COWELL, Johnny of Ridgetown

COWELL, Johnny – A lifelong resident of Ridgetown, Johnny Cowell passed away peacefully at the Village on the Ridge, Ridgetown on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the age of 82. Johnny was the son of the late Percy and Helen (Smedley) Cowell. Beloved husband of 58 years to the late Eileen (nee McPhail) (2010). Loving father of Dianna Cowell of Windsor, Dave Cowell and his wife Cathy of Ridgetown and Jim Cowell of Ridgetown. Proud grandfather of three grandsons, Bryan and his wife Cindy of Highgate, Brent and his wife Tabitha of Chatham and Jason and his wife Elishia of Strathroy. Great-grandfather of Avery, Brooke and Lucas Cowell. Johnny had worked at CSX Railroad for over 30 years. He was also a retired Deputy Chief of the Ridgetown Fire Department. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 243 in Ridgetown and an avid golfer with a membership with the Ridgetown Golf Club. Johnny ran “Johnny’s Variety” with his wife Eileen for 13 years. A Private Family Service will be held for Johnny, with an interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown. Tu, Chang-Chu “Maria” Ph.D

passed away July 14, 2013 at Hotel-Dieu Hospital, at 72 years of age. Beloved wife to Jui-Chang “Mike” for 49 years. Loving mother to Willard (Bren) and Thomas (Eileen). Cherished grandmother of Ashley, Zander and Neelie. She has brothers and many relatives in Taiwan and North America. She worked as a researcher in Biochemistry in various research institutions. In later years she owned and operated a business, Creat-A-Space. Maria retired in 1994. Since then, she and her husband spent time together travelling, gardening and ballroom dancing. Beloved husband of Edith (Harbert) Anderson for 66 years. Loving Father of Tom Anderson, Trevor Anderson and his wife Lois, Terry McKeracher and her husband Doug and Tracy Silk and her partner Scott May. Cherished Grandpa of David, Ryan, Brett, Bryce, Stephanie, Kimberly, Courtney, Brennan, Jaime, and Jessica and Great-Grandpa of Chloe, Brock, Violet, Archie, Essery, and James. Dear Brother-in-law of Sid Harbert. Predeceased by his Grandson Michael. The family would like to thank the staff on Marion Villa 2 for their care and compassion. GEBBIE, Monica Elinor Anne (nee Davies) of St. Thomas passed away peacefully on July 13, 2013 at the age of 78. Predeceased by her husband Robert Sidney Gebbie. Beloved mother of Janet (Hank) Neef; grandmother of Jennifer Scott and Liane Scott; great-grandmother of Micaela and Avery all of St. Thomas. Dearly missed by sisters Thelma Catt (the late Nelson) of Aylmer, Beverley (Ray) Eden of Seaforth and sisters-in-law Carole (Bob) Garnett of St. Thomas, Joan (George) Sorenson of Ilderton. Fondly remembered by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her daughter Lisa Gebbie (1975); and her brothers Doug Davies and Cyril Davies. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). A private graveside service will be held at Victoria Harbour Union Cemetery. JAQUES, Allan Richard of Sarnia

Allan Richard Harry Jaques of Sarnia, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Bluewater Health Sarnia at the age of 66 years. Survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Carol Ann Jaques, loved and respected by his son Shain (fiancé Lisa) Jaques and daughter Melissa Jaques. Lovingly remembered as Papa by Chantel, her children Alonzo, McKenzye and Trenton and Amanda (fiancé Tyler) and their son Liam. Survived by special aunt and uncle Donna and Gerry Nettleton. Predeceased by his parents Ray and Jean Jaques, sister Mona Campbell, brother Ivan Jaques, mother-in-law and father-in-law Catherine and Jerry Lassaline and sister-in-law Dolores Jaques. Survived by brothers-in-law Ken Campbell, Russell Jaques, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wayne and Karen Lassaline. Also remember by nieces and nephews Norma (Wayne), Nancy, Ken (Barbara), Lisa (Todd), Sandra, Paul (Cheryl), Jeffrey (Lina), Michael (Connie) Richard, Brian (Melanie), Angela (Rob) and Monica (David). Allan will be sorely missed by his canine companions Star and Bonzer. Allan was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Alexandra 158, Lambton and London Shrine Clubs, Hiawatha Chapter, York Right and St. Simon Cyrene. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held in celebration of Allan’s life at Smith Funeral Home, on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., with an hour of visitation prior to the service. GALIPEAU, Lionel of Afton Park Place, Sarnia

Peacefully on his 85th birthday and with dignity, Lionel Galipeau “Business Man Extraordinaire” entered the gates of heaven. Profoundly mourned by Dorothy, his wife, his only sweetheart and best friend for 64 years. Adored by his children Loree Font (Ron), Linn Southard (Bill), Luann Krywionek (Ed), Greg Galipeau (Ginny), Lisa Brown (Tim). Papa was an inspiration to his 12 grandchildren and their spouses, Amy, Erin, Jordan, Andrew, Josh, Kara, Chris, Heather, Cam, Ian, Nolan and Jake. He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Willms. Lionel’s love of his family and friends was infectious and spanned from Florida to Parry Sound. Those who knew him loved and respected him. He was a kind, loving man who addressed his responsibilities with passion and commitment towards his family, friends and clients. Dad toiled hard and enjoyed life to the fullest. His home was his castle and he consistently did things “properly.” You will always live on in our hearts and memories. We love you more than words could say. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home 1576 London Line Sarnia on Sunday July 14, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Lionel’s life will be held at Smith Funeral Home, on Monday July 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.

Whyte, Carman Garfield of Priceville, ON – resting at Fawcett Funeral Home, Flesherton

After a lengthy illness and a strong fight, Carman, of Priceville, passed into God’s care on October 19, 2013. Carman was born in Toronto on July 12, 1932. The youngest of seven children. He was raised on his family farm on the Old Durham Road. During the war his family moved into Priceville. When he completed his schooling he moved to Oshawa where he worked and raised his family. After 33years with the Durham Regional Police Dept, he retired with the rank of inspector. He moved back to Priceville and in the retirement years that followed he worked tirelessly for the village and his community. Volunteering on committees for the Canada Day celebration, the Santa Claus parade, the spring cleanup and the Remembrance Day service along with many others. He has been recognized for his community service with over 23 awards that he received from service clubs, professional and government organizations. The latest recognition was the Ontario Senior Achievement Award that was presented to him by the Lt Governor of Ontario. He was an active member of the Legion. He was a member at St Andrew’s Church. He had a great love of music, his workshop, many cherished friends and his family. Loving father of Lorne of Penetanguishene, Sandra (Rick) Herity of Edmonton and Neil (Janet) of Ottawa. Loved and remembered by grandchildren Mathew of Vancouver, Jennifer of England, Darci (Darren) Lang of Regina, Ryan (Jill) Herity of Saskatoon, Amy Warren of Edmonton, Christina of Victoria, Kayla of Waterloo and Rebecca of Ottawa. Cherished by great grandchildren Jayda, John Lang, Willow, Kyan, Zen Herity and Jack Warren. Dear brother to Ruth Rowlands of Orillia and Reta McConkey of Owen Sound, uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents James Garfield and Dora Catherine Whyte, brothers Wesley, Lloyd, Donald and sister Marjorie Fleming. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and the health care staff at the Markdale Regional Hospital for all their care and support. The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Funeral Home, Flesherton on Wednesday, October 23 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Service from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Kincardine Street, Priceville ON, on Thursday at 11am. Interment McNeil Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Covenant House Toronto or the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 333, would be gratefully appreciated.
