Beatrice Elsie (Betty), 72, of Toronto, formerly of Louisbourg, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000.
Born in Boston, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Norman and Gladys (Tutty) McInnis.
Surviving are son, George, Sydney; daughter, Patricia, Dartmouth; stepbrothers, Keith, Robert; stepsisters, Marg, Mary.
She was predeceased by son, Bruce, brothers, Colin, Hector.
The body has been cremated.
Arrangements for burial in Louisbourg will be made at a later date.

Peacefully at home on Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, Elizabeth Frances Hutchinson, beloved wife of Gordon Hutchinson in her 76th year.
Loving mother of Tom and his wife Regine, St. Albert, Alta., Betty Nickerson, Barrie, Ont., Ann Higgins and her husband Cal, Dan and his wife Geraldine and Tim and his companion Linda, all of London.
Predeceased by three brothers.
Also survived by 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo St. at King Street, London, Friday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. Cremation with interment in Holy Family Mausoleum, St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Bessie Matheson, 85, of Pickering, Ont., passed away Thursday, March 2, 2000.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Rannie and Mary Ann (Ferguson) Matheson.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence (Webbie) Matheson; brothers, John, Alex, Norman and her sister, Florence Patten.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Roger) Guimond, Ontario; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; also, brothers, Donald, Sydney, Neil, Boston, sister, Annie (Angus) Morrison.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service in Sydney at a later date.

With deep sadness the family of Anne Pleva announce her passing at Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Catharines, Ont., surrounded by her family, Saturday, March 4, 2000.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband Walter, (1992) (of 54 Years). A beautiful and joyous woman, she has forever touched the lives and hearts of her family; a loving mother to her children Sandra Chodarcewicz and Ted Pleva and wife Joyce, a precious Babci to her grandchildren Anastasia, Jonathon, Tracy (Jeff), Elizabeth (Mark), Katie (Matt) and Jamie, and a proud great-grandmother to Lily and Jason. She is survived by one sister Jenny and one brother Casimir and predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
We are forever grateful for her total love and devotion to our family. We will always miss but fondly remember her laughter and her wonderful home cooking she shared with family and friends. Anne was the former owner, operator of Pleva’s Groceries and Allure Hairstyling on Pelham Rd., St. Catharines. She was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of SPK. The family wishes to thank the Palliative Care Staff of Hotel Dieu Hospital for their wonderful care of our mother.
Anne is at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court St. (at King), St. Catharines until Wednesday morning Mar. 8, at 9:30 a.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 10 a.m. The Rite of Committal will take place in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil prayers in the funeral home Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Visiting hours Monday 7-9 and Tuesday 2-4, 7-9 p.m.
Bernard V. Henry

Bernard V. Henry, 75, Petawawa, Ont., died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in the Bonnecherre Manor, Renfrew, Ont.
Born in New Waterford, N.S., he was the son of Charles and Mary (Fortune) Henry.
He was an avid fiddle player and loved Scotch music.
He worked in No. 16 Colliery, New Waterford, for several years, then had a long service career with the Royal Canadian Army and was a member of the Petawawa Branch of the Royal Canadian legion.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary (Crowe), daughters, Patricia (Paul) Cleator and Karen (Frank (Osterold); sons, Bernie (Elaine), Michael (Jane), Fabian (June) and Paul, and five grandchildren. He is also survived by brother, Donnie Henry, New Waterford, sisters, Frances (Dave) Gillis, Amherst, N.S. and Josephine (Bernard) Snyder, Toronto, Ont.
He was predeceased by a son, Daniel and by a sister, Catherine Fraser and brothers, Fabian, Charles (Bunker), Raymond, Thomas and Edward.
A private family service took place at Neville’s Funeral Chapel in Pembroke, Ont., Thursday, March 2, followed by cremation.
Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Research Foundation.
Helen Adele (Duchek) Wise

The death occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, of Helen Adele Wise in the Civic Hospital, Ottawa, Ont.
Born in Montreal, Que., she was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Jessie Duchek.
She attended Whitney School and Sydney Academy. After graduation from the Academy she entered the Montreal General Hospital where she received her nurses’ training and began her nursing career in Montreal. In 1938 she returned to Sydney where she did private duty nursing and worked with the VON.
She is survived by one daughter, Penny Henderson (PhD), Ottawa, husband, John (PhD) and one son, Michael (P.Eng., F.C.S.I), Calgary, Alta., his wife Carmen, as well as four grandchildren, Elizabeth Henderson (PhD) (husband Steve), Brian Henderson, Elizabeth Wise (Edgar) and David Wise. She is also survived by a sister, Irma Duchek, Sydney, N.S.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother Francis, sister, Edna as well as a daughter, Catherine who died in infancy.
The funeral was held in Ottawa Feb. 28 from the Halse, Playfair and McGarry Funeral Home with Rev. Grant Dillenbeck officiating. Cremation followed.
Mary (Carter) Hillock

Mary (Carter) Hillock of Peterborough, Ont., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in Peterborough Regional Health Center with her loving and caring family and hospital staff with such wonderful and professional care.
Born in Donkin, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Mary Carter.
The funeral mass took place Saturday, Feb. 26 at St. Anne’s Church, Peterborough, by Fr. Asisclo Podelino. The funeral was under the direction of Concorde Funeral Home. Interment in Lakefield Cemetery, Lakefield, Ont.
Mary was a kind, caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend. Eternal rest grant onto her.
