HRENYK, Arlene Agnes of Belleville

Hrenyk, Arlene Agnes –- died peacefully at QHC ~ Belleville General Hospital on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015, in her 75th year. Dear daughter of the late Hugh and Beatrice Martin. Beloved wife of Alvin Hrenyk. Dear mother of Teresa Hrenyk, (Ed Kafka) of Belleville; Jackie (Jacques) Lacasse, of Moose Jaw; and Al Hrenyk, of Belleville. Dear grandmother of Shaun Kafka, Anne (Kevin) Fink, Nicole Lacasse, Jordan, Kathryn, and Meaghan Hrenyk. Also loved by five great grandchildren. Dear sister of Lorna Martin (Ken), of Winnipeg, and Calvin (Judith) Martin, of Vancouver. Predeceased by one sister, Maureen Stork, and by two brothers, Brian and Craig Martin. Private Cremation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, Belleville, Ontario (613-968-2273).
Memorial Donations to the Quinte Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.

KAMSTRA, Renziena of BURLINGTON

Peacefully at Shalom Manor in Grimsby on Tuesday, June 23, 2015. The Lord took to Himself Renziena Kamstra of Burlington, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Matthew Kamstra (2000). Loving and caring mother of the late Aaffien “Angie” (2014) and Ron Couper of Burlington, Peter and Jo-Anne Kamstra, Janet and Willy Havenaar, all of Flamborough, Anita and Ben Poort of Burlington, Theodora Ng of Waterdown, the late Johnny (1968), Renee and Peter Van Dyk of Burlington, Herman and Sylvia Kamstra of Dunnville, and Michelle and Ralph Frebold of Hamilton. Loved grandmother of twenty-nine grandchildren, and twenty-seven great grandchildren. Predeceased by her grandson Daniel Poort, and granddaughter Lauren Havenaar. Dear sister in law of Annie and the late Klaas Aikema, Herman and the late Grace Kamstra, Weike and the late Dick Kamstra, and Teddy and John Hordyk, all of Burlington. She is predeceased by her brothers and sisters in The Netherlands: Annie and Menno Norden, Jan and Anna de Jonge, Jantje and Jacob Wieringa and Timmen and Sjouke de Jonge. She will also be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews in Canada and The Netherlands. Family will receive friends at EBENEZER CANADIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 607 Dynes Rd, Burlington on Thursday from 6-9 p.m., where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday June 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend G. Nederveen officiating. Interment, Greenwood Cemetery, Burlington. If desired expressions of sympathy to Anchor Association would be sincerely appreciated by the family.

Filion, George of Sarnia

At Bluewater Health on Friday, June 12, 2015, GEORGE LESLIE (LES) FILION, age 88 of Sarnia passed away. He was the loving husband of Della Marie Filion, dear father of Debbie Hayden (Blaine), Rick Filion (Beatrice), Larry Filion (Kelli), Linda Filion and Lori Mitchell (Pat), stepfather of David Crimmins (Ann) and Kathleen McGuigan (Jim). Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary (Kynchey) Filion (1973), his second wife the late Grace (Beauchamp) Filion (2009) and two brothers and a sister. Les was a Veteran with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He retired from Canadian National Railway after 34 years of service and was a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association. Funeral services will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, June 16th at 11:00 am. with family and friends being received one hour prior to service time. Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery. Charitable gifts to the charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.

TOLMAN, S. Lloyd of St. Thomas, Ont. formerly of Alberta

TOLMAN, Sherman Lloyd – Went to be with his Lord and Saviour from the Elgin Manor on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the age of 96. Born again September 1951. Loving husband of Doris (nee Hunter) for 71 years. Father of Jeff (Marilyn) Tolman, Nancy (Nelson) Butler, John (Nancy) Tolman and Elisabeth John, all of St. Thomas. Proud grandfather of Jennifer Tolman of Halifax, NS, Dan (Lana) Tolman of Charlottetown, PE, Ben (Kellie) Butler of Boxall, Lois Butler of Niagara Falls, Joe (Michelle) Butler of Fingal, Sarah (Brian) Holmes of St. Thomas, Christopher (Jaclyn) Tolman of Edmonton, AB, Stefanie (Brian) Cox of Halifax, NS, Andrew John of St. Thomas and Michael John of St. Thomas. Also missed by several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Born near Rumsey, AB, on October 19, 1918, Lloyd came to Ontario with the RCAF during the war, married Doris in 1944 and never left. He had his own construction company, worked as foreman with the CNR for 10 years and then in machine setup and repair for Hayes Dana for 20 years. “He could fix anything”. Friends will be received at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas, Ont. (519-631-0570) from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM, Monday, June 15, 2015. The funeral service will be held at the St. Thomas Gospel Hall, 1 Sunset Drive, St. Thomas at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 16. Interment in the Hunter Cemetery, Lake Road, Southwold. Memorial contributions to charity of choice, Gospel Trust Canada or St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital would be appreciated.

PEARSON, Sylvia Simone of Surrey Formerly of Prince Albert, SK
April, 10 1941 – June 7th, 2015.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Pearson. Sylvia was born on April 10th, 1941 in Batoche, SK to Jean and Helene Caron. She was the eight of nine children, pre-deceased by her parents, brothers Neil, Edward, Lucien, and Lloyd and her sisters, Edna and Gloria. Sylvia is also survived by her sisters, Kathleen and Margaret. Sylvia is also survived by her loving husband Larry, sons Darcy (Kathy) and Boyd (Monica). She is survived by grandchildren Devan and Grady, and several nieces and nephews.
Sylvia married the love of her life, Larry, in June of 1970, and raised her sons in Surrey. She was a hard-working woman and had many friendships she cultivated through the years. Sylvia loved to laugh, engage in family events and dinners, and was especially proud of her sons, their wives, and her two grandchildren. A celebration of Sylvia’s life will be held at Avalon Funeral Home, Surrey on Saturday, June 20th, at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Terry Fox Foundation.

DUKESHIRE, Diane of Belleville

Dukeshire, Diane – at Moira Place, Tweed on Thursday, May 21st, 2015 in her 76th year. Diane was born on May 8th, 1940 in Timmins, ON, the second child of the late Henry and Leila Welin. She has lived in Belleville with her husband Ken Dukeshire since 1970. Diane is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Brad) Rush of Oakville. She is the proud grandmother of Rachel Rush, currently studying at Queen’s in Kingston and Cooper Rush, currently studying at Sir Wilfred Laurier in Waterloo. Diane is also survived by her sister, Marlaine (Stanley) Burke of Kingston, NS and her brothers, Eric (Margaret) Welin, also of Kingston, NS and Brian Welin of Comox, BC. She is predeceased by her brother Dwight Welin.
The family will receive friends at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, (613-968-2273) on Friday, June 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.. The Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, June 20th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Belleville Cemetery. Rev. Jennifer Cameron officiating.
If desired, Memorial Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.

ROBERTSON, Georgina (Babs) Pearl of Point Edward

At Bluewater Health on Monday, June 8, 2015, GEORGINA (BABS) PEARL ROBERTSON, age 87 of Point Edward passed away. She was the loving wife of the late Harry James Robertson (1991) and dear mother of Gladys Gooch (Don) of Richmond, BC and Bill Robertson of Sarnia and mother in law of Bonnie Robertson of Walsingham, ON. She is survived by 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Babs was a long time resident of Point Edward and was involved in the Women’s Association of the Presbyterian Church. She was predeceased by her son Donald Robertson and 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Bab’s life will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre Sunday, June 14th at 2:00 pm. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 pm until service time. Private interment will be held later at Resurrection Cemetery. Charitable gifts to the Canatara Park Children’s Animal Farm (www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/kiwanis-childrens-farm-charitable-foundation/) would be appreciated by the family.

SABOURIN, Marcelle (née Daoust) of Sudbury, ON

The family announces with sorrow her passing on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, in Sudbury at the age of 91 years with family at her side. Predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Guy (passed away January 28, 2014). Predeceased by her parents Albert and Oliva (née Delorme) Daoust of Sturgeon Falls. Loving mother of Gisèle Sabourin (Ted) of Vancouver, Denis Sabourin (Diane) of Chelmsford, Diane Sabourin (Daniel) of Lloydminster, Sask., Marc Sabourin of Calgary and Yvan Sabourin of Terrace, B.C. Predeceased by her son Gaston (Melanie of Moose Jaw). Predeceased by her siblings Jeanne Taylor, Fernand, Lucille Pépin, Gilles, Sr. Armande, Gérard, Sr. Germaine, Lionel and Jean-Guy. Cherished sister of Georgette Roy of Nova Scotia and Thérèse Joanette of Sudbury. Marcelle is survived by 8 grand-children (Neesham, Kody, Pascal, Tristan, Trevor, Adrianna, Gaetanne and Paul) and 3 great grand-children. She was predeceased by 2 grand-sons Bohdan and Jacob. Marcelle and Guy build a home on Brookside Road in Chelmsford in early 1953 and a second home after the first one was destroyed by fire in 1957. As a young woman, she worked as a bookeeper for the Town of Sturgeon Fall, raised 6 children and went back to work when the children were grown up, then she worked for the Senator Hotel in Sudbury and Timmins for a few years and moved on to work for Mainville Lumber in Chelmsford till her retirement. She was always involved in different community organizations; Saint Vincent Paul, Ladies Auxiliary – Branch 553, Seniors Craft Shop and the Chelmsford Fish and Game. Throughout the years, she enjoyed her many hobbies including sewing, darts, knitting and quilting. She displayed her eye for colour with fabrics and wool. We will miss her greatly, the matriarch who cooked many wonderful meals for family and friends. The Family would like to thank the Personnel at Pioneer Manor whom provided exceptional care during her stay there. Family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, Chelmsford on Saturday, May 9, 2015, from 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will take place during the summer. Donations to the Arthritis Society can be made by cheque or online at www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca.
