SAWYER, Bonnie Arlene
Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009, with her loving family by her side in her 67th year. Loving mother of Sharon Carswell (Lou Chisholm), Shawn Mark (nee Sawyer). Will be sadly missed by Reg and her sisters Marg (Dee Dee) Crawford (Wayne) and Dorothy Brooks (Lyle, predeceased). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kyle, Sydney and Minnie. Predeceased by sister Bev Mark and brothers Clayton (Barb, predeceased), Bruce (Dianne, predeceased) and Brice. Survived by her sister-in-law, Jackie Mark. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Bonnie was past, part owner of City Wide Taxi, and currently with Blue Line Taxi and will be very sadly missed. Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Sunday, September 27th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, September 28th at 1:00 P.M. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

THOMAS (Imelda) Pearl (nee JACKSON)
(1934-2009)
God called Pearl home to glory on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Grace Hospital Health Centre in Toronto. Pearl will be dearly missed by her sister Yvonne Jackson, her nieces Cherry Gopaul, Angela Thomas and Deborah Revanales as well as other family members in Trinidad, Canada and the United States. She will also be deeply missed by her adopted sister and brother, Marjorie Fonck and James Chestnutt (Eleanor, Jimi, Peter). Pearl enjoyed watching sports, and she had a passion for beautiful music and a lovely soprano voice. She travelled to many Baptist World Alliance Conventions. Pearl was a member of Yorkminster/Park Baptist Church in Toronto and also attended Blythwood Baptist. She nursed at Women's College Hospital for over 40 years. Many thanks to Dr. Lorraine PhiIp, Dr. Swartz, Lana Dee Lampman of the St. Elizabeth nurses, Catherine Prestwick of CCAC and the caring staff at Grace Hospital. Sincere thanks to all those friends who loved Pearl and cared for her during her illness. A celebration of Pearl's life is planned for Tuesday, October 6 at 1:30 p.m. to take place at Yorkminster/Park Baptist Church, 1585 Yonge St., Toronto (just north of St. Clair at Heath St.). In lieu of flowers, Pearl asked that if desired, donations be made toward the sanctuary pia no at Yorkminster/Park Baptist Church.

WEBB, William H. "Bert"
Passed away on September 23, 2009 at Lansing Retirement Home at the age of 100. Loving husband of the late Bertha Ross and loving father of Beverley (William McQueen). Grandpa of Kevin, Craig (Heather) and great-grandpa of Kate. He will be sadly missed by family and friends in California and Ontario. Retired Compositor and past member of UCT #72. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

WESTECOTT, David Walter
Suddenly at Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 in his 65th year. Dear son of the late Wallace and Margaret Westecott. Brother of Roy, Shirley Cleveland, Ethel Chambers, Bill, and Gertie (Rick) White. Predeceased by his brothers Walter and Albert. David will be missed by his nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of David's life will take place at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, on Monday, September 28th, 2009 at 1 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.

CHAPELLE, Violet
Gone to be with her Lord and Saviour. Peacefully at Hillsdale Estates on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, Vi in her 81st year. Loving and devoted mother of Ruby Carmichael (Duane), Lorraine Johnson (Don), Dale Potts (Kevin) and Mary La Chapelle-Stenner (Robert). Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Lee, Travis, Tanya and her husband Mark Brown, Lisa, Cody, Dustin, Jesse, Bethany, Ashley and great-grandchildren Bradley and Kaydance. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters Rolland, Jeanne, Paul, Jacqueline, Simonne, Real and Francoise. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King Street East, Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 12 noon until time of service in the chapel at 1 pm. Interment at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens. Donations made in memory of Vi to the Alzheimer Society of Durham.

McNEIL, John E. (Jack)
Passed away peacefully at the Ajax-Pickering Hospital on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009. Beloved husband of the late Catherine. Loving father, grandfather and brother. Jack was predeceased by his daughter Rachel. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, on Thursday, September 24th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, September 25th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (903 Gifford Street, Whitby) at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. Interment will take place in Nova Scotia where he will be reunited with his wife and daughter. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the CNIB would be appreciated by the family.

ROY, David John 'Johnny'
Passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa after a brief and courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Kilian). Loving father of Alexander and Katherine. David will be sadly missed by his parents John and Claudette Roy, brothers Marc (Kim), Eric and his sister Cheryl-Ann. Wonderful son-in-law to Helena and Ryszard (predeceased) Kilian and brother-in-law to Krystyna Lia (Joe), dear grandson of Lorraine Roberge. He will be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a proud employee of Ideal Industries, Ajax and a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Gregory's Council. Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Friday, September 25th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. HEDWIG'S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH (411 Olive Avenue, Oshawa) on Saturday, September 26th at 11:00 A.M. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Durham Regional Cancer Centre or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

STIER, Anna
On Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at 50 years of age. Wife of Scott Stier and dear mother of Brian, Mark and Liese. She will be lovingly remembered by partner Barry McVicker and his daughters Alana and Kaila. Daughter of Helen Powers and daughter-in-law of Doretta and the late Paul Stier. Sister of Tony, Karen and Sara and sister-in-law of Deborah and John Speca. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the charity of your choice.

STOAKLEY, Phyllis Muriel
STOAKLEY, Phyllis Muriel, 97, of Middleton, NS formerly of Oshawa, ON passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, NS. Born in Oshawa, ON, she was a daughter of the late Mark and Ada (Hill) Harland. In her early years, Phyllis enjoyed travelling with her late husband, Norman. She enjoyed knitting, reading and bingo and she always followed the Toronto Blue Jays and the Hamilton Tiger Cats. She is survived by her son Charles (Donna) Stoakley, Clarence; grandchildren Kathy James, Emma Kathleen, Carol Murphy and Doug Stoakley; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Norman, son Douglas, sisters Una, Alice, Sadie and brother Sidney. Cremation has taken place. Donations in her memory may be made to Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville.

TRANTER, Laurie Ann (nee MILLS)
Peacefully, at home, on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Amazing, strong and beautiful mom to Gillian, her fiancé Justin, and Kelly. Nana Laurie to her adored granddaughter Carly. Cherished daughter to Ann Walker and the late Stan Mills. Laurie had three special relationships, the late Jim Tranter, adoring father of Gillian, Tony, her loving partner for over 20 years and Rob her new found soul-mate. Lovingly remembered by her two brothers and her many dedicated friends. Laurie was a passionate reader, and she moved each person uniquely and deeply like a beautiful story. Her love of life was inspiring, leaving an imprint on all who loved her. She was our "everything" and she will forever be a part of who we are.

CATER, Frances Ellen "Nell"
Passed away peacefully at the Community Nursing Home on Monday, September 21, 2009 in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband, James William. Loving mother of Pauline and Andy Shea and Robert and Paula Cater. Devoted grandmother to Karen, Len, Laura, Brian, Jessica and J ose. Great-grandmother to Jamie, Sara and Ella. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at St. Isaac Jogues Roman Catholic Church at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian National Institution for the Blind.
