McNeal, Leona Clare of Thessalon, Ontario

Peacefully, with her family by her side at the Thessalon Hospital on Monday January 6, 2014. Leona McNeal in her 79th year, wife of the late George “Ace” McNeal for 49 years. Loving mother of Theresa McGinnis (Doyle) of Desbarats, George McNeal Jr. (Tammy) of Thessalon, Allison Wardell (Dennis) of Nestorville. Special Grandma to Doyle Jr. McGinnis (Jamie), Kyle McGinnis, Melinda Chapman (Aaron), Taylor McNeal, Ronald, James and Denise Wardell and the late Tyler McNeal and Great grandmother of Bristol Chapman. Daughter of the late Bill and Ida Desmond. Dear sister of Gerald Desmond of Sault Ste. Marie and predeceased by 5 brothers and sisters. Also survived by sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Leona worked as a healthcare aid at the Algoma Manor for 27 years. She loved her family, particularly her grandchildren. She has now gone to be with the love of her life, her husband Ace. Friends may call at the Beggs Funeral Home, Thessalon on Thursday January 9, 2014 from 7 to 9pm. Funeral service at St Ambrose Catholic Church, Thessalon on Friday January 10, 2014 at 10 o’clock. Spring interment in Pine Grove Cemetery. Donations to the Algoma Manor Charitable Foundation or the Blind River District Health Centre – Thessalon Site gratefully accepted.

KATSUMI, George (Retired Supply System Logistical Officer, DND)

Passed unexpectedly at his residence on Monday, January 6, 2014 in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Kotoyo Katsumi. Loved father of Theresa Maya Belyea (Edmonton). Dear brother of of Kayoko, Miyeko, Atsuko, Akiko and predeceased by his brothers Shoji & Kinichi & sister Sayoko. Fondly remembered by his nieces & nephews and their extended families. The family will receive friends at the PAUL G. PAYNE FUNERAL HOME, Main St., Odessa on Monday, January 20th from 10 – 11am after which the funeral service will be held in the funeral home with Rev. S. Ambury officiating. Interment Wilton Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy the family would appreciate donations to the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre, 8749 County Rd. 2, Napanee, On K7R 3L1.

A resident of London, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at University Hospital, at the age of 53. Beloved partner of 31 years to Jack Klopper. Predeceased by his mother Helen Crighton (née Martin) and survived by his father, Jim Crighton. Wonderful brother and brother-in-law to Clifford and Gertie Crighton, Randy and Lyla Crighton and Marty and Sheila Crighton. Much-loved uncle of Jason and Arielle Crighton (Vancouver), Lee Crighton (Vancouver) and Jordan Crighton (Sudbury). Gord blessed family and friends with his unique sense of humour, his willingness to always lend a hand and his giving heart. Special thanks to the 8th floor doctors, nurses and staff of University Hospital: your compassion, professionalism and dedication are second-to-none and appreciated by all. Gord’s wishes were to be cremated followed by a Celebration of Life which will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Gordon to the Humane Society, the Arthritis Society, Animalert or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.

The family announces with great sorrow her passing in Sudbury on Thursday, December 26th, 2013 at the age of 81 years. Wife of the late Raoul Mathieu. Daughter of the late Napoléon and of the late Laura (née Beaulieu) Séguin. Beloved mother of Lorraine Mathieu-Bourré of Oshawa, Roland Mathieu (Paulette) of Alban, Jean-Guy Mathieu (Lucie) of Noëlville, Gérald “Gerry” Mathieu (Mona) of Trout Lake and Denis Mathieu (Deborah) of Elliot Lake. Dear sister of Armand Seguin (late Françoise), Rollande Saulnier (late Tony), Jeanne Pedneault (Frank), Rhéa Sauvé (late Maurice) all of Sudbury, Léopold Séguin (Ghislaine) of Whitefish and Gérard Séguin (Opal) of British Columbia. Predeceased by her sister Thérèse Barker (Durrel of British Columbia) and by her brother Ovila Séguin (Thérèse of Sudbury) and by her grandchildren Paula Bourré and Roland Jr. Mathieu. Sadly missed by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury on Saturday, January 4th, 2014 from 1-4 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Donations (by cheque only) to the St. Joseph’s Villa Foundation would be appreciated.

A great man lost his life on Thursday January 2, 2014 as the result of an unfortunate auto accident. Nick Cada at the age of 32, beloved partner of Michelle Martin for 15 years. Loving father of Nicholas Wilfred Cada (6) and Eleanor Irene Cada (4 months) of Peterborough. Beloved son of Randy and Marjorie Cada of Mississaugi First Nation. Dear brother of Dan (Debby) Morningstar, Denelda Cada (Junior Debassige), Dakota Cada. Special uncle to Alexander Debassige and Maverick Debassige. Predeceased by his niece Autumn Danielle Morningstar. Dear son-in-law of Roger Martin (Karen) and Debbie Martin and brother-in-law to Danielle (niece Alexa) and Roxanne Martin (nephew Carter). Nick will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by a large extended family of aunts and uncles and many friends. Nick will be remembered as an amazing father, son, brother, nephew and cousin. He was an avid outdoorsman with a love of fishing and hunting, particularly with his son. We will always remember him for his infectious laugh, smile and dimples. Friends may call at the Mississaugi First Nation Hall, 156 Village Road on Monday January 6, 2014 from 9am until time of service on Wednesday January 8, 2014 at 11 o`clock. A trust fund is being established in Nick`s memory for his wife and children. Donations to that trust gratefully accepted. Morin, Mr. Kenneth Douglas of Bruce Mines, Ontario

Peacefully, with his family by his side at the Sault Area Hospital on Thursday January 2, 2014. Ken Morin of Bruce Mines in his 74th year beloved husband of Carol Morin (Simbirski) for 51 years. Loving father of Martin Morin (Catherine) of Amaranth and Randall Morin (Mariola) of Bruce Mines. Special Grandpa to Rachel, Elizabeth, Sarah and Nicholas. Dear son of the late Rene “Bin” and Edna Morin. Dear brother of Sarah, Edith, Nancy, Mary, Lois, Robert and the late Allan. Dear brother-in-law of William, Robert, Walter and the late Edward Simbirski. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ken served the Province and his community through his many years with the OPP and Fire Services. At the request of the family cremation has taken place. Plans for a Celebration of Ken’s Life will be announced at a later date. Donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation gratefully accepted. Connell, Mr William Glenn of Bruce Mines, Ontario

Suddenly at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday December 30, 2013. Glenn Connell of Algoma Manor, formerly of Bruce Mines in his 84th year, beloved husband of Arlene Connell (nee MacMillan) for 52 years. Loving father of Bryan Connell of Bruce Mines, Cheryl Jerrard (Paul ) of Desmoines, Iowa and the late Michael Connell. Special Grandpa to Catherine and Meghan. Dear son of the late Alex and Margaret Connell. Dear brother of the late Cliff, Rita, Lila, Geraldine, Lorne and John. Dear brother-in-law of Jerry, Larry and Kenny McMillan. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Glenn was an active member of the community with involvement in the Lions Club, Royal Canadian Legion, Bruce Mines United Church, Bruce Mines Fire Department and the Sno Glyders snowmobile club. Glenn worked for the MNR for many years in Sault Ste. Marie, Blind River and Thessalon. Friends may call at the Beggs Funeral Home, Thessalon on Sunday January 5, 2014 from 2 to 5pm and on Monday January 6, 2014 from 10 am until time of service in the chapel at 11 o`clock. Spring interment in Cloudslee Cemetery. Donations to the Bruce Mines United Church or Blind River District Health Centre Foundation – Thessalon Site.

Tremblay, Pamela Jean (nee Peasron) of Sault Ste. Marie, formerly of Thessalon

Peacefully at Extendicare Mapleview, Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday December 29, 2013. Pamela Tremblay formerly of Thessalon in her 87th year, wife of the late Rene Tremblay. Loving mother of Carol Tucci (Joe) of Sault Ste. Marie, Dianne Wright (Del) of Windsor, Chris Tremblay (Rosa) of Markham, Robin Tremblay (Adele) of Calgary and Jennifer Tremblay-Hall (Mike) of Sault Ste. Marie. Special Grandma Pam to Tony (Michaela), Sarah, Lauren, Curtis, Shane, Ryan, Brock, Adam, Michelle, Chantal, Jessica, Isiah and Nash and Great Grandma to Madison, Jillian, Caydence and Brinley. Predeceased by her mother Mabel and Father Frank and her brother Anthony. Pam will also be sadly missed by the Tremblay family and many nieces and nephews. Pam was born in London England in 1927 and bravely came to Canada after the Second World War with her mother Mabel to start a new life. She will be remembered by many in the Thessalon area for the many years that she worked in Dr. Kovacs’ office. Friends may call at the Beggs Funeral Home, Thessalon on Saturday January 4, 2014 from 1pm until time of service in the chapel at 2 o’clock followed by cremation. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society gratefully accepted. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Extendicare Mapleview Tunnel Lake Community for their compassionate care of their mother.
