passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital (Plummer Site) on Friday, August 1, 2008 at the age of 75 years. Loving father of Russell (Judy), Kevin, Ted (Heather), Chris, Jeanna Peach (Terry). Cherished grandfather of Jeff, Jackie, Mark, Matthew, Justin, Tyler and Paige. Great grandfather of Paige, Ryan and Jeffrey Jr. Dear brother of the late Peter, Edwin (late Val). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 from 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 10 a.m. Rev. Jim Moffatt officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2008 at the age of 93. A good man who made a difference in a life well spent. Beloved husband of 60 years to the late Ruth Evelyn. Loving father of Roy (Vaike) and Michael (Brenda). Cherished Poppa of Luke (Melanie), Julia Aura (Bob), Katelin, Kieran, Kellan and Michaela. Uncle of Darlene and Larry Bobbie. Special friend of Susan Foster. Jack was General Manager of Employee Relations at Algoma Steel, Chairman of the United Way, founding builder of the Sault Pee Wee Arena, Regent on the Board of Ontario Colleges and Universities and a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Hockey Hall of Fame. Jack was a man of great conscience, civility and grace. He touched the lives of many through an unselfish dedication to do the right thing. Eternally optimistic, he gave more than he took, laughed more than he cried and loved every second of his life. To him the sun always shone and it shone upon us. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family, friends and the community which he loved. A memorial service will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the Willowgrove United Church at 7 pm. Rev. Bruce McLeish officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Willowgrove United Church or the Northern Ontario School of Medicine Ruth Evelyn O'Neill Scholarship Fund. Special thanks to Darlene Bobbie and Dr. David Fera for their loving kindness. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre 759-2522.

It is with deep sadness that Gene's family announces his passing on Friday July 18th 2008. After a long and remarkably courageous battle with cancer, Gene passed away peacefully in his Ottawa home at the age of 67. Gene was a loving and devoted father to Abra (Nigel), Erin and Bryna (Kelsey) and a doting grandfather to Emma, William and Jeremy. Gene was the beloved son of the late William and Eda Adamo. He will be sadly missed by his brother Peter (Cyndie) and his sisters Sarah Fabbro (Sergio), Cecilia St. Germain (Jim) and Edith Nichols (Jerry). Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service for Gene at Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758) on Saturday August 2, 2008 in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations made to A.R.C.H. (Algoma Residential Community Hospice) would be appreciated by the family.

Our Beloved mother and grandmother has gone to be with her Savior, her husband and her parents. Concetta Desando passed into eternity on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Van Daele Manor. She was in her 97th year. Dearly loved wife of the late Giulio Desando and loving mother of Nicola Desando (Rosina), Concetta Michienzi (Giuseppe), Giuseppe Desando (Immacolata), Joanne Sirianni (Rosario) and Eugenio Desando (Leanne). Greatly loved grandmother of Concetta, Giulio, Maria, Yolanda, Andrew, Giulio, Raffale, Concetta, Joseph, Teresa, John, Celina and Cristina. Great grandmother of 19. Concetta was predeceased by her parents, Giuseppe and Giovanna Galera and is survived by her brother Giuseppe Galera of Italy, as well as many nephews and nieces. Friends may call at O’Sullivan Donnelly Funeral Home and Cremation Center, corner of Cathcart and St. James Sts. Monday August 4 th from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Gregorys Church, Estelle St., Tuesday August 5th at 11 a.m. with Msgr Victor Amadio officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Peacefully passed away surrounded by family at the Plummer Hospital on Monday, July 21, 2008. Dear mother of Daniel Miller. Best friend and grandmother of April (Kyle), Skylar, Amanda and Michael. Great grandmother of Andrew and Ashton. Beloved sister of Cecile Miller, and the late Gerald, Wallace and John Miller. Her memory will be held tight by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews (especially Nathan) and many, many friends. She lived her life like the wind as a gentle whisper or as a strong gust when needed to be. She always said what needed to be said and was always there when those around her needed her and her famous advice not to mention her secret recipes. Alice spent her life doing what she loved as a hair dresser and teacher. Special thanks to the compassionate staff in the ER, 300Y and Palliative Care. In respecting Alice’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations would be appreciated by the family to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH). Arrangements entrusted to the Barton & Kiteley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (759-2114).
