DELABBIO, May
Wednesday, December 13, 2006
Sault Ste Marie was always home to May (Zettler) who grew up in Blessed Sacrament Parish with parents Louella and Jack Zettler and brother Jack Jr. While working as a practical nurse for Toinetta Irwin May Met Danny Delabbio when she was still a teenager. He remained the love of her life. May and Danny had 3 children Toni, Julie and Dan. May was a feisty, witty woman with a keen eye for style and design. Her family and friends also knew her as a person of insight, wisdom and generosity. May's wonderful sense of humour and her practical get-things done attitude gave her the strength and grace to deal with whatever life presented. May travelled to Japan, Louisiana and Toronto to be there with her children as they celebrated special events in their lives. She always welcomed, loved and appreciated her children's partners and children. She will sorely be missed by Matthew, Ben, Al, Ginette, Annette, Caroline, Mina, Hiro and little Ami. (with whom Gramma spend a month in July) May was also affectionately known as the "big book lady" to some of the children at the Huron Superiour schools where she couriered A.V. materials for over 25 years until this November 7th. She was an essential part of the team with Rosanna, Al, Vicki and Aurel. May's hospitality and sense of fun will be deeply missed by many other family members and friends. She was there for her sisters-in-law Gertie and Dorothy, for her nieces and nephews, Carol and Gordie Delabbio and their family, Ron and Marg Irwin and their family, Zona and Norma Sauve and cousins Gail Davidson and Candice DiCorpo. Fred and Nancy, Bev, Richard, Ian, Kay and Cracker knew they could always drop in for a cup of coffee and a good chat with May. May was a loyal friend especially to Barbara, Helen, Jean, Bonnie, Carol, Nancy, Joan, Maureen, Margaret and Marge. May, you invited all of us to grow with you and you have definitely left our world a better place. Thank you. We will all miss you more than you could ever know. Depart in peace, good and faithful servant. Your work on earth is done and you have earned your eternal rest. Toni, Julie and Dan would like to express their deep gratitude for the exemplary nursing care May received at the Sault Area Hospital and especially the 4th floor at the Plummer site.
