Avery

Walter Dinsdale of St. Thomas, on Thursday, November 4, 1999, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 67th year. Dear friend of Winnie Curtis and dear father of Wayne and his wife Julia Avery of London, Sherri Avery of St. Thomas, John and his wife Heather Avery of London, Amber and her husband Al Siple of Fingal, Charles Avery and his partner Nancy Teck of St. Thomas and Scott Avery of St. Thomas. Dear grandfather of Joe Avery, Justin, Amanda, Teresa and Dale Siple, Alex, Meghan and Nicole Avery and great grandfather of Sammie Lunn. Nephew of Marjorie Ripley of Dutton. Also survived by a nephew and 2 great nephews. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Elmdale cemetery. Visitation Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. A donation will be made to the Memory Garden of Pinafore Park in remembrance of Walter.

COVIL

James Herbert of St. Thomas, on Thursday, November 4, 1999, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 78th year. Beloved husband of fifty four years of Betty (Gardiner) Covil and dearly loved father of James and his wife Marylee Covil of Cochran and Gloria Johnson of London. Loved grandfather of Andrea and James Covil and Laura and Kristin Johnson. Predeceased by 3 sisters Eva Barned, Rosetta Going and Marion Constantineau and by 2 brothers Ben and Max Covil. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Interment Elmdale cemetery. Visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Saturday. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. A donation will be made to the Memory Garden of Pinafore Park in remembrance of Jim.

RODNEY

At his late residence in St. Thomas, peacefully on Thursday, November 4, 1999. Rev. Dr. Harry Scott Rodney, B.A., B.D., D.D. (Minister Emeritus of Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas), in his 85th year. Dr. Rodney was the active minister at Knox Presbyterian Church from 1944 until 1996. Beloved husband of Mrs. Ruth (Page) Rodney and the late Mrs. Margaret (Hughston) Rodney (1986). Lovingly remembered by Rhonda, Robin and Roxan and grandchildren. Cherished brother of Mrs. Evelyn Byrd and her husband Clayton of Kemptville. Missed by nieces, nephews and cousins. A public funeral service will be conducted at Knox Presbyterian Church (Hincks & Mitchell Streets), St. Thomas on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Private interment in Elmdale Memorial Park, St. Thomas. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Gifford-Jones Professorship in Palliative Care. There will be no public visitation at the funeral home. Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas entrusted with the arrangements.
