BAKER, After a courageous battle, peacefully, at London Health Sciences Centre – University Hospital, surrounded by her children, on Friday, January 12, 2018, Janice Marlene (Hamilton) Baker of Grand Bend, formerly of Hensall, passed away 2 weeks before her 79th birthday. Beloved wife of the late John Baker (2009). Devoted and loving mother of Brad and Lori Baker, Bryan Baker and the late Sandra Melady (2016), Becky and Brian Mercer, all of Exeter. Very special grandma of Jenalyn and Matt Ignor, Marley Baker, Jonathon Baker, Jarrett Baker, Bryanne Baker, Carly Mercer and Reid Oliver, Cayley Mercer and Cullen Mercer. Proud great-grandma of Luxe and Laken Ignor. Dear sister-in-law of Gladys McGregor, Greta Baker, Irene Tyndall, Bill and Marg Baker, Betty Grenier, Bill Brown and Wanda Wilson. Fondly remembered by Sandra’s children Liam, Hope, Connor and Faith Melady, and her many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by parents Andrew and Gertrude (Francis) Hamilton. BROMAROFF, BRENDA – At Bluewater Health on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, Brenda Lee (Jolly) Bromaroff, age 60 of Sarnia passed away. She was the wife of the late Don Bromaroff (2015) and loving mother of Jody St. Pierre (Matthew), Diana (Franky) Bromaroff, Amy Bromaroff and Jimmy Bromaroff, dear grandmother of Shelby, Jayla, Preston, Sati and Arizona. She is also survived brother Raymond and Ronnie Jolly and sisters Mona Jolly Debbie Hayes. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Cremation has taken place and private family committal service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial donations made in memory of Brenda to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the D. J. Murray, Frances Beatty of Sarnia
Frances Beatty Murray passed away peacefully on Monday January 8, 2018 at Sumac Lodge in Sarnia at the age of 98. She was the dear wife of the late John David “Bunt “Murray, beloved mother of John “JD” Murray and of Ann Ino, husband Alan and loving grandmother of Chris Hartford, Melissa Hartford and Robert Ino. “Gee” as she was affectionately known, was a lifelong residence of Sarnia and was a committed volunteer in her community. She was an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and the woman’s organization I.O.D.E. Gee was loved for her sweet easy going disposition, and quick laugh. In addition, she was well regarded for her amazing cooking and baking skills. Over the years, family and friends alike enjoyed Gee’s homemade bread, homemade pies and memorable Sunday roast beef dinners. My brother and I would like to thank the staff at Sumac Lodge for their wonderful care of our mother over these last years. A memorial service will be held at D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia, ON, N7T 5W9 on February 8th, 2018 at 12:00 noon. A luncheon reception will follow. SKELTON, Cathy (Cookie) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Cathy, 74, at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, on January 2nd, 2018. Loving mother of Lisa Gallant & Chad (Ashley). Proud Nana to Haley, Brooke, Cameron, Lily and Maddie. Sister to Dorothy Henning, Harold Laycock and Lorna McCracken. Pre-deceased by parents Russ and Pearl Laycock, sister Betty Hayward and brothers Max, Martin, Bill and Ted.
Employed 38 years at GE/Black & Decker and 11 years at Johnson Controls. Recent employee of Casino Rama and devoted volunteer for Canadian Cancer Society and Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions.
She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, cooking and travelling near and far with family and closest girlfriends. Cathy also took great joy in participating in the lives of her grandchildren, whether it was trips to the zoo, taking them to lessons or work, she loved spending every minute she could with them. Cathy’s overwhelming, generous and devoted support to her family & friends will be greatly missed.
Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 7th from 1pm to 4pm at the Ivy Orange Hall, 5099 20th Sideroad of Essa Township. A private family interment will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations to the RVH and Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions would be greatly appreciated by the family.

PATRIQUIN, Mrs. Doris (née Larson), of St. Marys, ON, formerly of St. Thomas, passed away at her residence, Kingsway Lodge on Sunday, January 28, 2018, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of Keith D. Patriquin. Dearly loved mother of Correne Dubois (Michael) of St. Marys, Kenneth Johnson (Tracy) of Nanaimo, BC, Leslie Naritelli (Larry) of Carlsbad, CA, Karen Pashko (Phil) of Tarzana, CA, and Vicki Fox (Jim) of Orange, CA. Also fondly remembered by a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The last surviving member of her own immediate family, Doris was predeceased by three sisters, Effie Dunlop, Grace Olofson, and Joyce Kaplar, and by three brothers, Clifton, Donald, and Eldon Larson. Born in Kinistino, SK, December 9, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Delia (née Breimon) Larson. Doris came to St. Thomas from Kinistino, SK in the late 1950’s, and to St. Marys, ON four years ago. She was a member of the Evangelical Missionary Church, St. Thomas. The funeral and committal service will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Thursday, February 1st at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be made privately in Elmdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
HUTCHINSON, Susan Patricia
Susan Patricia Hutchinson, 62 (known by her family as ZaZa) of Vancouver, BC, passed away on January 4, 2018 in Vancouver.
Funeral service will be held at St. Phillip’s Anglican Church, 3737 West 27th Avenue (at Dunbar) on January 27th at 1:00 pm with Bishop Barbara Andrews officiating.
Susan was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on May 15, 1955.
She attended Trinity College in Toronto and was ordained as an Anglican Priest, touching many lives through her work serving the Church’s communities in Quebec and BC. She was a trailblazer for women’s issues and advocacy her entire life.
Susan held several executive positions within the Liberal Party of Canada and was very active on multiple election and leadership campaigns, locally and across the country.
She was a Fierce Feminist, Avid Bookworm, “Royals” Fan, Seamstress Extraordinaire (a key member of costuming for Vancouver Pride), and a Loyal Colleague and Friend! Always a ray of sunshine, with her wit and charm and storytelling, forever giving of her time, compassion and strength to others.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Lt. Col. W.E.J. (Bill) Hutchinson, Kathleen Mary Hutchinson (nee Hunter) and will be remembered by her Brother, William Hutchinson, Sister, Barbara Allyn Hutchinson, Nephews and Nieces Hayley McCoy, Joshua Hutchinson, Madison Trusolino, Kate Hutchinson and Declan Hutchinson.
