ROFFEL, Robert G. “Rob”, of St. Thomas, Ontario

ROFFEL, Robert G. “Rob”, of St. Thomas, passed away at his residence on Thursday, May 14, 2015, in his 65th year. Loving husband for 43 years to Sharon (nee Fowler) Roffel. Amazing father to Dustin Roffel of St. Thomas. Brother of Ken Roffel (Eileen) of BC. Also fondly remembered by in-laws, Gail and Ron Robertson of Lambeth, Charlie and Pat Fowler of Komoka, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was the dear son-in-law of the late Bert and Kay Fowler. Rob was born in Chatham, ON, April 11, 1951. He was an electrician by trade for many years, having been an electrical consultant at EMCAD, London, and most recently was the President and owner of Free World Consulting & Design. Rob had a passion for music, playing guitar, and for his two dogs; Sunshine and Kage. A private funeral service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160), with a public celebration of Rob’s life to be held at a later date. Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations to the All Breed Canine Rescue or Kismutt Dog Rescue gratefully acknowledged.

MacKinnon; “Les” Donald of Durham formerly of Flesherton

Les passed away on Monday surrounded by his cherished partner Doris Fraser and his loving family. Forever loved by his son Brock (Kate) and daughter Amber (Damien). Much loved by his father John and predeceased by his mother Elma. Loving grandfather to Dale and Beverley. Dear brother to Keith and Alana (Scott) Hawthorn. He will be forever remembered by Sharon (Howard) MacIntosh and Deirdre and Iris Fraser. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephew and countless friends. Les had a great impact on his community, especially with his interest in history. His contribution has been recognized in many ways, most recently by awards from the Owen Sound Emancipation Festival organization and the Grey County Historical Society award of the Heritage Certificate of Recognition for 2015. He was an active member of his local historical society and was instrumental in getting the Pioneer Black Cemetery recognized.
He was an avid horseshoe player who hosted a weekly club and a large annual tournament at his home for many years.
After a career in construction he went back to school at the age of forty and received a Bachelor degree from Ryerson in Environmental Studies which led to a career as an Environmental Health Officer. He was a Member of the Drinking Water Source Protection Committee.
The family would like to thank Doctor Hildegarde Huff and the many nurses for their attentive care for Les in his final days.
Cremation has taken place. Respecting his wishes, a private family interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Funeral Home, Flesherton on Friday, May 29th from 7-9pm. A memorial celebration of his life will take place at the Stothart Hall, Priceville on May 30th from 4-11pm. Memories of Les will be shared at 7pm.
As expressions of sympathy donations would be welcomed to The Emancipation Festival of Owen Sound.

The family announces with great sorrow his passing in Sudbury on Monday, July 22nd, 2013 at the age of 58 years. Beloved husband of Colette (née Houle) Prieur of Sudbury. Son of the late Eugene “Gene” and the late Janet (née Carrey) Prieur. Loving father of Nicole Lebel (Luke) of Deep River, Brian Prieur of Oakville and Marie-Michelle Prieur of Sudbury. Dear brother of Brenda of Vancouver, B.C., Carmen of Kingston, Jackie (late Brent Thomas) of Orillia, Denis (Lynne) of Falconbridge and Don (Louise) of Langley, B.C. Cherished grandfather of Isaac Lebel. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury, on Tuesday, July 30th, 2013 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 31st, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St-Jean-de-Brébeuf Church, Sudbury. Masses or donations (by cheque only) to Paroisse St-Jean-de-Brébeuf, Paroisse St-Jean-de-Brébeuf Restoration Fund or to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.

SMITH, Mrs. Patricia (nee Brown), of St. Thomas

SMITH, Mrs. Patricia (nee Brown), of the Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, in her 76th year. Beloved wife of John Smith. Dearly loved mother of John Smith (Robin), and Brian Smith (Julie), all of St. Thomas, Tony Smith (Pennie) of Nanaimo, BC, and Jodi Taut (Don) of London. Cherished grandmother of Jaime Gelinas (Keith), Tyler Smith (Melanie), Kyle, Hilary, and Sophia Smith, and Spencer Taut, and great grandmother of Lukas and Isla Gelinas. Dear sister of Alan Brown (Ruthie) of London, and Ann Campbell (Wayne) of Ingersoll. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born in London, England, December 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eleanor (nee Shaw) Brown. Pat was a retired supervisor at Therm-O-Disc, St. Thomas. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Friday, August 23rd at 1:00 p.m. Relatives and friends will be received by the family from 12:00 p.m. until the service time. Private interment of her cremated remains will be made in McArthur Cemetery, R.R.#1, Southwold. Memorial donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society gratefully acknowledged.

BAILEY, Gary William of St. Thomas, Ont.

BAILEY, Gary William of St. Thomas passed away after a courageous battle, on Monday, August 19, 2013 at the age of 67. Beloved husband of Brenda for 50 years. Gary is survived by children Greg (Jaime) Bailey, Steve (Wendy) Bailey and Dan (Michele) Bailey; grandchildren Sarah Bailey, Jenifer Bailey, Josh Bailey, Emily Bailey, and Jessie (Mitch) Dejong; brothers Alfred (Betty) Bailey, and Wayne (Lynn) Bailey. Gary had a varied career working for Lloyd Pressey Fuel Oil, Clevite, Clark Equipment and Loveday's Towing. He eventually started his own Music Band and Entertainment Agency, becoming the first licensed Booking Agent in Canada, booking bands throughout Canada and the United States.
Gary’s love of music and talent for entertainment led to a prolific career in the industry. He sang with the Simcoe Barbershop Group, the Psych Hospital Choir, Knox Church Choir and ultimately he became a promoter for the Rudy Davis Band. The latter led him to Montreal, California, touring the west, with eventual recognition on Billboard Top Hits for their #2 single that is still played on many radio stations today.
Gary’s passion for music was rivaled only by his love for family. Coaching hockey for years, following Greg and Dan with their hockey careers, motorcycle racing with Steve, Dan, and later grandson Josh.
Somewhere in all of this, Gary had time to be an active member, and past President of the Port Stanley Optimists Club.
The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at Victoria Hospital Pallative Care, along with Dr. Patrick Luke, Dr. Patrick Colquhaun, and Dr. John Johnson from University Hospital for their kind care.
Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Friday, August 30, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm. The memorial service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church 55 Hincks Street, St. Thomas on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 11:00am. Interment in Union Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.

Peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday August 14 2013. Doana Evelyn [Campbell] Harvey of Dutton in her 82nd year. Wife of the late Robert William Wallace Harvey [1992]. Loving mother of Gary and wife Fran of London, Linda of Nanimo B.C., Todd of Edmonton Alberta, Judith and husband Richard of Dutton, Bobby of South Korea. Grandmother of Donna, Ian, Megan, Rebecca, Jesse, Jessica and 2 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Wes of Owen Sound, Marian of Toronto, Keith and wife Bonnie of Chatham. Cremation. At his home, on Thursday, August 8, 2013, of London in his 64th year. Dear brother of Greg and Kathy Hodgins of Grand Bend. Dear uncle of Susan (Tim) Patton and Jill (Mike) Bale. Missed by his 4 great-nephews. Predeceased by his niece Kristin Hodgins and his parents Ida and Clare Hodgins.

Suddenly, at Health Sciences North, Sudbury on Saturday November 2, 2013. Aurel Bruneau of Blind River in his 56th year, husband of Marlene Bruneau.
