COWELL, Johnny – A lifelong resident of Ridgetown, Johnny Cowell passed away peacefully at the Village on the Ridge, Ridgetown on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the age of 82. Johnny was the son of the late Percy and Helen (Smedley) Cowell. Beloved husband of 58 years to the late Eileen (nee McPhail) (2010). Loving father of Dianna Cowell of Windsor, Dave Cowell and his wife Cathy of Ridgetown and Jim Cowell of Ridgetown. Proud grandfather of three grandsons, Bryan and his wife Cindy of Highgate, Brent and his wife Tabitha of Chatham and Jason and his wife Elishia of Strathroy. Great-grandfather of Avery, Brooke and Lucas Cowell. Johnny had worked at CSX Railroad for over 30 years. He was also a retired Deputy Chief of the Ridgetown Fire Department. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 243 in Ridgetown and an avid golfer with a membership with the Ridgetown Golf Club. Johnny ran “Johnny’s Variety” with his wife Eileen for 13 years. A Private Family Service will be held for Johnny, with an interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown. In later years she owned and operated a business, Creat-A-Space. Maria retired in 1994. Since then, she and her husband spent time together travelling, gardening and ballroom dancing. Peacefully on his 85th birthday and with dignity, Lionel Galipeau “Business Man Extraordinaire” entered the gates of heaven. Profoundly mourned by Dorothy, his wife, his only sweetheart and best friend for 64 years. Adored by his children Loree Font (Ron), Linn Southard (Bill), Luann Krywionek (Ed), Greg Galipeau (Ginny), Lisa Brown (Tim). Papa was an inspiration to his 12 grandchildren and their spouses, Amy, Erin, Jordan, Andrew, Josh, Kara, Chris, Heather, Cam, Ian, Nolan and Jake. He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Willms. Lionel’s love of his family and friends was infectious and spanned from Florida to Parry Sound. Those who knew him loved and respected him. He was a kind, loving man who addressed his responsibilities with passion and commitment towards his family, friends and clients. Dad toiled hard and enjoyed life to the fullest. Whyte, Carman Garfield of Priceville, ON – resting at Fawcett Funeral Home, Flesherton
After a lengthy illness and a strong fight, Carman, of Priceville, passed into God’s care on October 19, 2013. Carman was born in Toronto on July 12, 1932. The youngest of seven children. He was raised on his family farm on the Old Durham Road. During the war his family moved into Priceville. When he completed his schooling he moved to Oshawa where he worked and raised his family. After 33years with the Durham Regional Police Dept, he retired with the rank of inspector. He moved back to Priceville and in the retirement years that followed he worked tirelessly for the village and his community. Volunteering on committees for the Canada Day celebration, the Santa Claus parade, the spring cleanup and the Remembrance Day service along with many others. He has been recognized for his community service with over 23 awards that he received from service clubs, professional and government organizations. The latest recognition was the Ontario Senior Achievement Award that was presented to him by the Lt Governor of Ontario. He was an active member of the Legion. He was a member at St Andrew’s Church. He had a great love of music, his workshop, many cherished friends and his family. Loving father of Lorne of Penetanguishene, Sandra (Rick) Herity of Edmonton and Neil (Janet) of Ottawa. Loved and remembered by grandchildren Mathew of Vancouver, Jennifer of England, Darci (Darren) Lang of Regina, Ryan (Jill) Herity of Saskatoon, Amy Warren of Edmonton, Christina of Victoria, Kayla of Waterloo and Rebecca of Ottawa.
