ATHENS -- Guy Vincent Moore, 83, formerly of Broadway Avenue, Brockville, died September 14, 2003 at Sherwood Park Manor. He had been ill for five or six years.
Born February 3, 1920 at New Dublin, he was the son of Joseph Vincent Moore and the former Mary Jane Moulton. He was raised and educated at New Dublin and married Leora Watts on March 12, 1941 in Addison United Church.
He joined the Canadian army on May 20, 1941, during the Second World War and served in Cornwall until July 15, 1941, when he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and went overseas. He served until January 15, 1946, receiving an honourable discharge as a leading aircraftman, from Lachine, Que.
Mr. Moore made his living as a plumber.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 96 in Brockville and enjoyed darts, cards, fishing and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife on October 1, 1992, but is survived by his son Robert Moore and wife Dianne of Prescott and his daughter Bonnie Woolley and husband Alan of Brockville.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Sherri Lyn Selleck and husband Scott of North Augusta, Jason Moore and wife Brandi of Algonquin, Kevin Moore of Milton, Ont., Jasmine Moore and Mike McKay, both of Prescott, and Jeffrey Woolley of Brockville.
Seven grandchildren survive: Keersten, Raygen and Cameron Cook, Jayden and Daci Moore and Christine and Chelsea Woolley.
He is also survived by his niece Norma Flood of RR 4, Mallorytown, and his nephew Gary Moore and wife Beatrice of Mallorytown.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Reginald Moore and Harland Moore, a grandson Andrew Moore and a nephew Glen Moore in infancy.
Friends called at the Judson Funeral Home, Athens, where on September 16 the Legion Branch 96 held a memorial service. The funeral was September 17 in the Judson Chapel, with Rev. Roy Nixon officiating. Burial followed in the family plot in Glen Elbe Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Fred Fouzie, Jeffrey Woolley, Mike McKay, Ivan Pike, Jason Moore and Scott Selleck.
Memorial donations were directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Robert Gordon 'Bob' Fraser, 74
PRESCOTT -- Robert Gordon "Bob" Fraser, 74, of Brockville, died September 17, 2003 at Brockville General Hospital.
He was born September 30, 1928, in Prescott to John Fraser and the former Vera Perrin. He married Joan Preston on September 5, 1949, in Brockville.
He was a packer at Canada Starch for 33 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed being with his family, going hunting, fishing and camping and doing woodworking.
Mr. Fraser is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Diane O'Hare and husband Henry, and three sons, Gordon and wife Sue, David and wife Laurie and Randy and wife Darlene.
Also surviving are his sister Patricia Locke and grandchildren Scott McDonald, Shelley Rossetti, Liz McLean, Sarah Kijewski, Stacy Lemieux and Lisa, Ryan, Justin, Cody and Chelsea Fraser, and great-grandchildren Brieanna and Kallie McLean and Alisha, Sophia and Olivia Rossetti.
Friends called at the Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott, where on September 19 a private funeral was held, with Rev. Bev. Lindsay officiating. Burial followed at Sandy Hill Cemetery, Prescott.
The pallbearers were Ryan, Justin and Cody Fraser, Ken Rossetti and Ian Kijewski. Memorial donations were directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Alfred Lanclot Dalton, 87
Alfred Lanclot Dalton, 87, of Gananoque, died September 13, 2003 at Kingston General Hospital.
He was born August 14, 1916, in Bigrigg, Cumbria, England, to John Dalton and the former Maria Litt. He was raised and educated in England and worked in a shipyard there during the Second World War.
In 1952 he immigrated to Canada and lived in Trenton, Ont., where he was a maintenance engineer at Pyrotenex for five years. Then he moved to Brockville and worked as a project engineer at Phillips Cables from 1957 until his retirement in 1982.
Mr. Dalton was a member of the American Institute of Plant Engineers. He got his pilot's licence when he was 60 years old. He also belonged to the Sussex Masonic Lodge No. 5 AF and AM and the Gondemar Preceptory, Scottish Rite and Brockville Shrine Club.
He enjoyed painting and was a member of the Thousand Islands Fine Arts Association. He also belonged to the Rockport Breakfast Club and the Brockville Country Club, enjoyed woodworking and camping, and had travelled to England and Alaska.
Mr. Dalton was predeceased by his first two wives, Margaret Middlemass and Amy Morris, but he is survived by his third, the former Doreen Myrtle McMaster.
Also surviving are his daughter, Patricia Steward, of Cromer, Norfolk, England; two sisters, Mary Findlay of Boroughridge, North York, England and Nancy Taylor of Eastbourne, Sussex, England; two grandsons, Gary Steward and wife Helen of Norwich, England, and Martin Steward of Cromer, and one great-grandchild, as well as nieces/nephews, Dennis Findlay and wife Eileen, Howard Taylor, Stephen Taylor and Allison Taylor and a cousin, Bill Litt, and wife Joyce.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Annie Ballantyne.
The funeral was held September 18 in Christ Church Anglican, Gananoque, with Rev. Maico Michielin officiating. Burial will be in England at a later date.
Memorial donations to the Christ Church Anglican Organ Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, among other charities, were gratefully acknowledged by the family.

Edna Mabel Grace Selleck
Edna Mabel Grace Selleck died September 15, 2003 at St. Lawrence Lodge.
She was born in Spencerville (date not supplied) to John Wesley Pittman and the former Susan Elizabeth Wilkinson. She grew up in Spencerville and helped on her father's farm.
After her marriage to Roy Palmer Selleck on December 30, 1930, in the Presbyterian Church in Prescott, she moved to Finch, Ont., for a year, and then, with her husband, operated a general store and gas bar on Highway 16 for five years.
In 1941 she moved to Brockville where she lived the rest of her life. She was a member of Wall Street United Church and its United Church Women group. She also volunteered with the Brockville General Hospital Auxiliary, working in its canteen for a number of years.
Mrs. Selleck enjoyed traveling and had visited the west coast and Vancouver. She loved to read, cook and play cards.
She is survived by her son Dorrance "Sam" Selleck and wife Kennetha of RR 4, Mallorytown, grandchildren Mark Selleck and wife Terry of Kemptville and Marcia Selleck of Brockville and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, sisters Florence Kearns and Edith Robinson and brothers Lorne, Herbert and Edward Pittman.
Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home, Brockville, where on September 17 the funeral was held, with Rev. Dr. Alan Bennett officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery.

Roy Howe, 78
Roy Blake Howe, 78, a retired dairy farmer and lover of horses, died of heart failure July 13, 2003 at St. Lawrence Lodge. He had resided on Graham Lake Road but had been ill for the past six years.
Born January 28, 1925 in Brockville, he was the son of Fred Blake Howe and the former Stella Scott. He was raised and educated in Addison.
As a young man he farmed on the family homestead in the Addison area. He also delivered mail in the Addison area for 14 years.
In 1965 he bought the Strikefoot Farm in Lyn and was a dairy farmer. After selling the Strikefoot Farm, he kept a few beef cattle and worked for Mary Hudson, of Burnbrae Farms, with her horses for a number of years.
He loved horses and always had horses on his farm. He belonged to the Leeds County Draft Horse Club and enjoyed harness racing and horse draws at fairs.
He joined the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge No. 85 GRC in Athens in March 1957 and was worshipful master in 1967. He joined the Vimy Ridge Chapter No. 129 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Athens in 1967 and was worthy patron in 1968-69 and 1978-79.
He identified with Christ United Church, in Lyn, but it was in Trinity Anglican Church, Brockville, that he married Elizabeth McNamara Bowen on September 1, 1967.
His greatest enjoyment in his last years came from being with his family for special dinners and spending time with his grandsons.
Mr. Howe is survived by his wife Elizabeth Howe and three sons, Steven Howe and wife Rachel of Mallorytown, Michael Bowen of Brockville and Kerry Bowen and wife Diane of Tincap, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Clem and Tom Howe, and sisters Cora Root and Marjorie Gifford.
Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home, Brockville, where on September 16 Rising Sun Masonic Lodge No. 85 GRC and Vimy Ridge Chapter No. 129 Order of the Eastern Star both held memorial services.
The funeral was held September 17 in the Barclay Chapel, with Rev. Jean Baker, of Christ United Church, Lyn, officiating. Sylvia Howe gave the eulogy. Burial followed at Lyn Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Bob Harrison, Fred McNeely, Cliff Chisamore, Reg Doyle, Don Howe and Alfred "Chubby" Kelly. Fred Irish was the honorary pallbearer.
Memorial donations were directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Christ United Church in Lyn and the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
