It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Melville (Mel) Lloyd Robbins (Sept 23, 1938 - August 25, 2007).
Mel passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on a beautiful summer morning.
Just as the sun began to rise, the Lord together with the love of his life Gail reached out, took his hand & called him to their side.
Mel’s greatest pride came from the two daughters he raised & guided through life.
He was born in Thunder Bay and later moved to Scoble then on to Jack pine, Cloud Bay and Stanley before finally moving back to Thunder Bay.
Mel’s love was for the outdoors.
He lived to catch those big Walleyes at Weikwabinonaw for the past 30 years, and exchanging stories about the big one that got away.
Melville was a talented story teller, whether fact or fiction, he always created a chuckle from the crowd gathered around him whether it was at the Westfort Prosvita or around a campfire after a day of fishing at the lake.
Predeceased by the love of his life Gail Robbins (Durham) and survived by daughters Sheri (Mike), Wendy (Dennis) and three grandchildren Amanda, Haley and Meghan.
Harry and Jean were the proud parents of 7 children with Mel being the youngest and survived by Ron (Betty), Alice (Laurence) and Pat (Elwood) and predeceased by Harold, Gilbert and Ellen.
In his early years, Mel worked construction with his bother Harold and later went to work at Sask Pool where he retired in 1992 and has been fishing ever since.
Funeral services for Melville Lloyd Robbins will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 1:00 pm at Jenkens Funeral Home with Pastor John Schmidt officiating.
