It is with profound sadness that the Burton family announces the sudden passing of Calvin Wade as a result of a tragic accident on Thursday, October 26, 2006 in his 26th year.
Beloved youngest son of Ivan and Barbara.
He will be fondly remembered by his sister Joanne, and older brother Ivan Jr.
Cherished grandson of Andrew and Doris Saunders, and Augustus and Molly Burton (Newfoundland).
Adoring uncle to Nathaniel and Isaiah. He will be sadly missed by a multitude of extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Southside Worship Centre (55 Emperor St., Ajax). Burial to follow.
FERRY, Ernest Edward (WW II Veteran)
It is with deep sadness that the family announce the passing of a wonderful father and grandfather.
On Thursday, October 26th, 2006, one month after his 85th birthday, peacefully, at home, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family.
Predeceased by his wife Helen Patricia (nee Farquharson), the love of his life, whom he missed dearly.
He will be sorely missed by his six children and their families, Patricia and Don Robertson, Paula and Jim Wineck, Chris and Karen, Peter and Pauline, Jackie and David Flynn, Madeleine and Roy Marriott.
Remembered fondly by his 27 grandchildren and one great-grandchild who will miss their 'Grampy' - the candyman who always had a pocketful of jelly beans.
After serving with the British Army in World War 11, Dad came to Canada in 1950 where he met and married the woman he loved and treasured with all his heart.
They moved to Whitby in 1966 to raise their young family.
An auto mechanic by trade, Dad ran the old Spur station on Brock Street for years before becoming a stay-at-home dad from 1969 to the early 80s, looking after us as our mum worked as a successful real estate agent.
A volunteer with Community Care Durham in Whitby since 1986, Dad spent most of his senior years helping others.
One of twelve children, born in England, he is survived by his brother Len (Kay) and sisters-in-law Olive and Doreen of England and Eileen Farquharson, Pam Canham, Margaret (Mike) Mullane, all of Scarborough.
A dear uncle to many nieces and nephews, his easy-going nature, wonderful sense of humor, and twinkling blue eyes will be missed by all.
In memory of Ernie, charitable donations may be made to Whitby Community Care or Canadian War Amps.
