BLACKBURN, R. Eileen (nee Cowling)
In her 88th year.
Suddenly at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Friday, August 21, 2009. Beloved wife of the late Wilbur Blackburn. Loving mother of Wayne (Joan); Carol; Doug (Norma); Dale; and Neil (Karen). Dear grandma of Susan (Jason); Wendy (Ross); Jeremy (Kelly); Shawna (Chris); Kyle; and Carson and great-grandma of 6 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Thomas & Katherine Cowling and her sister Myrtle Anderson. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews and many friends and relatives. Visitation will be held at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, Bowmanville, on Monday, August 24, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held in our Chapel on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 11am. Cremation. Interment Bethesda Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to the Memorial Hospital Foundation - Bowmanville or a Charity of your choice.

HARRIS, Stanley John
Age 65 years.
Suddenly at his home on Friday, August 21st, 2009. Loving father of Angie, Amanda and Steve. Cherished Papa of Kylee, Mathew, Jaidyn, Chelsea, Alysa, Zefann, Nathan, Charmane, Brandon, Kristen, Renai and Jared. Dear brother of Bill & Lorna Harris, Kelly & Helen Harris, Barb & Daryl Hunt and Gloria & Steve Yaciuk. Stan will be sadly missed by his best friend Ted. Visitation will be held at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division Street North Bowmanville, on Thursday, August 27th, 2009 from 4 – 6 pm. Funeral Service will follow in the chapel at 6 pm. Cremation. Memorial Donations may be made to The Hospital for Sick Children.

HILL, Gladys Eleanor (B.Sc.N)
(member of Business and Professional Women's Club, the Oshawa Camera Club and Oshawa Rug Hooking Club)
At Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Friday, August 21, 2009 at the age of 99. Gladys was born on February 8, 1910 in Kenora, ON. She was a graduate of Port Arthur Collegiate, the Port Arthur General Hospital- School of Nursing, and the University of Western Ontario, London (B.Sc.N.). Gladys worked at Belleville General Hospital (1946-1948), Galt General Hospital (1948-1953 and Oshawa General Hospital (1954-1972) where she served as an instructor in Nursing and Director of Nursing Education. Gladys is survived by her brother Albert (Bert) Russell Hill and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is predeceased by her parents George and Mabel Hill, her sisters Marion and Gwen and her brothers Jim and Lloyd. Gladys will be sadly missed by many good friends. Resting at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice, 905-432-8484 where the family will receive friends on Thursday, August 27th from noon until time of service in the chapel at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to the Charity of your Choice would be appreciated.

WHYTE, Bob
Sue, Jennifer and the extended Whyte and Martin families sadly share the news of Bob Whyte's sudden passing on August 21, 2009. Bob was fulfilling a long planned motorcycle trip as he journeyed across the USA to visit family in Alberta. On the return trip, an accident occurred in Utah and he succumbed to his injuries. Bob, like his son Ian, fully shared his life with others, finding happiness with family and friends. He had a strong belief that in order to live life to the fullest, one had to live without fear. As per Bob's request, there will be a celebration of life at the Hampton United Church, on Saturday October 3rd at 1 PM (Old Scugog Rd north of Taunton) with a gathering at his home following. Please come and share some 'Bob' stories with family and friends. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario through the Ian Whyte Memorial Ball Hockey tournament at www.ianwhyte.ca (general donation) or to a Charity of your choice.

BUCHANAN, Sarah Nancy (Sal) (nee Cathcart)
Peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Alec (Bucky). Mother and best friend to Joan Buchanan (Dennis), Sandy (Rick Smiles), Patricia (John Sawdon), Doug (Jenny) Buchanan. Loving Grandmother to Bonnie (Chris), Michael, (Barbara) Diane (Gerrit), Stephanie (Jarnie), Keith (Elizabeth) Jaye (Tara), Kevin, Kristine and Jeffrey and great- grandmother to Eric, Diane, Sarah, Trinity, Eden and John. Dear sister to John, Gordon, Donald, Bruce, Douglas, and predeceased by Jean. Sal will be sadly missed by family, friends (Northbrook) and all who knew him. Friends may call at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2009, also from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2009 followed by service in the chapel at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

DAVIDSON, John Craig
Suddenly at his home in Oshawa on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the age of 49. John, beloved son of the late John and Patricia Davidson. Loved brother of Doris Winder, and Sheena Lazenka and her husband Louis Robichaud. Loving uncle of Meiri-Clare, Phillip and Carrie-Anne, Kevin, and Kyle and his wife Lindsay, Ronnie and his wife Erin and Don and his wife Ahlem. John will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Friends may call at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, on Tuesday, August 25th from 1:30pm until service time in the chapel at 3pm. Cremation. Dear sister of Helena Lardi, Switzerland, Alex Mooser, Switzerland and Anton Mooser, Switzerland. Susan is predeceased by her parents Max Otto Mooser and Anna Wasserberg. Susan will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends in Canada and in Switzerland. BAUMCHEN, Margaret Anna Grace
Peacefully, on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Bowmanville, at age 93. Margaret (nee Dudley), beloved wife of the late Michael Baumchen of Nestleton. Loving mother of John Baumchen and his wife Nellie of Sunderland, Karen (deceased) and her husband Charles Cole of Bowmanville, Marilyn and her husband Eric Locke of Nestleton, Grace (deceased) and her husband Nuri Cagil, and Sandra (deceased). Cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her sister Mabel McKee, her brothers Ralph, Norman, Clayton and Arnold Dudley and she was predeceased by her brothers Raymond and Jack Dudley, and her sisters Dorothy Stanley and Myrtle Waters. The family of Margaret Baumchen will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Friday, August 21st from 2 - 3 p.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel at 3 p.m. with Reverend Linda Saffrey officiating. Interment Cartwright Union Cemetery, Blackstock. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region.
