BEECROFT, William George of St. Thomas, Ont.

BEECROFT – William George “Bill” of St. Thomas, Ont. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Edna Beecroft (nee LaFrance). Bill is survived by children John (Beth) Beecroft of St. Thomas and their children Matthew, Trent and Nicholas; Susan Beecroft of London and her children Stephanie, and Mandie (Dave); Teressa MacDonald of St. Thomas and her children Anthony (Jenn), and Ashley (Greg); Valorie Beecroft-Kechego (Robert) of B.C. and her children Chantel, Corey-Brandon, Courtney, Cassie, Emily, and Julia; Yvonne McKillop of St. Thomas and her children Danny, Dana, and Duncan; eight great grandchildren; siblings Eileen Player, Harold (June) Beecroft, Betty (Dave) Robbins, Alex (Marg) Beecroft, Wayne (Cathy) Beecroft, Evelyn (Brian) Forsyth all of St. Thomas; and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William and Anna-Belle Beecroft; his brother Lloyd Beecroft; and his first wife Hilda Yvonne Beecroft (nee Robbins). Bill farmed and worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years in Elgin County and in his spare time enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical. He was a member of the St. Thomas Pentecostal Assembly. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00pm and Sunday, January 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Thomas Pentecostal Assembly 144 Wellington Street, St. Thomas on Monday, January 27 at 1:30pm. Spring Interment in Cowal-McBride Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Lung Association, or Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

GRONIGER, Leigh Dorothy of Rodney, Ontario

Suddenly, at Four Counties Health Services, Newbury on Tuesday, January 21, 2014. Leigh Dorothy Groniger (Goodwin) of Rodney at the age of 46. Loving wife and mother of Joe and Lyle, daughter of Pam and Charlie Goodwin of Vancouver, B.C., daughter in law of Martha Groniger (Herman 2012) of West Lorne, sister in law of Henry (Cindy) and Ed Groniger and aunt of Leaha Groniger.
Friends may call at the RODNEY CHAPEL OF DENNING FUNERAL DIRECTORS on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm.

STEWART, James “Jim” Spencer D.P.M. of Sudbury, ON

It is with great sorrow that the family announces his passing in Sudbury on Tuesday, January 14th, 2014 at the age of 72 years. Beloved husband Vicki Lynn (née Foerter) Stewart of Sudbury. Son of the late Spencer J. and of the late Elinor (née Wellings) Stewart. Cherished father of Mark and Mary both of Sudbury. Loving brother of Karen Culp (David) of Ohio. Survived by his mother-in-law Joan Foerter of Sudbury, his brother-in-law Karl Foerter (Nicole) of Hanmer and by his sisters-in-law Mary Bertoia (Joe) of Toronto and Karen Foerter of B.C. Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews, Janice, Megan, Ann, Kevin and Mike. Jim was a devoted family man to his wife and children. During his spare time, he enjoyed hunting trips to Barrie Island and fishing at Lady Evelyn Lake. He was very dedicated to his patients and his practice where he worked until the very end. Jim was a founding member of Beefsteak and Burgundy Wine Club. At Jim’s request, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations (by cheque only) to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Pheasants forever or the S.P.C.A would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, Sudbury.

FRIZZELL, Brian of Sudbury, ON

It is with great sadness that the family announces Brian’s passing on Friday, January 3rd, 2014 at the age of 58 years at the Maison Vale Hospice in Sudbury. Son of the late Albert Elden and of the late Margaret (née Lochead) Frizzell. Dear brother of Linda Frizzell and Tanya Yilla both of Victoria, B.C., Sherry Frizzell (Lynn) of Sudbury and Susan Beaulieu (Mark) of North Bay. Warm hearted uncle of Jerid, Sydney, Savana and Tsehai. Brian was a longtime resident and employee with the City of Greater Sudbury; he took great pride in his position of “Hydrant Man”. He felt very fortunate having his co-workers/friends’ support and comfort him during the past year, especially during his brief stay at the hospice. Sadly missed by his best buddy Keith, his many special friends in Garson as well as everyone at the Centerville Apartments. Brian was a huge sports fan and longtime supporter of the Sudbury Wolves. Thank you to the players who paid Brian a surprise visit at the hospice. The family would like to express their gratitude to Chantal, Lyle, Christina, Katie, Jackie and all the wonderful staff at the Maison Vale Hospice for the loving care and attention shown towards Brian during his brief but unforgettable stay. Brian was a very special brother, uncle and friend to many…the world is a better place because of his great sense of humour and his big heart. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, Sudbury. Donations (by cheque only) to Maison Vale Hospice are appreciated.

SCHWARTZ, Brigitta “Brigit” of London.

Peacefully at L.H.S.C. University Hospital on Saturday, January 11, 2014, Brigitta “Brigit” Schwartz in her 68th year. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Ruth Schmegner. Loving mother of Kristina Bentley (Kilbourn) and her husband David; Michael Schwartz and his wife Mary. Loving grandmother of Joshua, Ashley and Zackary Kilbourn, Emma and Cole Schwartz. She will be missed by her extended family, especially her aunt Kristine and her uncle Guenther in Munich, Germany. A special thank you to nurse Bernie and the caring 4th floor staff at Mount Hope. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London on Saturday, February 8th at 11am. Those attending the inurnment are asked to please meet at the cemetery office at 10:45am. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society.

KIPP, Mrs. Florence (nee Smith), of Port Stanley, formerly of St. Thomas

KIPP, Mrs. Florence (nee Smith), of Extendicare, Port Stanley and formerly of St. Thomas, passed away at her residence on Monday, January 13, 2014, in her 91st year. Wife of H. Earle Kipp. Mother of Kim Kipp and his wife Terry of Huntsville, and Kevin Kipp and his wife Janet Medlyn of R.R.#1, Sparta. Grandmother of Zack Kipp and his wife Cheryl of Bracebridge, Holly Dupuis and her husband Dan of Thamesford, Dr. Luke Kipp of Vancouver, BC, and Mitch Kipp of St. Thomas. Sister of the late Catherine Williams. Also survived by a niece and two nephews. Born in St. Thomas, ON, April 28, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edward LeeRoy and Margaret (nee Nicoll) Smith. Florence formerly taught business courses at Alma College for almost 20 years. She held an A.T.C.M. from the Toronto Conservatory of Music and taught piano and theory from her home for many years. Florence was a former organist at Union United Church, and Edward Street Baptist Church and Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas. Relatives and friends will be received by the family on Monday, January 20th from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) where the funeral and committal service will be held on Tuesday, January 21st at 1:30 p.m. Private interment in Union Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or St. Andrew’s United Church Memorial Fund gratefully acknowledged.

May, Donald G. – Veteran of WWII, passed away peacefully at Grey Gables, Markdale, on Sunday January 12, 2014. Donald Grant May of Markdale in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn May (nee Wade). Dear father of Lynda Appleyard and her husband Frank of Courtenay, B.C., Grant May and his wife Brigitte of Markdale and Mary Bowler and her husband Bill of Sauble Beach. Loving grandpa of Christine Graham (Troy) of Calgary, Alberta, Belinda Bowler (Brian Tannahill) of Owen Sound, Alisa Bowler-MacDonald (Craig) of Port Elgin, Jason May (Raelene Bateman) of Calgary, Alberta and Sylvia Guy (Dan) of Stoney Creek. Great-grandpa of Taija & Seth Graham, Solay & Foster Tannahill, Joshua May and Mason & Evan Guy. Sadly missed by brother Harold May (Doris) of Stratford, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Predeceased by daughter Beth Love, sister Marie Cochrane and brother Ken May. The family will receive friends at the May Funeral Home, Markdale on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., where a funeral service will be held Friday, January 17th at 1:30 p.m.

GALLUPE: Marion (nee Thurlow)

Born in York, England, Marion died peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the General and Marine Hospital, Collingwood in her 89th year. Marion was the beloved wife of the late Reverend Ronald Gallupe. During WW II, Marion met and married Ron in York, England, in 1945 and moved to Canada the following year. Marion and Ron moved many times during his time in the RCAF and eventually settled in Creemore where Marion lived for nearly 40 years. Marion lived a very full life devoting much of her time in service to her community and was loved by all those she came in contact with. She was proud to be a 35 year volunteer at the Creedan Valley Nursing Home and also volunteered with many other organizations in the area. Marion was the much loved mother of Chris (Heather) of Creemore, Jan (Jim Rose) of Prince George, Brent (Lynn) of Kingston, Allan (Deirdre Gotto) of Victoria, Mark (Connie) of Belleville, Meredith (Dale Paton) of Ottawa and Scott (Sue) of Owen Sound. Cherished grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Dearly loved by her nephews Mervyn and Brian and their families in England. Predeceased by grandson Jacob, husband Ron, and sister Win. There will be no service at this time. A Celebration of Marion’s Life will be held in early summer when all the family can get together, with Interment beside Ron at Creemore Union Cemetery at that time. If desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by Marion’s family. Arrangements under the direction of the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel.
