SMITH, Jean
Peacefully, at the Brockville General Hospital on Thursday, July 20, 2006, in her 69th year, Jean Smith. Beloved wife of the late Larry Smith. Dear mother of Greg (Brenda) of Prescott, Tim (Cindy) of Brouseville and Jeff (Pam) of Prescott. Grandmother of Alina, Lauren, Ben, Taylor, Dorrie, Hannah, Abbie, Bradi and Olivia. Sister of Doris McDonald and Don Heximer. Predeceased by a brother Harvey Heximer. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Chris Slater Funeral Home, 416 Dibble Street West, Prescott from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2006. She will be interred at a private family service on Monday. For those wishing, the family would appreciate donations to the Arthritis Society.

TROOP, Ross Michael
Born May 18, 1953
With dignity, courage and faith, Ross departed from us on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital. He was cherished and loved by wife Reta (Hewitt), son Michael and his wife Meagan (Irvine) and son Philip and his girlfriend Katie Dorland. Ross also leaves behind his loving mother Jean Troop (Cosens) and siblings Brian Troop, Lorraine Handy and husband Ted, Warren Troop, in-laws Elton and Marie Hewitt, Dianne Raby and husband Brian, Norene Allan and husband Robert, Daniel Hewitt and partner Michelle and Philip Hewitt and wife Patti. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ross was predeceased by his father William J. Troop. Ross will be remembered with respect by family, many friends and work colleagues and all those whose lives he touched with his sincerity, kindness, professionalism and genuine good nature. A true gentleman, may he rest eternally in God’s loving arms.
Friends may call at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, Kingston on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral on Saturday, July 22, 2006 for service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Mill Street, Sydenham at 11 a.m., with cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Sydenham or to St. Matthew’s Cathedral, Timmins would be appreciated by the family. BRADLEY, Gayle
Suddenly at the Brockville General Hospital on Sunday, July 16th, 2006, Enid Kathleen Gayle (Jackson) Bradley of RR4, North Augusta, at the age of 61 years. Daughter of the late Gerald and Mary Jackson. Dear mother of Tracey Andrews of Morrisburg and Tyler Bradley and his fiancée Michelle of Ottawa. Sister of Geraldine Covey. Fondly remembered by a niece Karen Davis (Don) and by nephews Darwin MacIntyre Jr. (Viki), Rodney MacIntyre (Lorraine) and Dennis Covey (Sandy) as well as many great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister Joan MacIntyre.
A private family gathering and celebration of Gayle’s life was held at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Tuesday, July 18th, followed by interment at Oakland Cemetery. Donations to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged.

SLY, Lawrence Haffie
World War II Veteran with the British 8th Army Medical Corps and retired Alcan employee. Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, July 17th, 2006 at his home in Kingston, at the age of 82. Loving husband of Fern. Loved father of Linda, Robert and Tom. Survived by his sister Pauline Milsap. Predeceased by his parents Clark and Louise Sly and brothers Stanley and Ralph. He will be sadly missed by his 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes, Township Chapel, 435 Davis Drive (Taylor Kidd Boulevard and Centennial Drive) on Friday, July 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in Our Chapel on Saturday, July 22 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 560 will gather at the Funeral Home Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. for the Legion Service. In the care of Gordon F. BROOKS, Mary Jane “Joan”
Peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital on Saturday, July 15, 2006, one week short of her 84th Birthday. Gone to be with her dearly loved husband Stuart Brooks (deceased 1994). Loving and respected mother of Graham (Barbara), Margaret (Morley Hennig), Roz (Jim Ellwood) and Laura Brooks-Ramirez (the late Alex). Proud grandmother of Kimberly, Christina and Steve; Thom and Bill; Emily, Liz and Brian; Alex and Kathleen and dear great-grandmother of nine great-grandchildren. Mary Jane arrived in Canada in 1945 from England as a British War Bride and made Canada her home.
Friends may call at the Grant Brown Funeral Home, Rolston Chapel, 805 Prescott Street, Kemptville on Wednesday, July 19 from 10-11 a.m. Memorial Service in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Inurnment Oxford Mills Union Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Humane Society, the Huntington Society or the charity of choice.

DOUDS, Sam Jr.
Suddenly at his residence, RR1, Delta on Friday, July 14, 2006, Sam Douds Jr., in his 40th year. Beloved son of Barbara Serson (Tom Hammond) of RR1, Gananoque and Sam Douds Sr. (Beatrice) of Westport. Loved father of Kyle of Smiths Falls and Samantha of Westport. Dear brother of Cindy Douds of Lansdowne, Tracy Basten of Brockville, Laurie (Gerald) Cadue of Gananoque, David Douds of RR1, Delta. Fondly remembered by his grandfather Percy Serson of Seeley’s Bay. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Scotland Funeral Home, 27 Main Street, Elgin on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock. GRAHAM, Verna
At the Brockville General Hospital after a brief illness on Monday, July 17th, 2006, at the age of 93 years. Beloved wife of the late William G. (Bill) Graham. Cherished mother of Beverley (Wally Elliott) and Patricia Lemieux, all of Brockville. Fondly remembered by her granddaughter Robyn Elliott of Brockville. Dear sister of Milton Goodwin of Canterbury, P.Q. Also survived by her sister-in-law June Goodwin. Predeceased by her brother Hazen Goodwin and sister-in-law Marion Goodwin.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Wednesday, July 19th from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. when a Service in Celebration of Verna’s life will be held in the Chapel. JACKSON, Shirley Jean
Peacefully with her children by her side at the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus on Friday, July 14, 2006, at the age of 53 years. Daughter of Arthur and Wilma Bolton of Kingston. Dear mother of Michelle and her husband Andrew Walford-Davis and Mike Jackson and his wife Angela, all of Brockville. Cherished grandmother of Brock, Hayden, Nathalie and Jessica. Also survived by two brothers Ronald and Bruce Bolton.
Following cremation, family and friends may pay their respects at the Roselawn Tribute Centre and Crematorium, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland on Wednesday, July 19th from 1-2 p.m. A Ceremony in celebration of Shirley’s life will take place at 2 p.m. in the Roselawn Chapel followed by inurnment in the Roselawn Tower Columbarium. In remembrance, donations to the Smiths Falls District Hospital or the Ottawa Hospital - Civic Campus, will be gratefully acknowledged. At the Kingston General Hospital on Saturday, July 15th, 2006, Rae Eleanor Scott Kingstone, age 64 of RR3, Gananoque. Beloved partner of Rick Thompson. Loving daughter of the late Raymond Greenham and his wife the former Marion Scott. Loving stepmother of Andrew Kingston (Shauna) of RR4, Lansdowne, Jessica Thompson (Mike Schmidt) and their son Aidan of Carleton Place and Reg Thompson (Sarah) of Korea. Dear sister of Donald Greenham (Jennifer) of Addison. Loving niece of Bordon Dixie of Brockville, Bill Greenham (Dawn) of Athens, Dorris Turner of Cornwall, Phyllis Scott of Athens, Dorothy Dixie of Brockville and DoLores Scott of Vancouver, B.C. Special aunt of Tracy and Scott Greenham and Laura and Ted Clark. Also survived by her father and mother-in-law Reg and Jean Thompson of Brockville. Also surviving are brother and sisters-in-law, Mary Jane McKiel (David), Robert Thompson (Wendy), David Thompson (Marianne), Jennifer Wallace (Andy) and their families, James and Emily Thompson, Colton Wallace and Olivia Wallace, Becky, Erika and Carson Thompson, Sarah and Perry Thompson, Maggie DuMoureux and Andy and Jennifer McKiel.
Relatives and friends may call at the Judson Funeral Home, Athens on Monday, July 17th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, July 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Trinity Anglican Church, Addison on Wednesday, July 19th at 11 a.m. Interment Glen Elbe Cemetery. SABOURIN, Angella
Left us unexpectedly on Friday, July 14, 2006. Her life revolved around her children, family, friends and job. Angella is survived by her common-law husband Dave Swerdfiger, children Natasha, Cody and Nick Sabourin, her parents Gordon and Doreen Vanston, a sister Lynn and brothers Gordy, Mark and David. Predeceased by a sister Christine.
