Loving and proud grandmother of 15; Sam (Valerie), Joe (Jayne), Carmelina Filice (Roni), Rose Giuliano (Joe), Franco Jr. (Kim), late Teresa, Christopher, Janice Primeau (Jeff), Robert (Christine), Aimee, Jacqueline Detablan (Nathaniel), Jasmine Bhatt (Vipul), Mark, Andrew and Patrick. Peacefully at the Plummer Memorial Hospital with her family by her side, on Friday, December 16, 2005. Loving mother of Dave Redfern (Brenda). Predeceased by her husband, John. She will be sadly missed by her three loving granddaughters who adored her greatly, Pam Auger (Kevin), Loralee Grigg (Danny) and Deanna Rector (Mark). You will always be the greatest Nana Rita and will never be forgotten. She also leaves behind five great grandchildren, Matt and Jeffrey Auger, Noah and Cole Grigg and Alexa Rae Rector. Sister-in-law of Vernon Redfern (Gertie) and the late Doris and Fred Miller. At Rita's request, a private family service was held on Monday, December 19, 2005 from the chapel of the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. The Very Rev. Garry Dobinson officiated. The family of George Dowdall is sad to announce the passing of their dear father and grandfather on Friday, December 16th, 2005. George, in his 87th year, was predeceased by his wife Jean (nee Banks - 1997) and is survived by his daughter Nancy (Bruce Clarke) and his six sons - Bill (Liz), Kevin (Heather), Bob (Bonnie), David (Sandy), Paul (Karen), and Peter (Christine). The memory of Grandpa George, his stories, and his pocketful of peppermints, will be forever cherished by his many grandchildren. George was born September 26, 1919, in Nipissing Township, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Together with his wife Jean, he enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was always up for a friendly game of cards. George was predeceased by his parents Deacie and Pricilla, his sisters Francis, Irma and Leoma, and is survived by his sibling Ivah Rose, Islah Downton, Lester and Murray. Visitation will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home (across from City Hall) on Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 – 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held from the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the spring in the family plot at the Nipissing Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
