PEARCE, Helen (Betty) -

Passed away peacefully at Hillsdale Terraces on Friday June 11, 2010 at the age of 81.

Daughter of the late Arthur and Helen Snelgrove. Betty beloved wife of the late James Wilfred Pearce. Beloved mother of Joseph Pearce and his wife Helen of Kemptville, John Pearce of Oshawa, Susan and her husband Ron Hamilton of Oshawa. Loving grandmother of Melissa, Kevin and Candise. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Marie Blouin and her husband George of Longlac, Ontario, Pat Logeman of Oshawa and by her brother Jack Snelgrove and his wife Elva of Oshawa. She was predeceased by her sister Margaret Morten and brothers James (Jimmy) Snelgrove, Don Snelgrove, and Bill Snelgrove.

Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Sunday June 13 from 2-4 and 7-9pm.

Funeral Service in the Chapel on Monday June 14 at 1pm. Interment Thornton Cemetery.

Memorial Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

STAPLES, John Douglas -

Passed away peacefully at the Port Perry Community Hospital on Friday, June 11, 2010 in his 89th year.

Survived by his loving wife Margaret Holtby and predeceased by Winifred (nee Bonney) and Joyce (nee Sanderson). Loving father of Ann (Alex) Lawrence. Predeceased by his sisters Gladys Staples and Jessie Corlett. Fondly remembered by Phyllis, Paul, Joy, Jim and Patrick. Will be missed by Patricia, Ed, Rob, Jean, Neil and Heather.

Funeral Service on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.

In John's memory, memorial donations may be made to the Queen's Theological College or the Pet Trust Fund (University of Guelph).

STODDARD, Doris Eileen (nee Thompson & Carter) -

1923-2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother on Friday June 11, 2010 at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville.

Doris, much loved wife of William (Bill) Mitchell Stoddard (RCAF WWII Overseas Veteran), and the late Kenneth Roland Carter (RCAF WWII Overseas Veteran d. 1952). Adored mother of Gary Carter (Karen), Bill Stoddard Jr. (Eren), and Brent Stoddard (Karlan). Dearest grandma of Tyler (Stephanie), Carly (Brad), Haley (Jason), Jamie (Samantha), Sabrina, Abril, Danny and Sofia. Predeceased by her parents, Walter Adrian Thompson and Olive Beatrice Cole, her brother Jack Ira Thompson (Joan), and her sister, Jean Olive Harnden (Rick). Much loved sister-in-law of the late Helen Campbell (the late Bob), Evelyn Palmer (the late Lloyd), Mona Lofthouse (the late Ross) and brother-in- law to John (Jack) Stoddard (Pauline). Doris also treasured her close relationship with her Carter family, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Doris was born in Toronto on April 11, 1923. She married Ken Carter in 1942 and he passed away tragically in 1952. In 1954, she married Bill and they raised their family in Don Mills, Ontario but also loved their time at the cottages on Lake Muskoka for over 50 years. She always looked forward to both the Stoddard and Thompson picnics as they kept family close.

A Special Thank you to the doctors & staff at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville for their exceptional care & compassion during Doris’ illness.

Friends and relatives may be received at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. Bowmanville, for a Celebration of Life on Saturday June 19, 2010 at 3 pm.

Memorial Donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, C.N.I.B. or Canadian Diabetic Association would be appreciated by the family.

NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME

Van VEGHEL, Fransiscus Marinus (Frank) -

Frank passed away peacefully with family by his side at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Friday, June 11, 2010 his 84th year.

Frank was a dedicated Chef for 35 years at St. John's School. Beloved husband of Cathy van Veghel (nee Joosten) and the late Hilda van Veghel (nee Albino). Lovingly remembered by his brother Meis (Betsy) of Deurne, Netherlands and predeceased by his brothers Louis and Jan of the Netherlands. Loving father of Lucia (Trudy); Maurice (Laura); Frank (Donna); Mary (Bob); Hubert (Nancy); Rosa (Bill) and Michael (Kelly). Loving step-father of Tina (Mike); Joanne (Ken); Teresa (Russell); Bernie (Leslie); Rita (J.J.); Russell (Terri); Harriet (Adele); Yvonne (Doug) and Patti (David). Cherished Opa of the late Frank van Veghel 3rd, 34 surviving grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren.

Frank will always be remembered by his many nieces and nephews and their families. Frank's many friends in the Uxbridge area, Netherlands and Curacao will dearly miss him.

Very special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.

A celebration of life be held at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (70 Toronto St. N., Uxbridge), on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception at the Sacred Heart Community Hall.

If desired, memorable donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or a charity of your choice.

CADER, Arnold -

Passed away suddenly after a courageous battle with his health, at home with his wife by his side on Thursday, June 10, 2010.

Loving husband to Angela. Loving father to David (Cheryl) and Kathy (Glen). Papa will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Jasmine, Jacob, Candice and Jordyn. He will also be missed by his sister Susan (Keevie), brother Ricky and his mother Helen Cader. Predeceased by his father Ivan.

A Funeral Service was held on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cancer Program at Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation.

FLETCHER, Robert Adam

Beloved husband of Janet (nee Park) for 51 years. Loving father of the late Robert, Irene (Brian), the late Sandra (Randy), Lorraine (Randy) and Linda (Craig). Papa will be sadly missed by his gang Brian, David, Randy, Katrina, Michael, Robert, Adam, Janet, Justin, Natasha, Catherine and Candice and by his great grandchildren Brianna, R.J. and Savannah. He will be remembered by family and friends in Canada and Scotland.

Beloved wife of the late Fred Peckover. Loving mother of Grace Tanfara (Frank), and Helen Seto. Dear sister of Doris Peckover, Edna Perry (Bob), Gertie Goddard, Dolly Goddard (George), and Jim Ballard (Barbara). Predeceased by brother Fred Ballard and brothers in law Wes, Bob, and Jack. Sadly missed by her Grandchildren Diane, Lora, Dean, Brian, David and Denise.

Friends will be received at the W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas St. E., Whitby (905) 668-3410 on Friday June 11, 2010 from 7 to 9 pm. A Service will take place in the chapel on Saturday June 12, 2010 at 1 pm. Visitation in the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service.

Interment to follow at GROVESIDE CEMETERY.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Whitby Seniors Activity Centre and are greatly appreciated.

SHEPHERD, Lynda (nee Muir)

Suddenly at her home on Thursday, June 10th, 2010 at the age of 58.

Beloved wife of Richard for 35 years. Loving sister of Terry Muir (Pat), Janene Franklin and the late Bonnie Turner. Sister-in-law of Robert Shepherd (Judy). Dear niece of Bobbi McFadden of Thunder Bay. Aunt of Jeff Muir, Eric Muir (Samantha), Leslie Hovi (Colin) and Syd Turner (Amanda). Predeceased by her parents Robert and Marie Muir.

Lynda was a 25 year employee of The Canadian Hearing Society.
