It is with regret the family of Gordon Nott announces his passing on December 2, 2005 at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his wife Clair (nee Byrnes) whom he married in 1967, his son Gregory (Teresa), two grandsons Ryan and Kyle and two sisters Eleanor (Denis) and Leona and sister-in-aw Dorothy. He is predeceased by his parents Alvin and Vera Nott and his brother Lloyd. He will be sadly missed by his family, nieces, nephews and many friends. Gordon struggled valiantly against severe deteriorating health, in order to enjoy his life and continue his duties at the First Baptist Church where he served as a faithful member and Envelope Secretary for many years. He voluntarily joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 where he served his tour of duty in Gander, Newfoundland. When Gordon returned home after the war, he continued his education at Sault Collegiate and Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He was a member of the 49th Regiment where he served as Major and Commanding officer for some years. Gordon was employed at Algoma Steel Plant where he made many friends and then at the PUC for the rest of his working career. When he retired from the PUC he spent enjoyable times with his wife Clair. They took interesting trips and enjoyed playing golf together and in later years bowling. Gordon spent time on his computer and was interested in gathering information on his family history. He had artistic talent and was a gifted calligrapher. Gordon was a caring and compassionate man and we’ll miss his gentle teasing and sense of humour very much. Thanks to the caregivers on 200y SAH and Dr. McLean for their efforts on Gordon’s behalf. Friends my call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 from 6 – 9 pm.
