Hermina Marie Carruthers

CARRUTHERS, Hermina Marie (nee Lauzon) On August 14, in her 101st year, Hermina died peacefully at Devonshire Seniors Residence. She was a dear daughter of Gabriel and Locade (Charette) Lauzon. She was the dearest mother of Joyce (deceased, 2006) and Ian Howie and Fr. James Carruthers, C.S.B. Hermina was very proud of her grandchildren David Howie (Rosemarie) and Jason Howie (Lia). Her great grandchildren Andrew, Alexander, Sara and Peter were loved by her and the joy of her later years. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dear sister of Belle Flannery (Detroit), Corinne Schueller (Detroit), Helen O'Neil (Windsor), Florence Fowler (Arizona), Harvey (Tecumseh), Rene (Windsor), Raymond (Detroit), and Wilfred (Windsor) pre-deceased her. Hermina worked for twenty two years at Red Robin Women's Apparel on Ouellette Avenue and twenty years at the Windsor Insurance Company on University Avenue. Her family would like to express their gratitude to the sisters and staff of the former Holy Names Convent, Peter St. for their hospitality and care. Also the family wants to thank the staff of Devonshire Seniors Residence where she lived in her last days. A special word of thanks is offered by the family to Ann Hansen, her faithful friend and caregiver. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. PLEASE NOTE: Friends are requested to meet the family on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at Assumption Church for a period of visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment Heavenly Rest Cemetery. A tree will be planted in memory of Hermina Carruthers in the Janisse Bros-Marcotte Heritage Forest. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2007. All are welcome.

SHOOMSKI, DARYL (Longtime employee Exxon Mobil Chemical) passed away peacefully, at his home on Saturday, August 11, 2007, at the age of 43. Dear son of Jerry & Joan Shoomski of Kingston. Loving brother of Heather (Wayne) Howard of Trenton and Joanne (Don) Robb of Ottawa. Dear uncle of Trevor (Fiona) Howard and Corrine (Steve) Kokonas and Tyler, Jessica and Jason Robb. Sadly missed by his special friend Nancy Sun, and many other friends and colleagues. Daryl enjoyed life, including curling, cooking and most of all fishing. passed away at the Hillcrest Village, Midland on Wednesday August 15th, 2007. Ellice Ekblad in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late W.B. (Ted) Christie. Dear mother of Bruce (Dianne) of Mississauga and Brian (Joyce) of Georgia, U.S.A. She loved and was proud of her grandchildren Greg (Diana), Jennifer, Donald (Kathy), Kevin (Janet), Collin and seven great grandchildren. Sharing in Brian's sorrow are his family in Georgia, Christie, Denise and their children. Ellice was predeceased by her sister Esther and brothers Birger and Ronald. Upon retirement Ted and Ellice moved from their home in Leaside to a brand new home and lifestyle in the Midland and Tiny Township area. They were both active in the many local groups and activites in their new community. Friends may call at the Nicholls Funeral Home, 330 Midland Ave., Midland on Saturday September 1st from 1 p.m. until the time of funeral service in the chapel at 2 p.m. Cremation to follow. MacAulay, Heather Mae passed away on Thursday August 16, 2007 in her 50th year. Beloved wife of Ron. Dear mother of Terri, Sarah and Jamie. Loving grandmother of Dezirae and Destiny. Dear sister of Darlene and her husband John Jones, Brenda MacAskill and Tim Vinson and his wife Karen. Heather was the Past President of the Grantham Lioness Club. Friends will be received at the Niagara St. Chapel of Butler Funeral Home, 424 Niagara St. (south of Scott) on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at the Salvation Army, 400 Niagara St. on Monday 20th at 11 a.m. followed by cremation. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Grantham Lioness Club would be appreciated by the family. The Grantham Lioness Club will hold a Memorial Service at the Funeral Home on Sunday evening at 6:30.

Antonio "Tony" Santarossa, 77 years, passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 15, 2007 at Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus. Loving father of Wendy and husband Jack Parent, John Santarossa and wife Debby, Darlene Santarossa and Lisa and husband Ron Cherubin and the late Vicki Higgins (1994). Dear grandpa to Jennifer, Shaun, Zachery, Tanya, Tyler and Tianna. Survived by brother Alfredo and wife Marie "Finn" and sister-in-law Shirley Santarossa. Predeceased by brothers Andy, Gisberto "Cheese" and wife Madeline, Eugenio "Sam" and wife Ida and sister Hilda. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Will also be missed by Mary Santarossa and the Tamai families. Tony was retired from Wells Corporation after 42 years of service. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff on the 4th Floor at Western Campus as well as the staff on the 5th Floor at Metropolitan Campus. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-5 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers will be held at 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 9:15 a.m. from the Marcotte Funeral Home & Chapel 12105 Tecumseh Road, Tecumseh to St. Thomas the Apostle Church for the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Quinn, Winnifred "Winnie" Irene passed away peacefully after a courageous struggle on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Providence Manor in her 87th year. Daughter of the late James and Beatrice Standen. Predeceased by her husbands John "Jake" Quinn, and Leland "Len" Drady. Loving mother of Dennis of Kingston, Karen Hobbs (Ted) of Vancouver and Wendy Raycraft (Chris) of North Bay. Cherished grandmother of Alison Hillis (Michael) of Lufkin, Texas; Emily of Whitehorse; Bryan of Toronto; Carolyn of Kingston; Brent and Shaelah Raycraft of North Bay. Great-grandmother of Noah and Kaleb Hillis. She will be fondly remembered by her daughter-in-law Barbara Quinn of Kingston.

Bill Strong passed away, with family by his side, on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto at the age of 59. Beloved and adored husband of Patti, loving father of Brett, Sabrina and Allison (Shane). Dear brother of Ellen (Matt), Noel (Sara), Gary (Tena), Ken and Delia (predeceased). Proud Grandpa of Kayleigh, Alexis and Josh. Cherished uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews. Dearly loved by Herb & Grace Parker and the extended Parker family.
