WHYTE, Brenda Margaret (nee Vermoen)
Passed away at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington, on Sunday, December 24, 2006, at the age of 59. Beloved wife of Paul. Loved mother of Brad Lawrence and his wife Tara and Hilary Doherty and her husband Keith, all of Burlington and step-mother of Jennifer Thibeault and her husband Jason of Edmonton and Kelly Taylor and her husband Mark of Niagara Falls. Cherished grandmother of Zachary, Tyler, Maci, Easton, Ella, Keiran and Molly. Dear daughter of Doris and the late Cornelius 'Neil' Vermoen of Oshawa and daughter-in-law of the late Dorothy Whyte. Sister of Tom Vermoen and his wife Marion of Oshawa and sister-in-law of Doug Whyte and his wife Sally of St. Catharine's. Aunt of Robin, Sarah and Jonathan. Private cremation. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm, where Service of Remembrance will take place Friday, December 29, 2006, at 11 am. If desired, expressions of sympathy to the Salvation Army or Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.

BURLEIGH, Jessie
Passed away at Ajax Pickering Hospital on Saturday, December 23, 2006 in her 79th year. Dearly loved wife of the late David Burleigh. Much loved mother of Linda and her husband Arnold Tripp of Brooklin, Douglas and his wife Anne Burleigh of Brooklin and Karen and her husband Steven Kerr of Ennismore. Grandmother of Martin, Janis, Jennifer, Jenna, Allan and Andrew. Great-grandmother of Steven, Shelby, Karleena, Kalley and Caiden. Sister of Violet Cordon of Oshawa and the late Mabel and Melvin. Resting at MEMORIAL CHAPEL BROOKLIN, 79 Baldwin St. Brooklin Village Whitby from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 26. Funeral Service in the chapel Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at GROVESIDE CEMETERY, Brooklin. If desired memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society, Brooklin United Church or the Canadian Diabetes Association.

BURNS, Robert Victor
(1926 - 2006)
It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Robert Victor Burns. Bobby passed away peacefully at the Bay Ridges Nursing Home on December 23, in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Morag (Marion) and the late Nancy MacKenzie. Loved father of Rob (Marion), Durk, Sean (Karen), Kerri, and grandfather of Megan, Jessie and Darcy. Bobby will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his friends and family. After serving in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II, Bobby began his hockey career in Scotland as both player and later coach. He continued to play hockey recreationally while serving on the East York Police Force, throughout his 26 years as a stationary engineer at the University of Toronto and well into his retirement. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Bay Ridges Long Term Care Facility, where Bobby was cared for with much love and compassion.

DEVLIN, William Henry
Passed away at Lakeridge Health, Bowmanville on Saturday, December 23rd, 2006 in his 69th year. Father of Kelly-Anne Heydens of Brooklin. Grandfather of Trevor and Kristopher. A heartfelt thank you to friends and neighbours for all their kindness and support. Private family services entrusted to MEMORIAL CHAPEL BROOKLIN, 79 Baldwin Street Brooklin Village, Whitby, 905-655-3662.

MORGAN, Lorraine
Died as gracefully as she lived on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at the Ballycliffe Retirement Home. Beloved wife of the late Grover Morgan. She was the much loved aunt of Allan and Allison, great-aunt to Wayne, Chris, Brad and Braden and great-great-aunt to Kayla, Jessica, Shayne, Cheyenne, Amanda, Kristy and Dillon. An informal gathering of Lorraine's family and friends will celebrate her life on Thursday, January 18, 2007 from 2 - 4 pm at 1228 Abbey Road, Pickering. Call 905-839- 9840 if needed. RUDDY, Madge Ann
At Lakeridge Health Corp. Oshawa, on Saturday, December 23, 2006. Madge, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late William Gorden Ruddy. Loving mother of Robert 'Bob' Ruddy and wife Patricia of Oshawa, and Donald 'Don' Ruddy and wife Kathryn of Kingston. Dear grandmother of Bill Ruddy and wife Tamara, the late Michael Ruddy, Matthew Ruddy, Jennifer Ruddy-O'Carroll and husband Aran, Ellen Ruddy and Crista Ruddy. Great-grandmother of Will and Jonathon Ruddy and Eoghan Ruddy-O'Carroll. Predeceased by sisters Florence Heard, Jean Heard and brother John and wife Shirley Heard. Dear aunt of John and Bernice Heard and son Keith and Joni Heard and husband Doug Bakes. Private family service will be held at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) with interment at GROVESIDE CEMETERY. SMITH, David Oliver
(WWII Veteran)
A proud Canadian passed away at the Port Perry Hospital on Saturday, December 23, 2006, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Lily Estelle Smith (nee Barlow). Loving father of Michael and his wife Elizabeth, Vickie and her husband Terry Edwards, and Connelly and his wife Valarie. His legacy is his 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered by his sisters Barbara Thompson, Dulcie Barlow, Ann Thomas, and his brother Russell Smith. A Celebration of David's life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 170 (109 Franklin Street, Uxbridge) on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation.
