LEE, Elmer Wilfred
Passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at age 92. Elmer Lee of Port Perry, beloved husband of Audrey (nee Hood) for 65 years. Loving father of Larry Lee and his wife, Judy of Port Perry and Bob Lee and his wife, Joanne of Blackstock. Loved grandfather of Steven Lee (Ruth Robinson), Shari Lee, Jennifer Parry, and Dana (Brett Free) and great-grandfather of Lisa Lee, Brett Lee, Ella Parry, and Sophia Free. Dear brother of Lloyd Lee of Toronto, Rupert Lee of Port Perry and Ruth Wilson of Epsom, and predeceased by brothers Ronald and Kenneth. The Family of Elmer Lee will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 'McDermott-Panabaker Chapel', 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Wednesday, February 14th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A Service to celebrate his life will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, February 15th at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Nancy Monteith officiating. Interment, Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Port Perry United Church Memorial Fund or the Port Perry Hospital Foundation.

POWELL, James
(Retired Durham Regional Police Officer)
Passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the Lakeridge Health - Oshawa after a short illness at the age of 71. Beloved and devoted husband of Marion for 50 years. Loving father of Steven, Kelly, Jacqueline, Donald, Robert and Elizabeth. Cherished grandfather of 15 grandchildren. James will be lovingly remembered by his brother and sisters. Family will receive friends at the MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, 21 Garrard Road Whitby, Ontario (just north of Dundas) 905-665-0600 from 10 to 11 a.m. with a chapel service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2007. Cremation. If so desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

PROUTY, Stewart Eugene
Entered peacefully into rest at his home in Courtice, with family by his side, on Tuesday, February 13, 2007. Stewart Eugene Prouty, in his 85th year, was the beloved husband of Violet Curtis Prouty for over 58 years. Loving father of Janet (Lawrence) Brock, Donald (Pamela), Robert (Penelope Bender), Joy (Marcus) Sheffield, William, Joan (Marcel) LaPointe and Jean (Daniel) Benoit. Dearly remembered by 27 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, brother-in-law, Walter Fedusenko, sister-in-law, Louise Prouty, and extended family. Also, by brother-in-law, Roy Curtis and his wife, Ellen, close friends and neighbours for over 50 years. Predeceased by his sister, Phyllis and brother, Ivan Prouty. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 17th, 2007 at COLLEGE PARK CHURCH 1164 King St., E. in Oshawa. The Prouty family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until time of Memorial Service at 4:00 pm. As a remembrance, donations to Kingsway College Worthy Student Fund, the Canadian Cancer Society or a Charity of your choice, would be appreciated by the family.

Peacefully on Tuesday, February 13th, 2007 at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg. Beloved wife of the late John Smart. Dear mother of William - his wife, Debbie Smart and Deborah - her husband, Jim Leslie and the late Mary Beth Smart. Loving grandmother of Marianne, Amy - Jonathan. Dear sister of Douglas - Betty Skinner and Rita Skinner. Visitation will take place at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Wednesday, February 14th, 2007 from 2-4 - 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at ST. JOHN'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, Bowmanville, on Thursday, February 15th, 2007 at 11 am. Interment, Oshawa Union Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to Bethesda House, Community Care or Bowmanville Hospital.

STEZIK, Anne (nee Magalushen)
Peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Port Perry, on February 13, 2007, with her family around her, after a short illness, in her 84th year. Beloved wife for 63 years of the late John Stezik. Dear mother of Carol and her husband, Dennis Shewchuk, Darlene Iwaszko and John and his wife, Christine. Loving and devoted grandmother of Dennis and his girlfriend, Jackie, Terry and his wife, Susie, Peter, Teddy and Stephanie. Great-grandmother to Elizabeth and Matthew. Dear aunt to Jo-Anne and her husband, Calvin Sturgess. Survived by her sister-in-law, Victoria Stezik and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her grandson, Teddy, and her sister, Olga Vanya. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Panachyda will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church (31 Bloor St. E.). Anne was born in Oshawa, on August 8, 1923 to the late Matthew and Anastasia Magalushen. Anne was gainfully employed as a wife and mother where she was CEO of the family. Anne's two main loves were her family and her church. Anne devoted thousands of countless hours as a volunteer at St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Parish and was president of St. John's Ladies Aid for over 25 years. As a result, Anne was presented with a 50 year service award from the Ontario government for her volunteer work. Anne had a big heart and a kind word for all and was willing to help anyone in every way. Anne has gone to meet her sweetheart, John, for Valentine's Day. Special thanks to Trish from Comcare, Lisa from VHA, Dr. R Dhillon and her staff, the wonderful staff at Lakeridge Health Port Perry, the Very Reverend Father Gregory Mielnik, for all his calls, visits, and prayers. Memorial donations can be made to Reach for the Rainbow, the Ted Stezik Memorial Fund or St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

WHITE, Ernest Arthur
Veteran of WWII.
Peacefully after a short illness at Lakeridge Health Port Perry on February 13, 2007 in his 87th year. Ernest, loving husband to the late Dorothy. Father to Richard and wife, Patti White, Patti-Dey and husband, Joseph Wesselink and Cathy White. Beloved brother to Irene and the late Fredrick, Jean, Bus, Helen, Peggy, Victor, Elsie, Chuck and Donny. Will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Lisa, Mark, Amy, Kyle, Jeff, Beth, Adam, Mason and Spencer and by 10 great-grandchildren and his little buddy "Patches". Funeral service to be held at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Saturday, February 17th at 10.30 a.m. with interment at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens to follow. Memorial donations to the Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Visitation on Friday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. -9 p.m.

BARLOW, Donald Garry
Passed away suddenly while in Honduras on Monday, February 12th, 2007 at age 59. Devoted and cherished best friend of Linda Neale of Brooklin. Predeceased by his first wife, Nancy (Lombard). Survived by his parents, Harold and Elsie Barlow of Valleyfield, Que. Loving Father of Bethany (David), Gregory (Lisa), and Lisa. Grandfather of Spencer. Remembered by his brother Harold (Frances) and nieces Kim, Kelly and Jessica. Devoted to life, Don and Linda and several members of Brooklin United Church left for Honduras to help in building a home for a family there. Tragically, Don passed away in his sleep with some of his closest friends close by. A Memorial service will be held at BROOKLIN UNITED CHURCH on Saturday, February 24th at 11:00 a.m. In memory of Don, memorial donations to Brooklin United Church, (Habitat for Humanity Fund) or the Charity of your choice would be appreciated. Passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2007 at Lakeridge Health - Bowmanville in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Shirley for 58 years. He will be sadly missed by his children, Kent and Heather (Al Backman). Fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Brett, Todd, and Elana, his brother Victor (Isabel), and his friends at Discovery Place. Special thanks to the staff at Lakeridge Health - Bowmanville for their care and kindness. Private interment. Peacefully at her residence with her family at her side on Monday, February 12, 2007, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Norman (Norm) Liscombe. Loving mother of Jim Calberry and Joan, Nancy Johnson and Ron, Jackie McCarrell and Bill, and the late John Calberry. Sadly missed by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Sister of Ron and Charlie Murduff, and the late Stanley, Elwin, Joan, and Bill. Friends may call at the HIGHLAND PARK VISITATION/RECEPTION CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road (at River Rd. S.) on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment Little Lake Cemetery. Suddenly on Monday, February 12th 2007. Linda Rogers at the age of 45. Beloved wife of Bret. Loving daughter of Mel and Joyce Porter. Loved mother of April Jones. Loving daughter-in-law of Gladys. Dear sister of Larry Porter (Tammy). Sister-in-law of Pam (John) and Carol Ann (Bryan). Linda will be missed by her extended family, relatives and friends. Resting at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice 905-432-8484 (corner of Sandringham - Hwy #2) with complete funeral service in the Chapel on Thursday, February 15th at 3 PM.
