Our wonderful father was reunited with his precious wife on April 26, 2015 at Veteran’s Care Parkwood Hospital, London, ON, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his children, Carol (John Wylie), Ray (Pat), Lynn, Keith (Dawn). His grandchildren David (Teresa) and John (Carrie) were the benefactors of his love and wisdom. He will be fondly remembered by six great-grandchildren, Connor, Nathan, Breanna, Chloe, Morgan and Charlotte. Dad was born in Woodstock, Ontario on June 17, 1922 to parents Fred and Ethel Taplay. John joined the Elgin Regiment and fought overseas during World War 11, where he met and married Elizabeth (Betty) Hunter on September 29, 1945 in Clydebank, Scotland. Shortly afterwards they began their life together in Woodstock and had 68 wonderful years together. Dad and Mom were fortunate to retire in 1975 where they spent 25 winters in Florida making many lifelong friends. They loved to take cruises, having travelled coast to coast in Canada and the U.S. and returned to Britain to visit family. He was a founding member of Kendall Cab, worked many years in La France Textiles and later pursued a career in real estate in Niagara Falls. Our heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Borrie and the wonderful nurses and staff of 2 Perth at the Veteran’s Care, Parkwood Hospital.
