Roger Vandenbussche
Mr. Roger Gaston Vandenbussche, 83, of Mitchell passed away at the Mitchell Nursing Home on Monday, February 24, 2003. Beloved husband of Maria (Romeny) Vandenbussche. Dear father of Blanche Vancoillie of Sebringville, John Vandenbussche and his wife Brenda of Mitchell, Rosanna Gautreau and her husband Rick of Goderich and Linda Hodges and her husband Ian of Stratford, loving grandfather of Robert (Kelly) Vancoillie of Georgia, Marleen (Craig) Watson, Ronald Vancoillie, all of Stratford, Melissa (Mike) McPherson, Kelly Vandenbussche, all of Mitchell, Jason Geldhof of Goderich, Bradley (Jody) Jeffery, Julie Jeffery and Jennifer Jeffery, all of Stratford; loving great grandfather of Aaron, Nicole, Michael, Tressa, Taylor, Jonathan, Christopher and Michael; dear brother of Maria Verhulst and her husband Achiel of Mitchell; dear brother-in-law of Mary Louise Vandenbussche of Milverton. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Remi and Renilda (Ampe) Vandenbussche, brother Andre Vandenbussche, son-in- law Roland Vancoillie and a grandson David Geldhof. Roger served in the Belgium Army during the Second World War. The couple came to Canada with their family in 1957 and had resided in Mitchell for the past 40 years. Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal Street, Mitchell on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Maurice Charbonneau officiating. Cremation. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of one s choice would be appreciated. John K. Hewitt
John K. Hewitt passed away peacefully at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton on Tuesday, July 29, 2003. He was 55. Survived by his children Tammy and her husband Rob Campbell of Stratford, John C. and his friend Crystal Blair of Rodney. Loving grandfather of Matthew, Riley and Mackenzie Campbell. He will be sadly missed by his mother Kathleen (Lamont) and her husband Wendell Slawik of Walkerton as well as sisters and brothers Nancy Lamont of Walkerton, Cathleen and her husband Richard Louther of Walkerton, Charles and his wife Darlene Lamont of Formosa, Orville and his wife Emily Lamont of Mildmay, Lynn Thorton and her friend Glen Brown of Riversdale, Diane and her husband Larry Hayes of Teeswater, Donna and her husband Issac Doughty of Walkerton and Bradley Lamont and his friend Deyanne Kenny of Riversdale. John is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews and four great- nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Charles Lamont. Visitation at Cameron Funeral Home (formerly Tanner & Pearson Funeral Home), Walkerton, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment in Durham Road Baptist cemetery , Greenock Township. Memorial donations to the Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Donald Steinburg
Donald Steinburg, age 70 years, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at the Stratford General Hospital. He was born in Stratford son of the late Herbert and Elsie Steinburg and had lived most of his life in Stratford. He was a machinist and had been employed at the CNR Shops and later at Dominion Chain retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. James Anglican Church and a member of the Municipal Golf Club being an avid golfer. He is survived by his beloved wife, the former Doris Ann Turner, whom he married November 15, 1952 in Stratford. Loving father of Debbie Scott and husband Bob of Sebringville, Doug Steinburg and wife Julie Misener, Tillsonburg. Dear grandpa of Scott Pritchard and wife Leanne, Mark Pritchard and fianc e Sarah, Nicholas and Justin Steinburg, Michelle Gareau. Great-grandpa of Bailey and Emma. Also surviving is his brother Rev. Howard Steinburg and wife Margaret and his daughter Karen, Chatham, brother-in-law Ron Turner, Oshawa and several nieces and nephews and their families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers Kemp and Bill Steinburg and his sister Thelma Steinburg. There will be no funeral home visitation but a funeral service will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Thursday, July 3, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. Archdeacon John Spencer will officiate. Interment will be in Avondale cemetery. Irene Edith Holden
Mrs. Irene Edith Holden, age 74, of 56 Maple Avenue, Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on July 30, 2003. Born in Melville, Saskatchewan, a daughter of the late John and Julia Decker and step-daughter of the late James Vickers. Beloved mother of Brian Holden, Brenda Holden and friend Wally Holst, Barry Holden, Blaine and Penney Holden, Blair and Meghan Holden and Brent Holden. Cherished grand- mother of Melissa, Kenny, Richard, Christine, Sophie and Zachary. Dear sister of Rudy Decker and Caroline Worth. Predeceased by a sister Loraine Graham. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, August 1, 2003 from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Rev. Joel Daniel Steckly
Beloved stillborn son of Ronald and Sharon (Roes) Steckly of RR 1 Millbank. Joel was born and died July 27, 2003 at Stratford General Hospital. Dear brother of Matthew, Jeffrey, Mary, Jennifer and Michael. Sadly missed by his grandparents Melvin and Marietta Roes of RR 1 Gadshill and Aaron and Elsie Steckly of Newton. Joel was predeceased by his grandmother Mary Roes. Also remembered by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Burial took place at Mornington Amish Mennonite cemetery , RR 1 Milverton. Helen Roy
Mrs. Helen Olen Roy, age 87, a resident of Hillside Manor, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2003. Born in Downie Township, daughter of the late Frank Herman and the former Clarina Schellenberger. Helen was recognized for her valuable contribution to the Canadian Wildlife Federation over the years. Her commitment and concern for conservation and wildlife was recognized on April 14, 2003 when she received The Queen s Golden Jubilee Medal along with a certificate from the Governor General. Helen was a member of the 1st St. John s Lutheran Church, Seebach s Hill. Beloved wife of the late Roger Roy who predeceased her in 1956. Also predeceased by her son Donald in 1968 and by her brother Ernie Herman, sisters Viola Herman and Edna Kohlmeier and by her sister-in-law Hilda Herman. A private graveside service was held on Thursday, July 31 at Avondale cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to charity of one s choice through the W.G. Hazel Marguerite Dalgliesh
Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Saturday June 23, 2001. Hazel at the age of 82 joined her beloved husband Les (1991) and her daughter Diane (Joe) Baker (1970). Born and raised on a farm near Blyth, Ontario the family resided in Stratford before moving to Burford in 1964. Left with cherished memories of their mother are her daughter Janice (Maurice) Monteith of Brantford, and her two sons Brad (Diane) and Drew both of Toronto. Hazel has five grandchildren Paula, Jeff, Chantal, Malcolm, Julian and two great-granddaughters Sarah and Samantha. Three Cowan brothers Ken, Benson (Evelyn) and George and a sister Grace (Tom) Evans predeceased her. Left to mourn is her youngest brother William (Vi) of Goderich. Friends will be received at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday June 26, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Terry Dunseith officiating. Interment Avondale cemetery , Stratford at 2:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Hazel s favourite charity The Ontario Hemophilia Society, Camp Wanakita Fund.
