26 years and a member of the Northland Barbershop Chorus. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation centre on Wednesday, October 9 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Central United Church on Thursday, October 10 at 11:00 a.m. with Mrs. Joy McPhee and Rev. Beloved wife of the late Ralph Gauthier and Dear mother of Pauline Gauthier of Sudbury, Shirley Gauthier of Kentucky and the late Ralph John Gauthier. Grandmother of Leslie, Laura, Robby, Eric, Cathy, Valerie, Valvin Jr., Pierre and Blair. Great grandmother of 23 and great great grandmother of 5. Sister of Marge Johnson of The Sault and the late Faye Desjardins, Pauline, Edmond, Clement and J. B. Cormier. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Telfors (1986). Devoted mother and best friend of Janet Elizabeth. Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Robert Cross. Sister of the late Arthur Cross (Izaura of Bogota, Columbia) and the late Violet McKinnell (late Alec of Sault Ste. Marie). Aunt of Elizabeth Cross (son David), Susan Cross-Echavarria (Alvaro and son Alexander of Medellin, Columbia), Martin McKinnell (friend Mary Decker) of DeKalb Ill., and the late Malcolm McKinnell, Las Vegas, NV. Dearly loved by many cousins in England and Canada. Friends may call at the John Wesley United Church (corner St. George's Avenue & John Street) on Tuesday, October 8 from 11:30a.m. until time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Burton officiating. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, great grandchildren and by his nieces Marlene Leverington, Pam Haynes (Doug) and family of Nelson, B.C. and Glenda Livolsi (Eric) and family of Kaleden, B.C.
