Robert Wayne Neill, 58, a registered nurse at Brockville Psychiatric Hospital, died of colon cancer at his home on August 16, 2003. He had been ill for two years.
Born June 11, 1945, in Kingston, he was the son of Walter Neill and the former Ruth Revell, both of whom predeceased their son. He was raised in Kingston and came to Brockville in December 1979.
While working full time as a registered nursing assistant, he enrolled in the registered nursing program. After successfully completing it, he received his provincial RN registration. He worked at BPH until August 2001, when he went on sick leave.
His interests included model railroading, building model ships and planes, loving many pet animals over the years, and playing bingo.
Mr. Neill is survived by his wife Debbie Neill and daughter Audrey Elizabeth Neill, both of Brockville, grandchildren Joshua and Sarah, brother Douglas Neill of Kingston, sisters-in-law Phyllis Mackey, Wilda and Audrey, all of Kingston, 15 nieces/nephews, 20 great-nieces/nephews and two great-great-nieces/nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Donald, James "Pete" and Walter "Bud" Neill and sister-in-law Marge, as well as nephews Jimmy Neill and Greg Walker, great-niece Sheila Neill, great-great-nephew MacKenzie Carol and his parents-in-law Harold and Audrey Walker.
Friends called at the Irvine Funeral Home, Brockville, where on August 21 the funeral was held, with Rev. Nelson Trafford officiating. The eulogy was given by Don Wall and a poem was read by granddaughter Sarah Neill. Burial followed at the Bissell Cemetery near Algonquin.
The pallbearers were Blaine, Chris and Don Neill, Tom Page, Jason Palmer and Kent Walker. The honorary pallbearers were Barry Ayotte, Richard Berube, Don Hughes, Murray Latham Sr., Stan Palmer and Don Wall.
Memorial donations were directed to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Corinna Dillabough, 34
Anna Corinna Dillabough died suddenly and peacefully August 10, 2003 at the age of 34.
She was born June 18, 1969 in Kemptville to Jack Feenstra and the former Anka Hofstra. She attended Oxford-on-Rideau Public School and North Grenville District High School. As a teenager she was an avid figure skater.
She worked at the IGA grocery and the Bi-Way in Kemptville before becoming a longtime employee of 3M Canada in Brockville, where she was a reliable and diligent worker.
On June 8, 1991, she married her high school sweetheart, Sam Dillabough.
She enjoyed snowmobiling, jetskiing and traveling with her husband, when time permitted. Her favourite activity was testing her skills on the stock market.
Mrs. Dillabough is survived by her husband Sam of Merrickville, her parents Jack and Anka Feenstra of Kemptville, brother Jeff of Kemptville and sister Marsha "Sabrina" Feenstra of Ottawa.
Also surviving are her parents-in-law Lyle and Elsie Dillabough of North Augusta, sisters-in-law Donna Grant and husband Greg of North Augusta and Jeannie Dillabough and husband Brad Marion of Merrickville, niece Jessica Grant and nephews Ryan Grant and Eric and Ethan Marion.
She was predeceased by her infant daughter Samantha Dawn.
The funeral was held August 14 at the Grant Brown Funeral Home, Rolston Chapel, in Kemptville, with Pastor Ben Ponsen of the Christian Reformed Church in Kemptville officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery, River Road, Merrickville.
The pallbearers were Dale Armstrong, Chris Dennis, Jeff Feenstra, Greg Grant, Rick Hill and Dean McAllister.
Memorial donations were made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Lupus Foundation.
Guy Moore, 83
ATHENS -- Guy Vincent Moore, 83, formerly of Broadway Avenue, Brockville, died September 14, 2003 at Sherwood Park Manor. He had been ill for five or six years.
Born February 3, 1920 at New Dublin, he was the son of Joseph Vincent Moore and the former Mary Jane Moulton. He was raised and educated at New Dublin and married Leora Watts on March 12, 1941 in Addison United Church.
He joined the Canadian army on May 20, 1941, during the Second World War and served in Cornwall until July 15, 1941, when he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and went overseas. He served until January 15, 1946, receiving an honourable discharge as a leading aircraftman, from Lachine, Que.
Mr. Moore made his living as a plumber.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 96 in Brockville and enjoyed darts, cards, fishing and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife on October 1, 1992, but is survived by his son Robert Moore and wife Dianne of Prescott and his daughter Bonnie Woolley and husband Alan of Brockville.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Sherri Lyn Selleck and husband Scott of North Augusta, Jason Moore and wife Brandi of Algonquin, Kevin Moore of Milton, Ont., Jasmine Moore and Mike McKay, both of Prescott, and Jeffrey Woolley of Brockville.
Seven grandchildren survive: Keersten, Raygen and Cameron Cook, Jayden and Daci Moore and Christine and Chelsea Woolley.
He is also survived by his niece Norma Flood of RR 4, Mallorytown, and his nephew Gary Moore and wife Beatrice of Mallorytown.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Reginald Moore and Harland Moore, a grandson Andrew Moore and a nephew Glen Moore in infancy.
Friends called at the Judson Funeral Home, Athens, where on September 16 the Legion Branch 96 held a memorial service. The funeral was September 17 in the Judson Chapel, with Rev. Roy Nixon officiating. Burial followed in the family plot in Glen Elbe Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Fred Fouzie, Jeffrey Woolley, Mike McKay, Ivan Pike, Jason Moore and Scott Selleck.
Memorial donations were directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Hartley Allison, 80
WILLIAMSBURG -- Hartley Allison, 80, died at his home in the Hills Trailer Park, Morrisburg, on September 7, 2003, following a brief illness.
He was born July 28, 1923 in Winchester Springs, the son of Fred Allison and the former Mabel Shaver. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Nova Scotia from 1941 to 1945 during the Second World War.
He married Doris McKenzie and worked for many years with the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority. After retiring 15 years ago, he moved to the trailer park.
He was a charter member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 538 at Boucks Hill and belonged for more than 50 years. He was also a former member of the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge No. 480 and identified with Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Riverside Heights.
In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, playing bingo, gardening and woodworking.
He is survived by his second wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Stewart, whom he married this year, his son Michael and wife Beverley of Sayward, B.C., and his daughter Anne Fournier and partner Lee Crozier of RR 3, Prescott.
Also surviving are his brother Ritchie Allison and wife Helen of Brockville and his wife's children, Gordon, Sharon and Robert Stewart.
He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Doris, and his sister, Luella Smith.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Williamsburg, where on September 10 the funeral was held, with Rev. Bill Byers and Rev. Pat Martin officiating. Cremation was arranged and burial was at St. Lawrence Valley Union Cemetery, at Long Sault.
Memorial donations were directed to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
Herbert McMann, 81
Herbert Arthur McMann, 81, died of heart failure September 9, 2003 at Brockville General Hospital. He had been in failing health for the last several years. He had been living at Sherwood Park Manor for the past two and a half years.
He was born in Cobourg on January 20, 1922, the son of William Arthur McMann and the former Pearl Isla Oliver, both of whom predeceased him.
He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and trained in several locations in Canada. He became a flight engineer but the war ended before he was sent overseas.
On September 30, 1944, he married Amby Rose Miller in Cobourg. Over the years they lived in Cobourg, Picton and Vankleek Hill before coming to Brockville in 1965.
Mr. McMann worked for Ontario Hydro for many years, first as a lineman and later as area supervisor. He retired in January 1982.
A member of Wall Street United Church in Brockville, he also belonged to Sussex Masonic Lodge, the Shriners and the Lions Club of Brockville. He also volunteered with the Volunteer Bureau of Brockville and drove patients to medical appointments in Kingston and Montreal. He and his wife delivered meals on wheels as well.
His hobbies included woodworking, bowling, curling, square dancing and shuffleboard.
He is survived by his wife Amby McMann of Brockville, son Gary Arthur McMann of Belleville and three daughters, Joan Sharon McMann of Surrey, B.C., Deborah Ann McDonald of Newmarket and Janice Arlene VandenTillaart of Greely, as well as nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his sisters Lois Knight of Kitchener and Helen Ruddick of Cobourg and hundreds of nieces/nephews and great-nieces/nephews, most of them on his wife's side of the family.
Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home, Brockville, where on September 11 the Masons held a memorial service. The funeral took place September 12 in Wall Street United Church, with Rev. Dr. Alan Bennett officiating, assisted by Rev. Doug Warren. Scripture readings were given by Howard Warren and Garry Mielke and Doug Warren played a piano tribute. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, Grafton, Ont.
The pallbearers were Stephen Parkes, Darren McMann, Kyle McMann, Ian McDonald, James VandenTillaart and Jim VandenTillaart. Honorary pallbearers were Don Hobson, Ernie Shaffer, Howard Warren and Bert Brownell.
Memorial donations were directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
