We knew the day had finally come. A day we had grown to fear. It’s much too hard to say goodbye to the one you love so dear. February 25, 2005 at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, Ontario. We as his family are able to bring him home to Sault Ste. Marie for his final resting place, made possible only by the love and support of our families here. Lyle’s sister Donna Hadden, brother-in-law and brother Elgin Harten and mother-in-law Annabelle Harten. Lyle is predeceased by his parents Sarah and Walter Haight, his sister Glenda Harten, and his brother Bill Haight. On this earth, Lyle’s greatest love and devotion was given to his family: Phyllis (Harten) wife of 46 years, sons Kevin, Curtis and Warren, daughter Colleen, daughter-in-law Theresa Haight, and son-in-law Byron Coates. Seven blessed grandchildren: Janel, Laila, Andrew and Zacharey Haight, Delina, Ethan and Olivia Coates. Be at peace Lyle, Dad knowing that your strength lives on in all of us. Love Phyllis, Kevin, Curtis, Warren and Colleen. Lyle’s family will receive friends at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, March 4, 2005 from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm. Interment Richards Landing Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

McPHERSON; Marney (Mary Marguerite Arkley)
Wednesday, March 02, 2005
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marney McPherson after a long, courageous battle with cancer at the Plummer Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 2, 2005. Much adored mother of Mike (Melissa), Scott (Laura) and Mark. Very special Nana to Ella Rachel. Loving daughter of the late Ronald and Marguerite Arkley. Predeceased by her brother Ronald Arkley Jr.. Respecting Marney's wishes, the family will hold a private family service on St. Joseph Island where Marney spent some of her most precious moments. Marney would like to thank all of her bridge friends, colleagues and all of the special angels that touched her life during her rewarding years of teaching. In lieu of flowers, Marney has asked that you hug and kiss your children and tell those close to you how much they mean to you. Many thanks to Drs. Walde, Spadafora, Lohar and Reich and a great big hug to all of the nurses and staff in the Oncology Unit and Palliative Care at the Plummer Hospital. Your efforts have not gone unrecognized and we are grateful for the friendships made. Memorial donations made to the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care Fund would be appreciated by the family. (Arrangements entrusted to the Northwood Funeral Home 942 Great Northern Road 945-7758). I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend. Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding, Shawshank Redemption.

EVANS, William “Billy” Steven
Tuesday, March 01, 2005
(13 June 1946 – 20 February 2005) It is our sad duty to inform friends and relatives, that after enduring numerous medical challenges since childhood, and ultimately “beating the odds” set for him, Billy Evans, at age 58, passed away Sunday evening, 20 February 2005 at the General Hospital, Sault Ste. Marie. His parents, Louise and Edgar Evans of Sault Ste. Marie, predeceased Billy in 1992 and 2000, respectively. He is survived by his loving sister, Ellen and brother in law Bernie Kinghorn, and children: Jamie, Alison Howden (Mick), Denize Yurko and Jonathan (Michelle), and grandchildren: Sheldon (Denise), Kris, Kyle, Mikey, Tyrone, Tyler and Connor all of Alberta. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a farewell service at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 492 Wellington E, Sault Ste. Marie on Thursday, 24th of February, 2005 from 2 pm until time of funeral service in the chapel at 3 pm. Mrs. Joy McPhee officiating. In recognition of Billy’s deep and abiding lifetime fascination for Harley motorcycles, later this spring, 13th of June, we are arranging for his ashes to be escorted by a cortege of Harleys to Old Greenwood Cemetery. At that time, Billy will be interred there alongside his parents and grandparents, at a special “Harley” graveside celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Living Algoma or charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
