BABIC, Mary Doris Babic (nee Richardson) -

January 30, 1937 - June 9, 2010

Doris, as known to her family and friends, was an angel to all she knew. She is survived by her husband John, her children John Babic (Jennifer) and Vesna Natalizio (Joe), and her grandchildren, Joey Natalizio, Adam Natalizio, Jeffrey Babic and Isabelle Babic. Doris is also survived by her siblings Betty, Lee, Aurele, Delma, Allard, Delcia, Gerald, Gertrude and Geraldine, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all.

Resting at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby (905-655-3662) from 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Then to Holy Family Catholic Church, 91 Ribblesdale Dr. Whitby Saturday morning (June 12th) at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the R.S.McLaughlin Cancer Center would be appreciated.

BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME

BASSETT, Edward Arthur -

(April 4, 1917 - June 9, 2010) Passed away peacefully at home in the same way he lived his life, with dignity and grace.

He was 93 years old. He will be terribly missed by his children Barry (Phyllis), Terry and Wendy (Andrew) along with grandchildren Amanda (Shawn), Lindsay, Nicole (Mike), Katie (Kevin) and great-grandchildren Jenson, Lyndon and Matthew. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Lois Audrey (2007).

Edward (Ted) spent most of his life, living and working in the Oshawa, Whitby area. He joined the family jewellery business in 1939, leaving for a short period of time to serve during WWII in the RCAF. He also married the love of his life Lois in June of 1942, enjoying 64 years of marriage. He opened his own store in November 1956 at the Oshawa Shopping Centre, where he worked until retiring at the age of 81.

In addition, he was a long standing member of the local Rotary club and served as a member of the Oshawa Board of Education for 6 years.

Many thanks to his loving caregivers Carla and Gloria, the Palliative care team and Dr. Vu, along with Veterans Affairs for helping make his final time as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Visitation will be held at McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Old Kingston Rd., Ajax on Friday, June 11, 2010 from 7-9 p.m.

If so desired, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated.

BROADBENT, Clare Agnes -

Passed away at the Village of Taunton Mills Whitby on Wednesday June 9th, 2010 in her 83rd. year.

Dearly loved mother of Kathy and her husband Shawn Perry of Whitby and Kevin Broadbent (Gloria Coles) of Ajax. Grandmother of Jeremy, Jonathan and Amanda. Survived by her sister Frances Jones of Huntsville. Predeceased by Peggy, Jane, Anne, Teddy and Donny.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the People Catholic Church, 570 Marion Ave, Oshawa on Saturday June 12th, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Whitby.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society and may be made at the BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby 905-655-3662.

at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, in her 87th year.

Loving wife of the late Emerson Edward Jones. Dear mother of Mildred, Wayne, Brian, and David, and the late Valerie. Sadly missed by grandchildren Trevor, Dwayne, Miranda, Stephanie, Brian, Jr., and Kristin, and great-grandchildren Michael, Nicholas, Charlotte, Brandon, and Braden.

Friends may call at the NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S., Newcastle (just north of 401 at the lights) on Friday, June 11, from 2-4 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Lakeview Cemetery.

(Retired employee of TTC and GO Transit; Life member of Masonic Lodge No. 333 A.F. & A.M. St. George Glasgow; Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #43)

It’s with heavy hearts and a profound sense of sadness that Walter, in his 79th year, has passed and been reunited with his lifelong partner, Margaret, of 53 years.

Wally was known by everyone as a kind-hearted and gentle man due to his random acts of kindness. He will forever live in the hearts of his family, George and his wife Maria, Lizabeth and her husband Wayne and the love of his life his grandchildren, Lindsay, Gavin, Alicia and Katelyn.

Relatives and friends may call at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King Street East, Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 pm. On Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 1:00 pm a service will be held in the chapel. Interment Thornton Cemetery.

WATSON, Ronald

Passed away suddenly on Wednesday June 9th, 2010 in his 76th year. Dearly loved husband of Muriel Watson of Whitby. Loved Dad of Lori and her husband Curtis MacDougall, Dawn Clinton (Dean Gallant), Ron Watson and his wife Johna Janelle. Grandfather of Rick, Kim, Adam, Sydney, Charlotte and Andrew.

Memorial Visitation at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby (905-655-3662) from 2-4 p.m. Sunday. Memorial service will follow in the chapel Monday afternoon (June 14th) at 1:00 p.m.

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at the age of 94, at Hillsdale Estates.

Predeceased by her husband Harry Allen, who died in 2001. Also predeceased by her 1st husband, Gordon Robinson who died in 1954. She is survived by her son Ralph Robinson and his wife Lyn, three daughters Jacqueline Hosey and her husband the late Hurvin, Irene Jackson and her husband Ralph and Marilyn Whelpley of Cobourg. Will be lovingly remembered by 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Cremation. A private family graveside service was held at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens.

DMITRIEW, Wjacheslaw (Bob)-

At the Deep River and District Hospital on Tuesday June 8, 2010.

Bob Dmitriew age 85 years. Beloved husband of Margaret Dmitriew. Loving father of Ludmilla Dean and her husband Bill of Bancroft, David Dmitriew and his wife Christine of Lindsay and Rima Dmitriew of Oshawa. Dear step-father of Surena Wentzell and her husband David and Wayne Wentzell and his wife Jen both of Oshawa. Cherished grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Also survived by a sister-in-law Clava Dmitriew of Russia. Predeceased by a brother George Dmitriew.

Friends may call at the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River on Wednesday June 9th from 2-4 p.m. and then ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Friday June 11th from 7-9 p.m.

Funeral Service to be conducted in the Chapel of the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME on Saturday June 12th at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.

DUNN, Ann Chopik -

of Oshawa, ON. Peacefully passed away on Tuesday, June 8th, 2010, at the Oshawa Lakeridge Hospital.

Ann was predeceased by her parents Harry and Mary (Plypew) Chopik. Devoted mother of five children; Barry (Rose), Lonny (Wendy), Charmaine (Sheba and Nanuk), Lenore Farrell, and Lona (Everett) O'Reilly. Ann is also survived by her former husband Alonzo Thomas Dunn. Baba enjoyed and loved her eight grandchildren Colleen, Sara, Joseph, Heather, Katherine, Laura, Scarlett and Justin, plus five great-grandchildren Liam, Reagan, Hayden, Avery and Jackson. Ann will be sadly missed by her brother Paul Chopik, and sisters Sylvia McPhee and Rose Rolko, and all of her nieces and nephews.

Ann was the proud founder and proprietress of the renowned Matador Club in West Toronto from 1964 - 2007, a legendary nightclub.

As per her wishes, private services were held at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, in Whitby, (905-443-3376) on Sunday, June 13, 2010.

A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010, at St. George the Great Martyr Ukrainian Catholic Church, 38 Lviv Blvd., Oshawa.

In lieu of flowers, donations accepted for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Hearing Society, www.chs.ca.

DUFFIELD, Wilfred

(WWII Veteran; Founder of the Durham Unemployed Help Centre)

Peacefully at the Hillsdale Terraces surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, June 8th, 2010 in his 90th year.

Beloved husband of Josephine. Predeceased by his first wife Olive. Loving father of Sharon Cadsand (Daniel), Faye Tilling and Paul Duffield (Linda). Dear grandfather of Scott, Sherri, Shannon, Trish, Shane, Jeramy; and great grandfather of Michael, Karysa, Damon, Austin, Samantha, Jasmine, Kipton and Isabel. Lovingly remembered by stepchildren Marlene Hance (Pete), late Wayne Davidson (Joan) and their families. Survived by his brothers Reg, Stan, and his sister Winnifred and predeceased by Irene, Lillian and Fred. Friends and family will be received at the CAW Hall (1425 Phillip Murray Ave., Oshawa) for a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 12th at 1:00 P.M.

Memorial donations made to the Alzheimer Association would be appreciated.
