Wednesday, February 22, 1933 - Monday, March 12, 2007

On Monday, March 12, 2007 at age 74. Beloved husband of 54 years to Vera. Loving father of Katherine “Kathy”, Kirk, Richard and Lisa. Proud Grampa of Jason, Sarah, Alex, and Adam. Survived by his brother Richard, and predeceased by brothers Victor and Bruce. The family will receive friends at the McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Old Kingston Road, Pickering Village (Ajax) 905-428-8488 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2007. To honour Gerry’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service.

Cunliffe, Brian

Died suddenly on Tuesday April 10, 2007 in his 48th year. Loving husband of Diana and beloved father of Adam, Eric and Dani. It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Fred Scholl, on Friday, March 9, 2007. Born in Austria in 1925, emigrated to Canada in 1937, a 50 year resident of the Town of Ajax, Fred touched the hearts of many. Predeceased by his son, Fred and the love of his life, Mary. Fred will be sadly missed by his daughter Sandi and husband Zenon, Tina and husband Wayne, grandchildren Cassandra, Jordan, Tamara, Jesse and Andrea, and all his dear friends at Westwood Manor. BASSETT, Lois Audrey

passed away peacefully at Rouge Valley Ajax/Pickering On Thursday, March 22, 2007 in her 84th year. Survived by her husband, Ted, married for over 64 years. Mother of Barry (Phyllis), Terry, and Wendy (Andrew). Older sister of Jim (Beth) Gaine. She will be lovingly remembered by her 6 grandchildren; Nicole, Amanda (Shawn), Lindsay, Katie, Jenna, and Mackenzie, and great-grandson, Jenson. Following Lois’s wishes, there will be no service.

Cherished Nan of numerous Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren. Survived by her Sisters Ruth & Irene and predeceased by Ethel & Ernie.

Dr. Mary Jane McLaughlin, MD BSc FRCPC
Sunday, February 29, 1976 - Friday, September 15, 2006

Dr. Mary Jane McLaughlin MD BSc FRCPC, of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, died unexpectedly at her residence in Beachwood, Ohio on September 15, 2006. Born February 29, 1976 in Saint John, she was 30 years old. She was the loving daughter of Dr. Joseph McLaughlin and Jill (Stephenson) McLaughlin. She is also survived by sisters Margot and Lindsay; grandmother Elizabeth Stephenson; niece Lauren and many aunts, uncles, extended relatives and friends. She was predeceased by grandparents John Stephenson, Joe and Agnes McLaughlin.

An outstanding student, Mary Jane graduated from Kennebecasis Valley High in 1993. She received a Bachelor of Science from UNB in 1997, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from Dalhousie in 2001. While in medical school she was an active member of the Phi Chi is a medical fraternity, eventually serving as the Grand Presiding Senior overseeing chapters of the organization throughout North America.

Her medical training continued with an anesthesiology residency program through Dalhousie University, dividing her time between Saint John Regional Hospital and various Halifax hospitals. In June of 2006 she passed the Royal College of Physicians exams and was doing a fellowship in cardiac anesthesia at the Cleveland Clinic at the time of her death. She was ultimately planning to work at the IWK children's hospital in Halifax doing pediatric anesthesia and ICU.

Mary Jane thoroughly loved her work, and was highly regarded by her patients, co-workers and fellow physicians for her knowledge and enthusiasm. She had cultivated a large network of friends over the years and will be truly missed by so many people in so many places.

In her limited leisure time she often returned home to spend time with her family, brightening many holidays and special occasions with her smiling presence. When opportunity presented itself she liked to escape to the Carribean for a respite from the winter.

Resting at Castle Funeral Home "Kings" Chapel, 154 Hampton Road, Rothesay, NB. (506-849-1702), with visitation Friday, September 22 from 7-9 pm and Saturday, September 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held in St. David's United Church, Rothesay, at 2 pm. Sunday, September 24. Memorial donations may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, IWK Health Center Foundation and the Alzheimer's Society of New Brunswick.
