ATHENS -- William Clair Moulton, 75, of RR 4, Athens, died suddenly June 29, 2002 at Brockville General Hospital after suffering a heart attack at his home.
Born on May 8, 1927, he was the son of George Moulton and his wife, the former Beatrice McPherson. He lived all his life in the Athens area, attending public school at Washburn's Corners and later Athens District High School.
All his life he was a farmer: first, helping his parents run a dairy farm, and later, running a small beef operation. He was preparing to begin haying on the day he died.
As a teenager, he lost an arm in a farming accident while threshing grain but this proved not to be a disability to him. He was a hard worker and did an incredible amount of farm work, repaired equipment for people and did welding and general handyman work. He was very mechanically inclined and was often called upon by frieds and neighbours to help.
He had a workshop where he spent many hours and where he was working when he suffered his fatal heart attack.
From 1971 until 1982 he owned and operated Moulton Fuels, a Sunoco fuel dealership. After selling his company, he worked at Maple View Lodge in Athens for a number of years before retiring.
Mr. Moulton was a faithful member of Christ Anglican Church in Athens, where over the years he held a number of leadership roles in the chruch. He rarely missed a Sunday service.
In 1972 he married Olive Friedland. Although he had no children of his own, he and his wife raised two of his nephews from the time they were small boys after the death of parents Stewart and Phyllis Raison. He was very committed to family and never missed a special event in his nephews' lives.
Besides his wife Olive, he is survived by his special nephews Kevin Raison and wife Betsy of Kingston and John Raison and wife Sandra of RR 1, Athens. Also surviving are his brother Ron Moulton and wife Muriel of RR 2, Lyndhurst; sister Verna Welch of RR 4, Athens; Olive's son Bruce Cooper of RR 2, Elgin; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his twin brother Clifford in infancy and his sister Phyllis Raison (of RR 1, Athens).
Friends were received at the Judson Funeral Home in Athens. The funeral was held July 3 in Christ Church, Athens, with Rev. Michael Bury officiating. Burial followed at Leeds Cemetery, near Sweets Corners, in the family plot.
The pallbearers were his six nephews Bill Welch and Paul, Brian, Barry, Kevin and John Raison.

Gerrit 'Gary' Endhoven, 85
Gary Endhoven, 85, a former reeve of Front of Escott Township and a longtime resident of Rockfield (near Mallorytown), died September 4, 2002 after a short illness.
Born August 22, 1917 on a small farm in Zoetermeer, Netherlands, he was the eldest of three children and the only son of Teunis Endhoven and his wife, the former Hendrika Colijn.
He emigrated to Canada in 1951 with his first wife, Nellie (nee Verdonk) and five children; a sixth was born in Canada. Lured by this land of opportunity and wide-open spaces, he set aside his profession of school teacher for that of hired farm hand.
Over the years he was a landscaper, insurance salesman and quality supervisor, finally returning full circle to a career in education when he became principal of the newly established Thunder Bay Christian School.
In 1966 he accepted the principalship of John Knox Christian School in Brockville, where he earned the admiration and respect of students, parents and colleagues alike. He retired in 1982.
There was sadness in his life. His first wife, Nellie, succumbed to cancer in 1970, and his youngest son, Martin, was killed in a car accident at age 21. Yet he was never embittered. He was later to say, when he married Tineke Van Putten, that he had been doubly blessed by the love of two good women.
For almost all of the 32 years he and Tineke had together, his activities centred on Front of Escott Township. Proud of being a naturalized Canadian, he used his retirement as an opportunity to give back something to his adopted country. He served as chair of the Front of Escott Library board for 18 years and as elected deputy reeve (1992-94), reeve (1994-97) and council member (2001) of Front of Escott Township.
His religious convictions embraced a big God, and he revelled in the marvels of His maker: the home farm, a good Hereford cow, a fiery sunset, a beautiful painting, a well-lathed piece of oak. He enjoyed a spicy rice dish, a well-played hockey game, the masterful engineering of a great car, the challenge of a tough crossword puzzle, the powerful message of a good book, and the laughter that goes with a story well told.
He cherished his family and took pride in the accomplishments of his clan.
Mr. Endhoven is survived by his wife Tineke Endhoven of Rockfield and five children: Rita Vanderburg and husband Bill of Toronto, Ena Rietveld and husband Henk of Huntsville, Nellie van Donkersgoed and husband Elbert of Guelph, Thea Ouwehand and husband Gerry of Mount Hope, and Tony Endhoven and wife Barbara of Athens.
Also surviving are his grandchildren Esther, David, Judy and Majid, Tanya, Eleanor and Steven, Alex and Willena, Cara, Kristel, Raymond, Kerry and Jeff, Sandra and David, and Ross, Heidi and Dan; and his great-grandchildren Tyas, Garett, Jordan, Shawheen, Shahab, Samuel and Christian.
He is survived as well by his two sisters, Dith Endhoven and Adri Hogeveen, both of the Netherlands.
A service to celebrate his life was held on September 7 in the Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Brockville, where he was a member for 36 years. Friend and pastor Henry Kranenburg of Hamilton officiated. Private burial was at Oakland Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Tabitha Foundation to support the work of Janne Ritskes in Cambodia (the donations may be sent to the Barclay Funeral Home, 1093 Prince Street, Lansdowne K0E 1L0.
