McCARTHY, Jean
Peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, August 28th, 2006 at the Rouge Valley Health Center, Ajax Site. Jean beloved wife of Gus. Cherished mother of Joe and his wife Elisa and Kevin. Devoted Granny of Jacob and Erin. Lovingly remembered by Eileen and Steve, Melva, Gertrude, Margaret, Donald and Joe and their families. Funeral Mass on Friday, September 1st, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church, 21 Bayly Street East (Bayly and Harwood). In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Jean's memory would be appreciated by her family.

BRANT, Bob (Manley)
Retiree after 33.7 years service at General Motors Corporation.
Peacefully on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa at the age of 68. Bob, beloved husband of Mary Brant (nee Doiron). Loving father of Darryl, Brian and Art. Loving step father of Debbie, Brenda, Terry and Guy. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Cassandra, Nicole, Lisa, Jake, Kristan, Melanie, Mia, Dwayne, Jodie, Justin, Ryan, Michael, and Darryl. Dear brother of Aldora Trudeau, and the late Belle, Bert, Busty (Art), and Rodney. Bob will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his loving family and many dear friends. Friends may call at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, on Thursday, August 31st from 7- 9pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, September 1st at 1pm. Cremation. Of Oshawa, entered into rest at Lakeridge Health-Bowmanville, on Sunday, August 27th, 2006 in his 78th year. Alan was the beloved husband of Gillian (Goolden). Dear father of Nigel Heath and Sarah and her husband, Jeff Maybee. Much loved Papa of Rebecca, Christopher, Sara, David and Cameron. Alan was an employee of Ontario Motor Sales for 32 years, was a faithful member of St. Georges Memorial Anglican Church, Oshawa, since he landed in Canada, with his wife 49 years ago. His family would like to extend grateful thanks to Dr. Stone and the nursing staff on the South Wing of the 2nd floor at Lakeridge Health-Bowmanville for their excellent care. A Memorial Service will be held at ST. GEORGE'S MEMORIAL ANGLICAN CHURCH (51 Centre St., Oshawa) on Thursday, August 31st at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. George's Memorial Church or the M.S. Society will be much appreciated by the family. Passed away suddenly at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Sunday, August 27th, 2006 at the age of 86. Dearly beloved husband of Gloria Hesketh of 59 years. Loving brother of Olive Barker. He was a proud father of Glen, Cheryl, Gary, & Greg (deceased). Missed by son-in-law, Terry and daughter-in-law, Jennifer. Loving grandfather of Matthew, Valerie, Joey, Glenna, Christopher, Madeleine, & Joanne. Will be missed by all of his friends. Memorial service will be held at a later date at the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 112, Whitby, Ontario.

Died suddenly at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Sunday, August 27, 2006. Clifford Christie Newans, in his 92nd Year, dearly beloved husband of the late Louise Mary Petrino. Loving father of Clifford Newans and his wife Marion of Whitby and Janet O'Hara and her husband Fred of Havelock. He was the proud grandfather of Jim, Darren, Marlene, Keith and Kim. And cherished great-grandfather of Chris, Conner, Joseph, Brenna, Kevin and Carolyn. Predeceased by his brothers William and Glenn and sister Leola Mc Guire. Friends were received at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street, East, Oshawa (905) 433-4711 on Tuesday, August 29th. from 2 - 5 p.m. and then at the Lannin Funeral Home, 32 Main Street East, Smith Falls, Ontario (613) 283-7225, on Wednesday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, 230 Main Street West, Merrickville, Ontario, at 2 p.m. Interment, St. Ann's Parish Cemetery. Memorial Donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

TERRY, Albert James
Peacefully, on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at the Community Nursing Home in Port Perry, at age 93. Albert Terry of Port Perry, loving husband of Velma Stainton (nee Purvis) and the late Evelyn (nee Sonley) (1975). He was the oldest son of William and Leta Terry of Uxbridge. Dearly loved father of one son, Ivan Terry of Cannington, and one daughter, Joyce and her husband Douglas Richardson of Oshawa, and stepfather of Wayne Stainton and his wife Daphen of Port Perry, Scott Stainton of Lindsay, and Reid Stainton and his wife, Clare, Catherine and her husband, David Ballingall, Bruce Stainton and his wife, Gail, and Bryan Stainton and his wife, Joan, all of Port Perry. Loving grandfather of Joanne, Jennifer, Carol, Ross, Vicki, Melanie, Annette, Tracy, Stacey, Tara, Shannon, Brittney, Cory, Jordan, and great-grandfather of Rebecca, Spencer, Matthew, Melissa, Dustin, Coty and Taylor. Predeceased by his sister, Lillian and his brothers, Lloyd and Donald. The family of Albert Terry will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 'McDermott-Panabaker Chapel', 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171), on Wednesday, August 30th from 7 - 9 p.m. A Service to celebrate his life will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, August 31st at 11 a.m. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Sunderland. Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Corp. Whitby on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Nastia Zaika (nee Kobzar) for 58 years. Loving father of Vera Wolowec and her husband, Walter, Lydia Zaika, Nina Zaika, Helen Thompson and her husband, Brian, Dan Zaika and his wife, Jackie. Cherished Djeed of Larissa, Jonathan, Nancy, Aaron, Sarah, Stephanie, Bradley, and Edward and great-grandfather of Kyle and Bailey. Walter will be fondly remembered by his family and friends in Canada, United States, and Ukraine. Loving father of Peter Bialek of Boston, Mass, Gregory Bialek of Concord, North Carolina, and Andrew Bialek of Oshawa. Dear brother of Rosemary Sciuk and her husband, George of Oshawa, and Eugenia Cusson of Waterloo. Dear brother-in-law of John and Paul Falkowski. Edward will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his loving family and many friends. Cherished Papa of Rhonda, Jeffery, Stacey, Kristen, Alice, Aaron, Cory, Michael and Curtis. Dear brother of Bill Harding, Fred (the late Barb) Harding, Margaret (the late Eric) Jacklin and the late George Harding, Bert Harding and Mary (Don) Mountjoy. Loving father of Mark Henkelman and his wife, Jannie, Mary Henkelman, and Anne Bigham and her husband, Gerald. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jonathan Henkelman and his wife Jill, Graeme Henkelman and his wife Beth, Erika Henkelman, Andrew Bigham and his wife Laura, Aaron Bigham and his wife Jennifer, and Sarah Bigham. Proud great-grandfather of Rachael Bigham. Brother and good friend of Frank Henkelman and his wife, Orma and brother-in-law of Ross Alloway and his wife, Ruth, Margaret Gentry and her husband Norm, and the late Miller Alloway. Vic will be sadly missed by his extended family and church community. Loving father of Glenn and his wife, Debbie, Gary and his wife, Kathy, and step-father of Lynda and her husband, Rick Rickard. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Andy, Stuart, Sarah, Ricky, Michael, Ian, and Rebecca. Dear brother of Florence and her husband, Ernie Reeds, Julia Bater, Hilda and her husband, LaVerne Gostlin, and of the late Phyllis Reeds, John, Ralph, Bill, and Lillian Kennedy. The family will receive friends at the W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby (905-668-3410), from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Tuesday. McCALLUM, Bruce D.
Passed away peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, August 26, 2006, in his 67th year. Bruce, beloved husband of the late Marilyn. Loving and caring father of Shawn of Toronto, Cindy Baird and her husband Mark of Newcastle, and the late Jamie. Little Grampa to Alex and Eric, and Grampa to Amanda and Michael. Predeceased by his brothers Rick and Philip. Sadly missed by other family members and many close friends in the Shelbourne and Orangeville area.
