Great grandson of Hank and Linda Marzetti. A private service was held at the Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758) on Friday, August 26, 2005.

Peacefully at the Plummer Hospital, with her family by her side on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at the age of 70. Loving companion for over 32 years to Glen. Dear sister of Wendel Dawson (Marg), Margaret Cady (late Ken), Mary Bailey (Greg) and the late Harry Van. Special aunt to Peter, John, Elizabeth and Chris. Beloved sister-in-law of Gerry Torrance (Jack), Orval Spurway (Gwen) and Evelyn Leach (late Sam). Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Saturday, August 27, 2005 from 10 am until time of funeral service in the chapel at 12 noon. Rev. Greg Bailey officiating. Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the University Hospital, London, Ontario, on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at the age of 76. Thomas was born and raised in Hilton Beach, St. Joseph Island and lived the last 45 years in Bruce Mines. He is the son of the late Mary & William Wood of Hilton Beach. Loving husband for 54 years of Shirley (Porter). Father of Linda (John) Anger, London, Ontario, Nancy (Paul) Brown, Fingal Ontario and the late Wendy Tregonning, Bar River. Special grandfather to Andrea and Katie Tregonning, Aaron and Ryan Brown and Michelle Anger. Brother-in-law to Joyce & Ted Finlayson (Sault Ste Marie), the late Lois Porter (Sault Ste Marie) and the late Dana & Ermie Folco (Sarnia). He will be missed by his aunt Annabell Harten, his very special friends Bill & Bertha Cameron (Sault Ste Marie), plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. Thomas has owned and operated his own logging business, Thomas Wood Developments Ltd., for the last 45 years and is known as the “Guardian of the Kirkland Forest”. In 2001, he was recipient of the Long Time Service Award from the Village of Hilton Beach for 50 years of continuous service work. Friends may call at the Bruce Mines United Church, Bruce Mines on Thursday, September 1, 2005 from 7-9 pm. Memorial Service will be held at the Bruce Mines United Church on Friday, September 2, 2005 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Thomas & Shirley Wood Foundation would be appreciated. “The Thomas & Shirley Wood Foundation” has been established to continue supporting their favorite charitable organizations, churches, community projects, amateur athletics and providing financial assistance to individuals who have met hardship in the District of Algoma. Donations to the foundation can be made through the Barton & Kiteley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 165 Brock Street, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario 759-2114.

After a hard fought battle with cancer, Darlene passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 with family by her side. She will be greatly missed by her husband and best friend John Phillips (Jack) and children, Lawrence (Heather), Melissa Assiginack (Jeff) and Cindy (Larry). Loving grandmother of James, Jacob, Jessy, Sandler, Meghan and Hailey. Sister of Carol Lacko (Roddy) and family, Mike Lavoie, Tammy Reid (Albert), Amanda Miles. Best friend and daughter in law to Pat Phillips. Sister in law of Patti Dube (Mike), Bill Phillips (Sylvia), Paula Truman (Rick), Danny Phillips (Manuela), Mike Phillips (Diane) and Betty-Jo Phillips. Special aunt to Cody Phillips and many other nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses on the 4th floor Oncology and Palliative Care Units. A memorial service will be held at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, August 26, 2005 at 7 pm. Monsignor Victor Amadio officiating. Memorial contributions to the SAH Oncology Unit would be appreciated by the family.

The family announces with sorrow his peaceful death, Monday, August 22, 2005, after a courageous battle against cancer, in Sudbury, at the age of 54 years. Cherished son of Sofia Szwed (née Rygielslsy) of Elliot Lake and of the late Jozef Szwed. Beloved companion of Guylaine of Chelmsford. Loving father of Corina Baxter (Randy) of Chelmsford, Lisa Jensen (Mike) of Hanmer and Brian Szwed of Sudbury. Also survived and lovingly remembered by Guylaine's children, Danica Males (Denis) and Brady Spencer (Jen) both of Blind River. Dear brother of Stanley Szwed (Monique) of Windsor, Helen Lavallée (Leonard) of Blind River and Mary Mikac (Tony) of Kitchener. Predeceased by his brother Walter. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Ethan, Maren Georgia, Tegan and Hailey as well as by many nieces and nephews. George was a hoist operator for many years with Rio Algom Mines in Elliot Lake. A courageous and strong willed individual, George surpassed all expectations and battled all odds as he faced his illness. His inspiration remains a source of strength for his loving companion and soul mate Guylaine. Together they discovered a deep source of love and respect. His affection for children earned him the title of uncle George to many. George was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His spirit will remain with us, though he is no longer here. The family will receive friends at the Co-operative Funeral Home, 4691 Regional Road 15, Chelmsford, on Thursday, August 25 from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, August 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in St-Joseph Church, Chelmsford. Donations to the St-Joseph Church Renovation Fund or to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Special Noni and grandmother of Christine (Marc), Karen (Danny), Tammy (Dave), Terri (Randy), Johnny (Jeanine), Debbie, Annalee (Stephen), Jason (Amy), Jerry and the late Darrell and Buddy Anthony. Cherished great grandmother of 16 and great great grandmother of 7. Dear sister of Elva Eddy (late Lenard) and predeceased by Aldo Diamantini (late Levia) and Jean Guitoni (late Peter). Survived by her sisters-in-law Nancy Tomassini and Jane Barsanti. Special friend of Angela and Anna. Nora will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
