ALLOWAY-JEFFERSON Margaret
Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Wednesday, February 14, 2007. Predeceased by husbands, Frank Alloway Jr. and Leslie Jefferson, parents, Thomas and Hannah Waddington, and sister, Catherine Skelton. Loving mother of William Frank Alloway (predeceased), Anne (Leo McKinnon), James Alloway (Lois) and Catherine (Donald Robinson). Lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Resting at The ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, with Funeral Service in the Chapel on Friday, February 16, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

GALLANT, Roy
Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on February 14, 2007. Survived by his dear daughter, Darlene and her husband, Ross, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren in Salisbury, New Brunswick. Brother of Oscar - his wife Lorraine, Ben - his wife Shirley, Eugene - his wife Diane, Florence - her husband, Reg, Gloria - her husband, Andy, Irene - her husband, Laurie in Moncton, Paul - his wife Carol, Norman - his wife Doreen in Massachusetts, in Oshawa, sister, Vi Albrecht, brother, Bill - his wife, June. Predeceased by Eddie, Enda and Doreen. Also many nieces and nephews and friends. Cherished friend of the late Audrey Ellis - her devoted family. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, with funeral service in the Chapel on Sunday, February 18, 2007 at 2 p.m. Cremation. Visitation one hour prior to service.

GRAY, William Ronald
Surrounded by family passed peacefully in his 81st year on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Lakeridge Health Whitby. For 60 years, he was the beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Ashton). Loving father of William Ron Gray and his wife, Martha of Whitby, Lynda Olver and her husband, Terry of London, Lance Gray and his wife, Rika of Oshawa and Christina Trowell and her husband, John of Midhurst. He will be sadly missed by 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was the dear brother of Alexander Gray (deceased), Doris Butler, Betty Gray (deceased), James Gray, and Leonard Gray. Many thanks to all the doctors, nurses and caregivers who supported Ron in his brave 15 month battle with brain cancer. Special thanks to Dr. Perrin of St. Michael's, Drs. Perry and Davey of Sunnybrook Cancer Clinic, Meredith (nurse practitioner), Shirley and Angie (personal support workers), and Marie (in home nurse). Ron will be resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, on Saturday, March 3, 2007. Donations will be accepted for Brain Tumor Research in the name of William R. Gray. Visitation will be from 12noon to service time of 1pm.

LACROIX, Welland (Willy) Roy
(Retired 34-year employee of G.M., member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 577 Bewdley)
At Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Wednesday, February 14, 2007, in his 70th year. Willy, loving husband for 47 years of Barbara (nee Hale) of Newtonville. Dear father of Cheryl Ann Andrews and her husband Roy of Bewdley, Christina Sutherland and her husband John of Bewdley, Penny Willett and her husband Robert (Rob) of Newtonville, and Ronald Lacroix and his wife Cheryl of Bewdley. Sadly missed by grandchildren Shaun, Amanda, Tyler, Jacquie, Ashley, Stephen, Ryan, Lisa, Chantel, Jessie, and great- grandchildren Gracie-Ann, Nolan, Amelia, and Sawyer. Brother of Gary and the late Henry, Marilyn, Kenneth, Lonnie, Dorothy, and Reginald. Friends may call at the NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S. (just north of 401 at the lights) on Thursday, February 15, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service on Friday. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, February 16 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation. Donations in Willy's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association would be appreciated by his family.

SHAW, Karl Joseph
Passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Extendicare, peacefully in his sleep with Winona, his loving wife of 65 years at his side. Karl was born May 5th, 1916 and lived most of his life in Oshawa. He was one of ten children, and is survived by sisters, Shirley Sciuk (Richard), Margaret Meek, and Maxine Pindar (Alex) and sisters-in-law, Pauline Shaw, Carrie Shaw, Agnes Shaw, and Marion Imeson. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive Karl. Predeceased by sisters, Thora MacDonald (John), Yvonne Berlinghoff (Ted), and his four brothers, Bernie, Jake, Roy, and Eugene. A true renaissance man, remembered for his wit, manners, and charm by all who knew him. A Service will be held at Thornton Memorial Chapel, Oshawa Saturday Feb. 17th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Karl's memory to a Charity of your choice would be appreciated.

SMIGIELSKI, Tadeusz (Ted)
At Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Wednesday, February 14, 2007, Ted Smigielski at 85 years of age, beloved husband of Teresa. Loving father of Eric Smigielski and his wife, Tina and Mark Smigielski and his wife, Kelly. Loving Dziadzia of Jillian, Ryan and Karli. Dear brother of Jan Smigielski and his wife, Genowefa, and Sabina Filipkowska. Dear uncle of Roman Filipkowski and Szczepan Filipkowski. He will be fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law, Ewa Januszajtis and her family and Danuta Schejbal, and by his extended family in Poland. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with Mass of Christian Burial from St. Hedwig's Roman Catholic Church on Monday, February 19, 2007 at 10 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Prayers will be held in the Chapel on Sunday at 7 p.m. Memorial donations to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada would be appreciated. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.

SURINGA, Jan (Jack) Gerhard Pieter
Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14th, 2007, in his 72nd year. Many thanks to Dr. Batten and other doctors, nurses and staff at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital for the wonderful care given to Jack during his courageous battle with cancer. I would like to express my appreciation for the thoughtful visits my family and neighbours made to the hospital. Thank you to Low and Low Funeral Home for their assistance with arrangements and understanding. Reverend Alan Mills, thank you for your kind words and lovely service. Jack was born in Groningen, The Netherlands, and will be sadly missed by his brother Jeen Suringa (Anna) and nephews Jack and Marcel. A celebration of life will be held at the Trinity United Church, 20 First Avenue, Uxbridge, 905-852-6213 on Sunday, February 18th, 2007 at 4 p.m. Reception to follow. In Jack's memory, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Jack, you will never be forgotten, your loving wife Joyce.

TRYON, Gloria Jean
Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 with her family close by. Gloria, in her 64th year, was the loving wife of Lloyd for 44 years. Loving mother to Michael and his partner, Donna, Mark and his wife, Barbara, Teresa and partner, Bob and Tracy and her husband, Gerry. Proud grandmother to David, Ryan, Mikey, Lee, Courtney, Jessica, Devin, and William. Gloria will be sadly missed by a large extended family and many friends. As in life, Gloria has asked that no "fuss" be made over her death, and in respect of her wishes, no service will be held. A private cremation has taken place. Donations to Charity of choice would be greatly appreciated by the family and can be made through the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa. May she live in our hearts forever.

Peacefully on Tuesday, February 13th, 2007 at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville. Beloved wife of the late David Gray. Dear mother of Carol Ann Gray and Allen David Gray - Susan Connors. Loving grandmother of Amber, Alyssa, David, Nathan, Lisa, Genna - Tristan. Loving great-grandmother of Nicholas. Dear sister of Jean Fallis, Helen McDonald, Ruth Cowle and the late Henry Adams, Dorothy Lethangue and Lawrence (Stout) Adams. Visitation will take place at THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Thursday, February 15th, 2007 from 2-4 - 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held in our Chapel on Friday, February 16th, 2007 at 11 am. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to Grandview Children's Centre.

HUNTER, Dorothy Marguerite (nee Townsend)
It was with profound sadness that the family of Dorothy Marguerite Hunter announce her peaceful passing (after a courageous battle), on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 in her 73rd year at the Rouge Valley Health Centre Centenary Site with her loving husband and children at her side. Dorothy, beloved wife of James Ross Hunter (of Scarborough) for 53 years. Dearly loved mother of James George Hunter (of Brooklin), Nancy Colleen Stoneman (Rick Stoneman of Ajax) and Marina Dorothy McFater (John McFater of Ajax). She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered in our hearts always. A very special, dearly cherished and extremely proud grandmother of Brittany Anne Hunter, Alyshia Jamie Hunter, Hannah Kate Stoneman, Michaela Dorothy McFater and Madison Marina McFater. Dorothy is predeceased by her loving parents Henry and Mary Townsend (of Brooklin), brother John Edwin (Jack) Townsend (of Brooklin), and infant brothers, Henry (Sonny) and Robert Townsend. Mrs. Hunter will be resting at the W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, (110 Dundas Street East, Whitby 905-668-3410) on Friday, February 16 2007 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 1:00pm with interment at Groveside Cemetery (Brooklin). In memoriam, donations to the Starlight Children's Wish Foundation may be made in memory of Dorothy Hunter. To all her family, loved ones and friends, near and far, and to the special nurses and doctors who cared for her at the Scarborough Centenary Hospital, especially Dr. Suzanne Buchanan, and to Dr. Arnold Tepperman, Dr. Richard Wells and Dr. Sharon Koren of Sunnybrook Hospital, she leaves the following message:
