passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family at his home on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 in his 87th year. Loving husband of the late Ruby for 62 years and father to Dennis of San Diego; Brenda and her husband Doug Walls of St. Catharines. He leaves behind grandchildren Garrett, Lauren, Evan (and their mother Beth), Danielle, Benjamin and Jordan, as well as great-grandchildren Angela, Jordan and Isaiah. Dear brother of Ken LaJambe and Frank (Meg) LaJambe, both of Sault Ste. Marie. Predeceased by his son Brian (1996), brother Elmo and sister Geraldine. Al was born in Sault Ste. Marie and grew up in Franz, Ontario. His career took him from Heron Bay to Gore Bay to Thorold, working as account and cost systems manager for the Ontario Paper Co. for 42 years. He will be lovingly remembered for his enjoyment of family and friends, his integrity, his vise-like handshake and his affectionate use of the term "pot licker'. Al rested at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines where his family received visitors on Friday, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at the funeral home on Friday at 3:00 p.m. Funeral liturgy was held at St. Alfred's Church, Vine St., St Catharines on Saturday, January 28th at 11:00 a.m. Cremation followed. Loving father of Valarie Burns (Carey), Carolynn Mullin (Michael), Nancy Gugins (Richard), and the late Robert Jr. Proud Papa of Shereena Grenier. David Christie, Johnathon, Patrick and Amanda Mullin. Great Papa of Teyla. Dear son of the late Emmet Lapensee and Rose Bourgeois (late Joseph). Brother of Laura Mae Olszevski (Joe), Joanne Lapossie and Rosemarie Lapossie and predeceased by Aletha (late George), Nelson, Elmer (Louise), Ronnie, Monica (late David), and Clayton (Jackie). Robert will be sadly missed by his Uncle Alex Lapensee (Hazel). Brother-in-law of Valerie Nardo (Giani), Palmer Maniacco (Donna ), Jerry Maniacco (Judi), Jimmy Maniacco and Sandy Pruce (Andy). Robert is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Loving mother of Adam Matechuk (Reine), Joanne Matechuk, Nick Matechuk (Laurena), John Matechuk (Dian) and Linda Matechuk. Proud grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 10. Dear sister of Adam Lachowich (Norma), and predeceased by Louis Lachowich (late Elizabeth) and Josephine Selcage (late Joseph). Sister-in –law of the late Bill Matechuk (Nadga), and the late Stanley Wrona. Also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews in the Sault, other parts of Canada, England and Italy. Dearly beloved and cherished husband and soul mate of Lina. Adored and respected father of Ivo (Tina) and Laura Coccimiglio (Tony). Son of the late Salvatore and Teresa Iuliano. Dearest brother of the late Domenico (late Emma), Angela Mele (late Salvatore) of Italy, Pasquale (Rosa), Barbara Mele (Antonio) of Italy, Giannetto of Italy, Antonio (Angela), Rosetta Guzzo (Luigi) of Italy, Caterina Girimonte (Vincenzo) of Italy and Mario (Rosa) of Italy. Beloved son-in-law of Armando and Ida Muto. Loved brother-in-law of Brenda Magli (Antonio), Iva Bruni (Frank), Pasquale Muto and Nancy Palombaro (Robert). Loving uncle and great uncle of many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly always. Joe's life always revolved around his family, friends and work. He was so much to so many people - always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbours. He has left a void in the hearts of his family and all who loved him. He fought a hard battle with dignity, courage and hope.
