NICHOLSON, Cavell Hugh
(attended Crossroads Christian Assembly; former coal miner; 16-year contractor with Veridian)
Passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, November 11, 2006, in his 71st year. Loving and devoted husband of Christa of Pontypool. Beloved father of Hugh and his wife, Bonnie of Barrie, Bruce and his wife, Wendy and their daughter, Amber, all of Bowmanville, Belinda of Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Greg and his wife, Nancy of Millbrook; Jack Tretter and his wife, Mary of Whitby, and Michael Tretter, also of Whitby. Cherished grandfather of Greg, Nicole, Ian, Krystal, Nolan, Katie, Lacey; Caitlin, Brittany, Mallory, Elisa, James, and four great-grandchildren. Caring brother of Christine, Florence, Margie, Donald, Gary, the late Melrose, Jack, Shelby, Angus, Theodore, Ann, Richard, Sandra, Lynn, Daniel and the late William Kenneth, and all of their spouses. Predeceased by his parents, Archie and Mary Ann of Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. Cavell will be sadly missed by his twin brother, Melrose's children, Tim, Sharlene, Edwin, Carla and Tracey, as well as his many other nieces and nephews totaling 140. Friends may call at NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S. (just north of 401 at the lights; 905-987-3964), for visitation on Monday, November 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m., with visiting for one hour prior to the service. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay. Memorial donations to the Durham Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated.

TABER, Frederick Gordon
Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, on Saturday, November 11th, 2006 in his 70th year. Son of the late Gordon Taber and the late Jessie Taber. Devoted husband of Gert Taber (Wray) for 47 years. Much loved father of Jeff, Steve (Melanee), Charlie (Ruthann), Julie (Ken), Vicki (Ron), and Joan. Cherished grandfather of Sarah, Jessica, Michelle, Rebecca, Kate, Fred, Erin and Jon. Resting at MEMORIAL CHAPEL BROOKLIN, 79 Baldwin Street, Brooklin Village, Whitby from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Then to BROOKLIN UNITED CHURCH, (Cassels and Princess Sts.) Brooklin where visitation will commence from 1:00 p.m. Wednesday with funeral service to follow in the church at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at GROVESIDE CEMETERY, Brooklin. If desired memorial donations to the Diabetes Association, Palliative Care (Lakeridge Oshawa), or Brooklin United Church would be appreciated by the family. Members of Beethoven Lodge, No. 165 Brooklin are asked to assemble at the funeral home, Tuesday evening at 6:30 for service.

Dear brother-in-law to Bud (Jane) Field, Pat (Nadia) Field, and Jane (the late Raymond) Adams and lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N., Bowmanville, on Tuesday, November 14th, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15th, 2006 at TRINITY UNITED CHURCH, Bowmanville. Loving mother of Linda & her husband, Bob Rogers of Oshawa and Susan & her husband, Jerry Hughes of Little Britain and John & Don Hall. Special mother of the late Sid Wetherup. Dear sister of Hilda (Polly) and predeceased by her 14 brothers and sisters. Forever in the hearts of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Saturday, November 18th 2006 from 2-4 pm. Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 4 pm. Muriel, beloved wife and best friend for 52 years of Jim Smith. Loving mother of Stephen Smith and Margot of Toronto, and Debbie and her husband, Vince Foss. Loved Nanny of Jake, James, Campbell, Crystal (Matthew) and Jeremy, and Great Nanny of Hannah and Jillian. Dear sister of Phyllis Rushforth (the late Bud), Midge and Lloyd Horn, Ruth and Al Wareham, Art and Betty Hunt, Fred and Shirley Hunt, Walter and Carroll Hunt, and the late Stan Hunt and his wife, Olive, the late Daisy and Elmer Peeler, the late Milly and Milton Campbell, the late Cyril and Shirley Hunt, the late Dick Hunt and his wife, June, the late Louise and Pete Spencer, and the late Bert Hunt and his wife, Sylvia, and is predeceased by her parents Ernest and Dorothy Hunt. Muriel will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all her loving family and many dear friends.
